Re: Spike Chunsoft Has A Mysterious New ARG Website... Could It Be About Zero Escape?

LordPieFace

I just finished ZTD the other day so I'mmore than happy to have more. Also y'all saying it's the worst Zero Escape I will NEVER understand, Virtue's Last Reward is just 999 stretched out over 40 hours of padding and meaningless route locks, without any semblance of thematic substance/meaningful character interactions until the end. ZTD doesn't fully deliver on several of its ideas but it's much more ambitious, entertaining and of substance.

THAT SAID: Zero Escape is very much done as a trilogy. I don't think you can add anything to that story without diluting it. If it goes back to any of those stories/characters, I think I'll pass, they'll probably mess it up.

Re: Nintendo's Direct "Dominated" E3 2021, Peaking At 3.1 Million Viewers

Well yeah, Nintendo seems to be the one that gets it. Ubisoft had some good ones, but they waffled on movies, which NOBODY cares about, and both them and Square Enix are guilty of killing the pace with one game. I'd say that Xbox perhaps stood toe to toe with Nintendo this year, but it depends on whether you care more about Starfield/Halo, or Zelda/Metroid.

@JasmineDragon I can 100% speak for Dreams!

It absolutely has all you need to make a 3D game prototype, and the ceiling for what you can achieve is much higher than GBG. However with that level of ambition, it's important to keep your ambitions in check. You can do a lot with the art/modelling in Dreams but that also means you can sink in a lot of time before you finish your project. If you go for Dreams, just don't dream bigger than you can handle and you should be fine. Keep it to small projects like GBG.

Re: Nintendo Waves Through Yet More Asset Flips Onto Switch eShop

@Orpheus79V Yeah, people really ragged on Steam for letting through all sorts of crap onto Steam, but at least their curation makes the browsing experience much more rewarding, it's much easier to find games that are worth a player's time. The current big three just fart these games onto the system with basic curation that devs can't leverage unless the platform holders bless them with exposure. Otherwise, your game shall simply rot amongst a pile of shovelware.

Re: Devolver Digital's New Game Has Been Banned In Australia

LordPieFace

I'm really surprised by people's disgust towards this game? Not people's cup of tea but far, far from abysmal.. It's not a bad game at all. I got it free on Epic, it's a charming, largely inoffensive walking simulator with light platforming and worldbuilding, plus a pretty strong aesthetic. I'd recommend the game as a bit of ambience to zone out to.

@GrailUK Interesting point about the Mockbuster there. Thing is with indie spiritual successors is well, our very own Nintendo has fumbled the Metroid franchise quite famously for the past decade (and you can say Castlevania on that note), to the point that games such as Axiom Verge and Hollow Knight have taken its core mechanics and evolved it well past Nintendo's own efforts with the Franchise.
The reason people are hyped for this JSR successor is because their previous game was a fighting game that tapped into the same aesthetic and people gravitated towards it. Whether it will truly build on the previous JSR games is yet to be seen, but SEGA has shown little interest in doing so despite there being much fertile ground for a reinvention of the series.

Re: Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes Delayed Again, This Time To 2023

LordPieFace

Doesn't really surprise me, givent hat these dudes go all-in on trying to make everything they crap out into some sorta cultural phenomenon. Like, think about it, they have: Layton, Inazuma, Snack World, Yo-Kai Watch, and Little Battlers, all of those are franchises with loads of spin-off media, even toys and the like. They've tried to milk them all to hell and back.

@Jayenkai Oh hey stranger; just to let you know, I really enjoyed your games on the OUYA, and I remember AGameADay and particularly the one about the retro demakes based on just the titles. They're kinda a blur in my memory bc it's been that long since I booted up the OUYA, but when I find it I'll surely fire it up again and have a play
