It has been my dream since the days of PSP to have Hitman on the go. It is like a dream come true. Though I wish, they had also given us Absolution. Yes, it is not much loved. But just because...
May not be important for Gavin Lane. But for those who have build up a digital library of 100 games, who are selective with what they buy, who save up to be able to buy, backwards compatibility would be crucial.
The modern APUs like those of AMD and iGPUs like intel's UHD along with 8 GB of ram barely run Warzone above 30 fps. If current Switch ever receives MWII or Warzone, it will be running on 360p render resolution at 30 fps.
But will they be able to overtake PS2 which has a record of 158 million sales? Metroid Prime 4 and Tears of the Kingdom may help boost sales. Though we are talking about 38 million more.
1. Sleeping Dogs (compared to GTA V it should be doable. Though commercial prospects of the game might be low.) 2. TR 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider should be possible. (Shadow would be a huge challenge, so won't count on that.) 3. Hitman Blood Money and Absolution (not sure whether devs would want to port but...) 4. Fallout 3 and New Vegas (since Microsoft has been quite generous to Nintendo and want their support with their take on Sony) 5. Mass Effect Legendary Edition (fat chance, EA was never very hot on Switch. 6. Dark Souls 2 & 3. (But remember DS3 is GPU-heavy when we compare it to Witcher 3)
Unreal Engine 4 games have a habit of not running very well but really happy to see this one arriving on the Switch. I wish DS2 and DS3 arrive on Switch before Nintendo announces Switch's successor.
@NinChocolate In no way I am justifying Russians or denigrating Ukrainians.
But you need to see Bandera Readings, where C14 (Neo-nazi) leader Evegeniy Karas proudly speaks about how effective they had been in Euromaidan demonstrations. I'd quote his words: "If not for us the whole event would have turned into Gay Parade". Also, C14 had been carrying out pogroms against Romani until these very recent years.
To Op: This comment is supposed to add/rectify to the facts around which the current tragic war revolves. No offense intended.
@vio You may want to wait a little more. They'd probably release another patch before Xmas. It's definitely not unplayable of now but it is clearly not enjoyable... especially San Andreas. You get 4 stars of heat and frame rate begins to take frequent dips, draw distance goes bad. It feels like you are playing a beta version of the game.
Please note that there is nothing specifically for Switch yet. They are still General, only fix prominent bugs. Frame rate, in SA at least, is still fluctuating between extremes.
Traffic density in SA is so low. Sometimes you feel like you have the whole town to yourself. Still, a tiny bit of increase in Resolution and stable fps will be much appreciated.
@TheSwitcher Precisely. And if you check at other sites, they don't mention Nintendo Switch except that one note related to Vice City language thing. They don't mention Switch even in general updates across all versions.
This is a fun game. Considering the Switch's wifi capability it is a good decision IMO. Otherwise you would get shot through the head before even lifting the gun.
@icomma Wrong. I have Gta 3, VC and SA on Vita. 3 and VC were actually reverse engineered by a team, can't recall the exact name, whose work was removed by 2k's crackdown on modders. Playing on Vita requires to purchase steam version. SA is the Android Gta which required to write some kind of loader for Vita written by scene veteran theflow.
Bought the trilogy day one. Played only a few missions on all.
1. Pop-ins are clearly an issue.
2. Sometimes stationary objects are rendered a bit late.
3. Speeding is difficult because vehicles in traffic go from 0 opacity to 100 in a second, affecting both gameplay and immersion.
4. Road textures could be completely bland just giving off a color rather than asphalt look.
5. Muddy looks on NPCS, trees, some not very far buildings affect the aesthetics.
6. NPCS and Vehicles' shadows which should form underneath disappear in the evening and stay so until 8:30 in the morning. Yes, you can actually clock it.
7. Even standing against light source in the night doesn't produce any shadow.
8. Noted very few bugs owing to the time I could spend. Car doors opening through your character, getting sunk knees down in the sidewalk are frequent ones.
9. Foliage is clearly updated. But grass blades sticking out in other versions, aesthetically important for me at least, have been completely cropped.
10. Framerate is very unstable.
11. Resolution is trashy in docked but bearable in handheld.
The game has been scaled down just to run on the Switch as opposed to being optimized for the best possible experience on Switch. Saints Row 3 looks crispier on the this console. I'd still say 6.5/10 not 4. But then I have hardly given an hour to each game.

Re: Nintendo Of America Announces Cyber Deals eShop Sale, Up To 80% Off
Do you guys ever wonder why Hellblade never goes on sale? I haven't seen it on any sale in like 2 years.
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?
I will pass it on to my niece. She will be 9 next year and she loves to play Animal Crossing whenever she visits us.
Re: Microsoft Will Think Of Nintendo Users As "Part Of The Xbox Community" Going Forward
Even though I often play games on the Series S, these words make me feel uneasy.
Re: Doug Bowser: Nintendo Has A "Great Relationship" With Microsoft
I hope Nintendo never gets bought. One giant company to rule the whole industry would be bad for consumers.
Re: It Looks Like Robocop: Rogue City Has Been Quietly Cancelled On Switch
It is okay. They should release it on Switch's successor.
Re: Guns And Spurs 2 Attempts To Give Red Dead Redemption Some Cowboy Competition
It is more on par with Red Dead Revolver.

With AC Mirage and Alan Wake 2 coming this month, their decision to release trilogy in December serves my wallet well.
Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

Re: 'The Lara Croft Collection' For Switch Has Been Rated By The ESRB
@JustMonika So would I. But Shadow of the Tomb Raider will prove way too demanding to convert.

I am just gonna rant about how the Walking Dead series almost never goes on sale on the US eshop.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2023
I'd have liked these:
1. Sleeping Dogs (compared to GTA V it should be doable. Though commercial prospects of the game might be low.)
2. TR 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider should be possible. (Shadow would be a huge challenge, so won't count on that.)

Just wishing out loud. May not see any of these.
Re: Rumour: Switch Pro Was Real But Got Cancelled, Claims Digital Foundry
So we won't see a new Nintendo console even in 2023! Well, we will see a few good games then. And not only the first party, I hope.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion On Switch
That's awesome considering how difficult it is to optimize Unreal Engine 4 games on the Switch hardware.

Okay. There are few bugs whose whereabouts I know. Let's see if they are still there.

In answer to the question, how we have found, I'd say it's alright. Nothing too fancy, nor too drastic.

I have a dream that one day Switch will see a port of MGS V.
Re: Gallery: Rockstar Shares First Screenshots Of The GTA Trilogy For Nintendo Switch
Just the dynamic shadows, ambient occlusion, texture quality, and reflections have been reduced, the rest is just fine.

GTA trilogy! Switch badly needed a GTA game I think. It's finally here. So, Yahoo!
