@Damo I'll add my vote. Not everyone has good eyes. The tiny slightly blurred print hurts my eyes. Typing it out wouldn't be necessary if the statement could be copy and pasted. One way or another it would be a kindness to the reader to have the statement in Nintendo Life's usual beautiful font that is a pleasure to read. 🙏
@Gmiol I'm not so sure. Parts of many Japanese cities look very sterile, ugly and utilitarian which is probably a legacy of post WW2 rapid rebuilding of razed cities as in Europe. That creates a somewhat architecturallly brutalised culture in some areas. Japan isn't all temples with stunning verdant natural gardens unfortunately.
@60frames-please It's kind of you to suggest that might be the reason. However, a good review, even in small form, does not deliberately miss out major features that are extremely likely to be of huge interest to 90% of pool/snooker players who own Switches because real pool and snooker are sociable. It would only take a couple more sentences to at minimum refer to the features so readers might investigate them further.
I read a PS4 gamer ended up playing Pure Pool more than any other game simply because he enjoyed it so much.
It's odd the Nintendo Life review makes no mention of online multiplayer enabling you to play with other humans. Does the Switch version of the game have it? I thought it did. I certainly had the impression the versions of Pure Pool on PS4/Xbox have it although I might be mistaken. Important to have clarification on this point in the review. After all a big part of the joy of pool and snooker is playing other people. It's such online multiplayer that would give the game real longevity and enjoyment for years to come long after the AI modes have been exhausted.
Also, relatedly, there's no mention of Player DNA in the review. It's something that I'd I'm not mistaken the makers of Pure Pool make much of in their promotion of the game. The idea of it is you can still play against your friends even when they're not online as you'll play against a computer model of how your friend plays. It sounds really cool and fun. If Player DNA is in the Switch version of the game the Nintendo Life review should certainly describe it and evaluate how good it is.
Perhaps those two points were missed because there wasn't yet a large number of Switch gamers playing the game as it was pre-release? If so the review should still mention those points and say they'll update the review (and possibly even the rating) once they've been able to properly try out multiplayer.
I'm waiting for the Nintendo Life review of FUSER the amazing DJ music creation game by Harmonix on Nintendo Switch.
I'm playing Dropmix which was also created by Harmonix. More on that in a bit, first I want to talk a bit about Fuser.
I love the concept of Fuser and may well end up getting it even in VIP version if it's worth it. But I do balk a little at the high cost of Fuser even if I fully understand that music licensing of really popular songs just is expensive. If Nintendo Life could reach out to Harmonix to get them to fully explain the relatively high cost of Fuser that would ease the financial pain of spending £50-£60 on the base game of Fuser (price varies where you buy) or spending £100 on the VIP version that incudes all the DLC and maybe throws in a few extra perks. Indeed it seems the VIP version saves a little money if you anyways want all the DLC. I also understand if you're used to paying upwards of £100 for a music festival ticket then paying £100 for what is effectively a mobile virtual music festival, is kind of a bargain. Certainly Fuser adds extra value in the pandemic as there are no music festivals in Europe or USA currently. So I do see how Fuser can really lift people's spirits.
Dropmix is a bit similar to Fuser in that it's Harmonix's earlier DJ music creation game. But Dropmix doesn't use a Switch, instead it uses a smartphone bluetooth linked to a very Star Trek looking game board and song cards that link to the game board via RIFID tags. I received a Dropmix game set today (plus I separately got 4 AA batteries for the Dropmix game board) via Amazon and I have to say Dropmix is magical. Outside it's raining a lot and it's a grey day but the music remixes I created on Dropmix are so good that they lifted my spirits to the extent that the boring weather isn't getting me down at all today!! Dropmix is so simple a small child could play with it, and yet the remixes you can create can be wonderful to listen to for adults, it's extraordinary. And you can even save and later play back the remixes you create solely using the Dropmix app on your phone without any need to be tethered to the board after earlier creating the remixes on the board. Dropmix is genius.
Dropmix is now far cheaper than Fuser simply because Dropmix wasn't marketed at all well so the price of the base game of Dropmix has plunged from something like £119 at Curry's to £16.98 at amazon which is almost a reduced to clear price (if you love Dropmix you'll probably want to get all the other song cards which might add another £25 or so, but even all in Dropmix is an amazing bargain). By mainly being sold in kids toystores Dropmix kind of missed most of its music festival goer market even though Dropmix very justly got many rave reviews for the quality of its music, its card artwork, and the high quality of the game board. I'm super happy with Dropmix and recommend it highly.
I have been wondering if Dropmix has a completely different songlist to Fuser. I have reached out to Harmonix on Twitter to find out the answer to that question. I suspect the two games do have completely different songlists but it would be good to get clarity on that. Certainly if the two games have the same songlist I'd only get Fuser when it's reduced, but if they're completely different I'll probably bite on the VIP version of Fuser! Once you get the DJ remixing bug you're a different person!
I hope none of the employees have PTSD from this incident. Whoever committed this crime has a diseased mind.
On the topic of Ubisoft, I've loved many of Ubisoft's games, particularly STEEP produced by Ubisoft Annecy, so the recent sexual harassment horrors at Ubisoft Montreal really shocked saddened and disappointed me. The problems there were so bad it half made me want Xbox to take over Ubisoft simply to reform the company and give it a healthy female friendly culture. I'm very glad Ubisoft sacked/resigned seemingly most of the worst offenders but obviously there's a long way to go to create a great work culture. So one way or another I hope Ubisoft can fully reform itself and become a truly great company that's an amazing respectful and pleasant place to work for all employees. I just hope this criminal hoax didn't set those efforts back. I feel sorry for the good people at Ubisoft and I hope those people succeed and prosper.
I would only ever use this as a desk clock and can't do that easily without a kickstand. What a daft oversight by Nintendo.
It's also way overpriced for what it is. I doubt its value will rise long term because so many of them have been sold and there are so many gaming investors now. If you do want it as an investment you have to never use it, never open its box. And Where's the fun in that?
On top of the faults mentioned in the article I've got to rate it harshly as its fallen far short of Nintendo's highest standards.
It looks a bit soulless to me. (And if those plants are plastic ugh.)
Really it could be any reasonably well heeled company office. Bizarre that it doesn't look like a games company office at all. Don't they like their own games?
This sounds a real marmite game. Only way for people to know if the game is for them is to play demo and read reviews. So the game will probably be a 9 for those who love it until it's patched. It probably won't be the cup of tea of everyone else. And that's ok. Not every game has to be a 10 that's recommended to everyone. Diversity in gaming is good because we're all individuals and all part of sub-group tastes.
I'll definitely get an Xbox Series X when they bring out a beatifully themed special edition of it. And when I have a next gen TV that can deliver all that xbox goodness.
I 💚 Xbox.

This is just the stock market being dumb. The vaccine news was way overhyped - I mean it was based on only 89 cases of Covid in vaccine subjects. Good vaccines don't stop Covid they make it much more mild and brief. So you need many thousands of brief mild Covid cases in vaccine test subjects across all genders, ages, and ethnicities, to be able to say you have a good vaccine. We're still a long way from when a good safe proven widely effective vaccine is given to billions of people. Once investors realise these basic facts gaming stocks will go up again.
@MisterMan Have you got any more insults? I'm wondering if you can write the emptiest comments on the Internet today. Instead of insulting, if you want to sound intelligent, make a substantive point.
I dunno if it's Nintendo taking pity on us because of of the dogs breakfast that is Brexit, but UK prices for physical games have often seemed in this last year among the best in the world. Curry's has been a particularly good retailer but others have also at times had kinder prices.
@BLD Read up on how Stacy Abrams and others fought voter suppression in Georgia and added over 800,000 people rightfully to the voting rolls enabling the State to go from solid Republican to likely Biden flip. Read up on how a few years earlier Republicans had purged over 3m voters from Georgia's voting rolls which stopped Stacy Abrams from rightfully winning the State Governor race in Georgia.
And that's just Georgia. Just one state. There are similar problems in many states.
Voter suppression is racism at its ugliest and its been going on for many decades but that doesn't make it less real or current.
@BLD Also unfortunately serious and likely in some places rampant voter suppression of people of colour probably explains some Republican successes in House/Senate. Hopefully that gets put right over the next four years. America and the world need USA to have fully fair and free elections.
@BLD According to a Republican pollster the reason the polls weren't accurate is because about 13% of Trump voters literally lied to family, friends, and pollsters that they intended to vote for the Commander of Cheetos. A candidate's pretty bad if you have to lie about supporting them. Never happened on that scale before.
