Re: Review: Dead Cells: Return To Castlevania - An Intense, Brilliant Nostalgia Trip To Dracula's Castle

Lionyone

The whole Dead Cells game with dlc is now a sold gold 10/10. With the Assist Mode and the Castlevania dlc the game now ranks as among the Greatest Games Of All Time. Seriously it does.

Its given me one of the best single player experiences of my life. It's amazing. And Motion Twin and Evil Empire its creators are amazing companies that totally deserve having interview features done with their really cool and interesting staff. Please @mitchvogel please!

I'm happy for those that like it. But for myself I didn't get it partly because I'm trying to cut down the amount of plastic I buy as we've only got one planet. Every bit less plastic means less oil extraction. If we all ask nintendo to switch from plastic to something eco they will.

@westman98 Thank you!!! I read somewhere the audio improvement is only in bass and treble. So I guess it's an improvement mainly for sound effects and certain music pieces. Bit of a shame it doesn't improve the midrange where speech is as I and a huge number of people find speech hard to hear so making speech crystal clear would have improved enjoyment a lot.

Ah well, here's hoping the Switch Pro will have this in 2023 lol!

Re: UK Retailer Currys Had A Metroid Dread Deal That Was Too Good To Be True

Lionyone

Received my preordered £26 copy courtesy of Curry's and DPD a few minutes ago. I've watched the cinematic intro which is nice - takes maybe 20 minutes to watch all of the backstory and loading. Amazingly the game card requires ZERO download and other developers should take note of this wonderful wizardry because buying a game card and then having to download robs game cards of old school plug and play magic. This is how it should be particularly for handheld. Leave the download nonsense to the console and pc big boys on their Xstations! Handheld gaming should be pure fun!

I'm not actually playing Metroid Dread yet. To make it a bit of an event I'm playing it this evening while on the phone with a friend who I had tipped off about the Curry offer and we'll start the game proper together. What's particularly nice about this is my friend has very little money and I don't have much more and without the Curry offer neither of us would have got Metroid. This is an important point - gaming should not be solely for the rich and well off. Accordingly I hope there are many more offers that help out us poor folk. Otherwise we end up with a two tier gaming society and that doesn't sound healthy or happy.

Re: Review: GODS Remastered - A Timely Update That Sticks Too Closely To The Original

Lionyone

I bought this for a tad under £3 on sale on the Russian eshop at 60% off. Well worth it for those who loved the original. Also worth it for those who love ancient Greece and ancient Rome. I do miss some of the original graphics and soundtrack as in the story bit at the beginning. But I guess copyright scuppered those as it does for so many of the less popular remasters. Indeed we're probably lucky to have it at all on Switch. It's a pity there is no button mapping. But those things aside I've had huge fun with it. Not only is it a wonderful part of my childhood that I reconnect with it is also fun platformer game. Controls are a little clunky but that's part of the challenge. It's actually a lot easier than a lot of modern platformer games like Mario's NSMBDU. At this price I would say it's 8/10 for fans of the original and 7/10 for platformer fans who didn't play the original. You can have a good time with it. I'm glad I got it.

Re: EA Acquires Racing Game Specialist Codemasters

Lionyone

I think this will increase the value of Xbox Game Pass that already incudes EA games. Xbox will also encourage EA to produce good racing games. I'm kind of surprised Xbox hasn't bought EA outright yet, but maybe they don't need to. I'm kind of hungering for Xbox to buy out Ubisoft and CD Projekt Red to save those companies from their own mismanagement.

Re: Square Enix Reports Increased Annual Sales, Despite Individual Game Losses

Lionyone

Wondering if Microsoft are buying Square Enix. I don't mind if it happens because under Phil Spencer Microsoft has shown itself to be great for game studios. That's particularly since game pass launched and got big as it enables all kinds of niche games to succeed more which is good for developers as it gives them more creative freedom.

Re: Fitness Boxing 2 Quietly Sells 500,000 Units, Reaching 1.5 Million Across The Series

Lionyone

Something I find strange is Nintendo Life gave Fitness Boxing 2 a relatively low score, 6/10. If you're looking simply to get fitter, stronger, and slimmer, well then it really doesn't matter that the game doesn't have all the cute graphics, humour, or ace music it could do. The graphics work perfectly for boxing. You can put your own music on via another system if that helps you although when you're boxing combos, fast chains of different punches, you will need to focus a lot to complete the combos. It is a an extremely functional game in the best sense of the word. If you want to get your body fit the game delivers in spades. All you need is to show up and box away and you'll get dramatically physically stronger and fitter surprisingly quickly. Of particular note is that the game cleverly encourages that habit of daily boxing. Once you've started a streak of daily boxing you will want to keep it up due to the game's subtle but effective rewards and encouragement. Boxing increases your real world confidence as your body becomes more powerful and more capable, as your core muscles develop by following the game's instructions. Most likely you've not been using much the muscles that boxing uses so you will see rapid body change. The game selling like hot cakes tells you that people are recommending the game by word of mouth as they lose weight and get stronger all thanks to the game. Perhaps that's the best rating a game like this could get. Come and box and you could make 2021 the best year your body has ever had.

Re: Fitness Boxing 2 Quietly Sells 500,000 Units, Reaching 1.5 Million Across The Series

Lionyone

Honestly Fitness Boxing 2 deserves a 10/10 score because it has got me loving exercise. Its made me stronger, fitter, and slimmer. That's a result, and kind of the only result that matters for a fitness game.

Got Fitness Boxing 2 in digital so I don't have to hunt for a game card, I can just dock and play.

Fitness Boxing 2 is far better than FB1. Don't buy FB1 even if it's much cheaper. Get FB2 and consider it investment in yourself and your future.

Re: Random: Game Show Contestant Thinks Nintendo Of America Is Run By Wario

Lionyone

Would explain why it's so damn difficult to use American eshops for Brits with British Bank cards. And then why leaving an American eshop for another country eshop is impossible if you have a single CENT left on your account unless Nintendo support come to your rescue. Completely utterly crazy. Even the Russian eshop doesn't do any of that to Brits.
