Re: Hell Yes! DOOM And DOOM II Just Got Another Add-On, And It's Out Today

@abdias Those reviews you cite are old and out of date as Sea of Thieves has been continuously developed and improved a huge amount. As a result it won Best Ongoing Game at the 2019 PC Gamer Awards. That's why Sea of Thieves has a thriving community today. Rare made the game amazing, it took time beyond launch but they did it.

@COVIDberry You've not been paying attention to Xbox so I guess you're not an Xbox gamer. I've been gaming on Xbox since 2017 and I have been consistently impressed at how Phil Spencer has completely reshaped reformed and redesigned Xbox the company. It isn't the same company at all that it was in 2013. Game studios acquired by Xbox in the new era have praised the way Xbox helps them be more creative and take more risks and build better games for gamers. That's happened since Phil Spencer took over and was elevated to the Microsoft board giving him complete independent control of Xbox. Phil has been a genuine velvet revolution at Xbox. This is something to celebrate and it's good for gamers everywhere on every platform. Phil doesn't fight console wars and he thinks such macho talk is destructive for the industry, for example it drives away female gamers. That's why for example you have Ori and Cuphead on Switch. This is a good thing. It makes the gaming world much better.

Re: Poll: DOOM Eternal Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Lionyone

@JaxonH That's wishful thinking. Maybe you're rich and can afford all the games you want how you want. Hard reality is a lot of people in these increasingly financially difficult times will pick 'free' game pass games over expensive nintendo games when they own both consoles.

I've hated gyro aiming on every game I tried it on Switch. Maybe I had the sensitivity set too high I don't know but it moved violently and made me feel dizzy and sick. So gyro isn't for me and I can't be alone in that.
Regarding rumble, I've noticed xbox really dramatically improving its use of impulse rumble in games recently. It's incredible on the amazing new Tetris game that's on Game Pass.

@boxyguy You guessed wrong. Does that make you condescending about me?!

Speedrunners and all the other hobbyists you mention are completely different because they're not stuck. They're moving within their hobby and they're constantly achieving new milestones. That's healthy and admirable.

Calling actual illness as illness isn't a jab. It's a description of reality.

It sounds truly depressing to use a very large part of your life for so little with nothing to show for it. It's genuinely worrying and concerning. Happiness isn't the sole arbiter of whether someone is healthy or not. For example cocaine can make someone extremely happy yet extremely unhealthy. I hope he gets the funds or contacts for meds and psychological/psychiatric help he clearly needs to move beyond this. Part of illness can be not recognising that one is unwell. At times like that it can be genuinely helpful for others to give an external perspective and sincerely say hey dude you're not well please please get medical help for yourself because we want you to be well. That isn't being patronising, that's being a human being who cares about the wellbeing of fellow humans.

Re: For Only The Third Month In Two Years, Switch Wasn't The UK's Best-Selling Console

@TheFullAndy I've heard great things about plasma but never seen it. I'm glad it fully meets your present needs. I think as incomes declined following 2008 people opted for LCD TVs in numbers that made plasma TV production economically unviable for TV manufacturers. Still innovation continues and I'm excited at what happens next in TVs. I think the next big trend in TVs, in a couple of years, will be 8K short throw laser projectors.

@TheFullAndy That's your choice to wait. Lack of big name exclusives didn't stop either of the new consoles selling out of stock. We're in the odd situation where neither console has launched with a must have game. Demon's Souls is nice but hasn't sold well. Astro's Playroom is technically impressive but nobody's buying the console solely in order to play it.

I'm waiting on buying the consoles for different reasons. First, I like game themed console shells and all the new consoles have boring shells. Second, all the consoles have new product problems and bugs and I'm happy to wait for those to be fixed. Third, there doesn't exist yet a TV that can show off the consoles in all their graphical and aural splendour. Even the mighty LG CX that is almost perfect doesn't show blacks properly when VRR is used which is bad for back compact games. The TV market has been slow and half hearted to adapt to the new consoles and the pandemic probably made that worse. But perfect TVs will probably be out in Spring or Summer, giving us a choice of incredible sets that are better value. Plenty to look forward to!

Re: Review: Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise - More Of The Same, And That Might Not Be Enough

On IGN Italia the reviewer there has practiced real fitness boxing in a gym for years. She rated this game as an excellent alternative to real fitness boxing and she gave it a score of 7.5/10. She cautioned that if you really train hard with it set to a single type of punch, you can injure yourself! So the workouts are serious intensity. She recommended alternating this game with Ring Fit simply to avoid injury. Impressive!
