Re: Phil Spencer "Not Sure" About Game Pass On Switch, But Says Xbox Could Be Open To Discussions

Lionyone

@Ventilator So I just played CONTROL via cloud streaming on Switch handheld provided by Nintendo. I tried both the Performance version and the Enhanced Graphics version. Both were very impressive and honestly better than Xcloud on my Samsung Note 9. But the screen could definitely be better and the WiFi connection could definitely be better - Switch needs to get WiFi 6E. I loved CONTROL but it was definitely better playing it on Xbox. It was a really interesting cool and fun experience. But I know Nintendo flush with cash can definitely do better.

Re: Phil Spencer "Not Sure" About Game Pass On Switch, But Says Xbox Could Be Open To Discussions

Phil Spencer would probably only put Xcloud/Game Pass on a Switch Pro model that has better chips and screen capable of displaying Xbox games properly. This could be a genius move for Nintendo, giving proper differentiation to Switch as their prestige XSX/PS5 rival, while not eating into their very lucrative sales of Switch regular/light. And it would sell well to the army of people who want to use their xbox/pc/android Game Pass on the go in the best portable format. Everyone wins. That would be a very Phil move that also pleases Nintendo as they do enjoy the prestige of being leading edge which attracts top developers keen to see their work shown at its best.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch Pro' Could Feature A Mini-LED Display, According To A New Report

Lionyone

I doubt Nintendo will change the screen because the screen is very adequate for its games. My phone has a better screen than my Switch but I don't game on my phone. I could see Nintendo improving the chip again which could reduce heat issues and improve battery life. Maybe they would directly improve the battery as well. But otherwise as long as Switch is selling very well why change a winning and very profitable formula? Particularly as the pandemic has reduced a lot of people's incomes now and for the next year or so. So the affordability of switch is a big selling point in its favour. If Xcloud on phones really takes off Nintendo might think again but that will probably take years to happen anyways. Accept what the Switch is and be happy with what an incredible machine you've got! Banking on a switch pro coming out is probably not a good use of time, instead enjoy the Switch as it is. What I do think nintendo will do is release more crazy amazing inventive beautiful peripherals that extend the Switch as a gaming platform for those that want it along the lines of Mario Kart Live and Ring Fit Adventure! Sorry for being a downer to those counting on a Switch Pro. But happy gaming one and all!

Trying to get 100% on HADES is taking a long time but I do so love the little snippets of story I get doing so. I know when I finally fully complete Hades I'll remember it always because it's a warm and moving experience with awesome Greek gods, a banging soundtrack, and lovely comic book graphics.

Re: SuperData: 3D All-Stars Is Now The Biggest Digital Launch For A Mario Game On Nintendo Switch

Lionyone

I didn't buy the collection because I don't have nostalgia having never played the games. Going by reviews it's one good game and two mediocre games which didn't sound my cup of tea. I'm happy to wait until I can buy the good one individually and for less. I'm happy for all who enjoyed it though. I'm also glad the sale success people contributed to will encourage Nintendo to release more collections which sounds great!

Happy gaming!

Re: Of Course Scalpers Are Already Listing Fire Emblem's 30th Anniversary Edition

Lionyone

Here's an idea the opposite of scalping. When you want to sell something, instead of selling your game or console to a second hand purchasing company like Amazon that will resell your goods at a higher price, offer your good for sale in your local community. You can sell it in your local community at the same price that amazon etc would buy it off you. In that way it's gamers helping gamers and you're strengthening your local community and you might make good friends that way. In this pandemic making community ties stronger is really good idea.

Re: Of Course Scalpers Are Already Listing Fire Emblem's 30th Anniversary Edition

Lionyone

I don't scalp myself because I think it's unethical. But I'm also aware I have a choice to be ethical. If a scalper is, let's say, someone on low income who without scalping can't afford food or heating for their kids and themselves, then I have sympathy for them being forced into that unethical choice. Certainly scalping is better than hunger or being forced into prostitution. I don't know who scalpers are. But I assume it's another sign of our broken economy that pays most people low wages/benefits and has no social safety net. Maybe you think I'm too kind in my assumptions about who at least some scalpers might be. But I prefer to think there's a human face and a struggling human amidst the problem. Certainly it makes it easier for me to think about scalpers that way as it stops me getting pointlessly angry at scalpers because there is nothing I can do about them.

Re: Microsoft Has A "Very Good Relationship With Nintendo" But Isn't Making Any Promises Moving Forward

Lionyone

Nintendo have already shown they're interested in streaming games to Switch. But they can't do it outside Japan. Once Xbox have cracked game streaming I think Nintendo will want a piece of that for selected games. Nintendo will enjoy annoying Sony by doing this. That could be an awesome link up. More likely than game pass on Switch as Game Pass is likely too generous for Nintendo's taste. I do find it weird Xbox have never tried to create a handheld xbox console, but I guess the intention is that once phones are good enough and streaming to phones is good enough that phones will become the Xbox handheld console. It will be an awesome day when that is common!

Absolutely loving LET'S SING QUEEN. It's an utterly joyful experience, a perfect antidote to the darkness of winter and gloom-news. If you like Queen songs and you enjoy singing it's super highly recommended. You don't need to sing well to enjoy it heaps. And if you sing loud it's surprisingly good cardio exercise that definitely strengthens the lungs. Doctors have found those who sing live longer and enjoy life more, so what's not to like about that!!

With a mic it's an easy 9/10 score. One of the highlights of my year.

Re: Review: Let's Sing Queen - Makes The Rockin' World Go 'Round

Lionyone

I wear hearing aids, I'm part deaf in both ears, and I'm STILL really enjoying this game! Sing loud and it's actually a bit of a cardio exercise workout. I recommend the game bundled with the double mic set, they really add a lot of atmosphere, but drama and clarity and they keep your voice connection to the game constant whereas the phone connection can drop when your phone screen goes dark in screensaver mode. The double mic set doesn't cost much - only a tenner more than the base game - it's a bargain really when you consider the double mics alone could sell for twenty. I used amazon prime day generic tenner off and fiver off vouchers and so got the mics free and the base game cheaper. Well worth it. And awesome fun whether by yourself or with friend/s. With the double mic you can add up to 8 friends and don't think you can do that with the phone app. Happy singing! Sing loud! Sing joyous! Sing to forget 2020!

Re: Lovely Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Goodies Appear On Nintendo UK Store

Lionyone

I'd love to play it but £49.99 is too much. C'mon Nintendo we're in a pandemic and we're going into a steep recession. Have some sympathy for your poor gamers and reduce prices. You'll sell even more and you'll make even more money. If it was a completely new game this launch price would be reasonable. For a port of an already released Nintendo game it's monopoly abuse. It's also frankly insulting to Wii U owners, giving them no incentive to buy the game again. Don't make us sad Nintendo! Hoping for a great sale price on digital or physical before Christmas! In UK Curry's might be our saviour!!

Re: Feature: No More Robots Boss On How Switch eShop Is Pushing Publishers To Game The System

Lionyone

If you want an eshop ranking by revenue then create a website for it. Ranking by revenue doesn't sound like a way to discover quality games. It does sound like a way for game makers to land more deals with game publishers. I don't have a problem with games ranked by units sold. Most gamers are interested to know what the buzz is about the games that are popular - it's human nature to join fashions and trends. Also gaming is an expensive hobby and we're going into a steep recession. Attacking gamers for spending less on games because that's what they can afford, is not a good look. Don't attack your consumers. Don't be a snob.

Re: Review: Cricket 19 - Performance Woes Can't Dampen This Decent Sports Sim

Lionyone

Honestly this review reads like an 8/10 for the niche of people who like 🏏 cricket. I like cricket, I like the thwack of leather on willow and its gentle leisurely long form game that is almost meditative. I think once a person really gets into this game having grasped its many tools it'll be a 9/10 game.

I couldn't care less about cut scenes or lack of cartridge. It's the actual playing that matters and that sounds rock solid here even in single player.

I'm definitely picking up this game in when the price is right on eShop.

Re: Review: TT Isle Of Man - The Safest Way To Experience The World's Deadliest Motorsport Race

Lionyone

Even though I've got this on Xbox I'll still get it for Switch once the price drops low enough to double dip. It is a visually stunning game and the screenshots here look impressive to me. Videos I saw elsewhere were even more impressive. The NL reviewer unfortunately wasn't aware this game has cult status on Xbox and deservedly. It may only really be one track, but what a track. For true racing fans it's a must, it's the ultimate challenge. A 6 is too low. This game is surely a lot of fun to play on Switch for those willing to put in the hard work of mastering it. This is kind of the Dark Souls of racing games. This game is a little niche but from the sound of it, it deserves a rating of 8/10.
