Re: Switch Emulator Adds Online Support, Then Loses It Double-Quick In Embarrassing U-Turn

LordPieFace

@Blizzia I understand that train of thought, that people finding out about emulators through NL articles may then download the emulator. I personally don't think that makes reporting on the emulator unethical. The notion that NL shouldn't report on a development in the Switch community because of the business interests of a company that they are not owned by, such an idea is more problematic.

Re: Switch Emulator Adds Online Support, Then Loses It Double-Quick In Embarrassing U-Turn

LordPieFace

@Cosats Yeah and that's super awesome, sue me. I emulated No More Heroes 2 because you can only buy it pre-owned anyway, no money goes to the devs. Then I bought it when it came out on Switch. But sure, get worked up about the illegality (or lack thereof) about people who care more about preservation than Nintendo do with their 3D all-stars BS. Ever wonder why it's always Nintendo fanboys doing their moral grandstanding?
FWIW they aren't even supporting it, just reporting on it non-judgmentally.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

LordPieFace

I totally get why people would be offended. In the real world it'd be sexual assault and playing sexual assault for laughs is like, one thing if it's just your mates, but another thing if you're promoting a videogame. It's obvious from how out of character all this is that the idea revolves around getting to see SNK girls' asses get slapped. If idk, Persona 5 got promoted in the same way it'd be a cheap way to promote a well-crafted cast. There's a scene in Steins;Gate where the protag gropes a girl's breast without consent. Sure it's played for laughs, but it's cringe that the developers contrived that plot point for the sake of some obvious fanservice, playing for laugh the girl's distress.

It'd honestly have more of a leg to stand on if it was like, pornography IMO.

Re: Professor Layton Dev Level-5 Has No Plans For Future Games Outside Of Japan, Says Report

LordPieFace

@SwitchVogel You said everything I wanted to. i also felt like Lv5 had expectations for all their properties to become juggernauts in the west and settled for no less, when in reakity much of what made them work was Japanese in an obtuse way. Nobody was impressed when Satoru Shibata did the Gera Gera Po dance to convince people that Yo-Kai Watch was this Japanese phenomenon

Re: Daemon X Machina Is Getting A First Anniversary Update This November

LordPieFace

@playstation_king The gameplay and combat is well thought-out, but I think one big issue is that you can get through the campaign without knowing the intricacies of the mechanics, so your playthrough may not be as fun as it should be. PvP forces you to engage more with the game's mechanics, so the PC version might be best of you want a more active community.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Is Sick Of Fans Asking Him If Bayonetta 3 Has Been Cancelled

LordPieFace

The trend of people saying a game is cancelled when devs have said development is going well, just because it isn't in their precious little hands right now, is really starting to grind my gears. It's the same with SMT V. I was never promised that either of those games were close to release, they were always TBD. So I'm not gonna complain, and I'm glad that they're taking their time to make a kick-ass game.

Re: 2K Says It's Eager To Release More Games On The Nintendo Switch

LordPieFace

@jaymacx 2K doesn't own Rockstar, rather Take-Two owns both companies (also Private Division of Outer Worlds) so I'd imagine that that has something to do with why some of those companies are more quick to release Switch games than others? Though maybe that's the common thread because they both release half-assed physical versions

Re: The Reason Why Nintendo's Games Are So Good? Devs Are Given "As Much Time As They Need"

LordPieFace

I tried to look up Nintendo's worst-scoring Metacritic games to see if any of them appeared particularly rushed and contradicted this statement, but it would seem that most of Nintendo's worst games weren't so much rushjobs as they were failed experiements, cynically motivated products, or the very special case of Devil's Third where so many moving parts didn't come together. Seems they have the games to back up what they were saying.

Re: Review: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore - A Pitch-Perfect, Feel-Good JRPG

LordPieFace

"Besides, this time Japan gets the ‘censored’ version too, so it’s not like there’s a special uncut Switch version the west is missing out on."

Japanese gamers had their very Japan-centric videogame, which is clearly aimed at a squarely Japanese audience, censored to fit a Western demographic. I'd take simply the Western version having cuts over both versions being censored. I'm indifferent to the changes myself but it's not rocket scientist to see how it's a little insulting to censor both versions. You can still like the game and condemn the censorship.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Pokédex Contains A Dire Warning About Climate Change

LordPieFace

@tekknik I logged out of my account, checked and I am literally not seeing the downvotes, but whatever, if they're there, that's cool, people aren't banned from disliking my comments.

My goal isn't to say climate change is real or not a hoax, it's not to get anyone on my side, it's just to speak my mind and idle thoughts, if it adds nothing, then I honestly don't care. And if that sucks and you think the comment shouldn't exist then you're entitled to that and, well, cool, it's still gonna be there, that's life. I'm not looking for meaningful exchange on climate change here.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Pokédex Contains A Dire Warning About Climate Change

LordPieFace

@tekknik Well if you haven't made it known what "side" you're on and I haven't expressed any animosity towards any individual "sides" of the climate debate, then surely there is no need to be arguing :]

I checked the downvotes on my comments and I can't see whatever you claim to be seeing, but seeing as how the worth of a comment to me is in its contents rather than up/downvotes, I'll not fret too much over it 👍
