I seriously think Cuphead on Switch will be the best version of Cuphead. You've surely all noticed how the Switch processor and graphics chip and screen are all optimised for cartoon style graphics. No other console or PC can match the fun and beauty of cartoon style games on Switch.

Hopefully the game itself is improved in its Switch offering to make it a little easier and faster. But even if it isn't I think the Switch version will still be the most fun and intuitive and easiest version of Cuphead to play. Bring it on! Let's all have cups of tea!

I'm so buying physical of this. I feel hot just thinking about it! I'm going to tweet-beg Microsoft and Nintendo and the studio who made it to make it physical.

If it doesn't come physical I'll get digital.

@Mando44646 Play it anyways. You only live once! And the Nintendo version might be weirdly easier than on Xbox/PC. Certainly I was pleasantly surprised to find I found Trials Rising easier and more enjoyable on Switch than Trials games were on Xbox.

@Moroboshi876 I saw an Xbox retail edition of Cuphead once on Amazon France. It may still be there. I think however it was just a proper game case with cover with a code inside, I don't think it was a disc.

A lot of people are hurting financially due to low pay and due to state assistance cuts. So I can understand why people would go for attractively priced deals. That doesn't make them bad people. Birthdays and kids and Christmas still go on when people are having hard times financially. And heck people need all the joy they can get and the Switch is definitely a little joy bundle strokes Switch appreciatively

I found it hard to get going in the demo. It certainly didn't feel at all intuitive for a newbie to the series like myself.

I've a feeling this will end up being a service Google tries to sell to China. I can't see this succeeding in the West. Gamer culture is very developed and very entrenched here.

Amazon UK has this offer every year that it comes first in some survey. Usually the offer is more generous - £10 off £50. Probably brexit costs are the reason it's less generous this year.

People assuming this won't sell could be in for a surprise. In USA pre-orders for one of the kits, I think it was the basic kit, sold out very rapidly.

So if you might want it, pre-order!

I've pre-ordered the basic kit. I felt a bit of a lunatic pre-ordering without seeing gameplay. But I want to do my tiny bit to encourage Nintendo VR. If that's all I get out of it I'll be happy. And it's fun to give my Switch more functionality that might be used by Nintendo more later on. I'm hopeful that Nintendo and Google will later allow these googles to use Google Street View. I might keep my kit flat until I have someone round to build it with. But I might also not be able to wait if gameplay review exceeds expectations.

Still, $800- for a pair of trainers? I'd rather use the money for consoles and games. I guess my more earthly priorities come from not having a mega salary, le sigh.

Google could prove a bad bet in gaming for another reason. Elizabeth Warren wants to break up Google because Google is very anti-competitive and stifles genuine innovation. Even if Warren doesn't win the Presidency in 2020 her policy is gaining traction and popularity with other Presidential candidates. Google as we know it may not exist any more in a few short years time. By contrast Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will all still be around and will all still be making great games. That's a sweet future to look forward to!

The trailer looks surprisingly vaginal but I doubt Google will offer any sort of climax.

I actually do Bing train times and pub closing because I detest Google. It is a vampire squid of the tech world. Clearly Microsoft has rattled Google, and yet Google is arriving late.

Succeeding in gaming is hard. I don't think Microsoft or Nintendo have anything to worry about. Google is going to fail at this and it will quickly give up.

Question is of course how good is it in handheld mode?

What a surprise I thought this game was to graphically intense to come to switch but it seems it's handling it. I love this game on Xbox and seeing it here on switch makes my heart sing.

Fabulous game! It's now 10/10 on Switch imo. I've been playing the full game since I got it from Base a couple of days ago for £24- and I thought that a bargain. The Switch copy comes with a physical and lovely art sticker book. The game itself is a lot of fun on Switch and looks gorgeous and sounds incredible on the Switch's speakers. I adore the soundtrack. I bought the game partly because of the soundtrack! But it is also simply fun! Buy it!

@SenseiDje Exactly. It says zero about the value of Xbox gaming experiences. It says a lot about Japanese culture being very closed.

He sounds a bit vicious. Held on in honoured well paid position but basically had his day.

@SenseiDje Because of the American military base. A lot of Japanese don't like filthy polluted gaijin things. But that attitude'will change as Japan opens up. I've got an an Xbox and Switch and love them both.

@AlohaPizzaJack The article quoted the guy in the video saying that the pupillary distance was 1cm smaller than for Oculus which he said indicated children's usage.

Only for kids? Ah shoot. Still, I'd prefer to hear from Nintendo that this won't work at all for adults before cancelling an order.

Maybe that extra button on my Pokémon controller is a turbo button? What games do you use that and how do you use that?

I got a yellow Pokémon GameCube USB controller for Switch from Nintendo UK. Happy with it. Just wondering what its extra central button is that it has but these PDP models don't have. The button shows two arrows (solid black triangles) pointing downwards at a button symbol. What is it?!

Having been a victim of burglary I'm going to give this a miss. If it was medieval set like the Xbox game called Thief I'd be fine with it. But this, hard no for me.

I suspect the company itself leaked the game to generate a buzz. Seems to have worked.

I love the cheerful tunes of the 1980s and early 90s. We need more of that wonderful cheerfulness to strengthen us in these dark times.

So I went over to Metacritic to kind of maybe settle for at least some undecided people the dispute raging in this thread! On Metacritic the PC edition of this game scored a worthy 80% average across critics and 7.6 across users. Unpick that and you get some impressive scores. IGN Japan gave the game a stonking 95%. Meristation and Spaziogames awarded it a hefty 90% each, and among users it scored three 10/10 and three 9/10. It's clearly a bit of a polarising game not least because some think that vaguely left wing politics shouldn't be anywhere near their games. So it's not for everyone. But there's equally clearly in the opinion of some, many solid elements there in terms of the game itself. So if you think it might be for you, you might just love it and enjoy it a lot.

Me? I'm intrigued and fascinated. The trailer wasn't that informative but the reviews on Metacritic emboldened me. I'm going to get this game and give it a go! Ideally I'd like it in physical with cool cover art and I'll try asking the developers for that, but if not I'll certainly give the eShop version a whirl and a spin!

I'm intrigued. I've not seen any SJW games on Switch so it would be cool to see at least a few good ones. As the Switch needs to connect to millennials to succeed the maximum it can this can only be a good thing. If you're unhappy this game wasn't written personally for you then just move on, there's no shortage of traditional games on Switch. Nobody should be telling anyone else that Switch can't have a game because it doesn't fit your politics/religion/beliefs. The more the merrier. Let creativity unfurl, let thousands of beautiful gaming flowers bloom. That way Switch can really have something for everyone. And that's good for everyone.

Why include a plastic case when they include a steelbook case? What's the point?

Also can I point out that like for many this is the first time I've been seriously interested in buying anything LABO. That's a big shift. I expect this to sell like hot cakes outside a weed shop. I had written off LABO but LABO may be just beginning to take off.

I'm hoping Nintendo uses this for MIIVERSE interaction between users.

I'm surprised @Damo didn't reference Oculus Go in the article. That isn't tethered to anything.

I'm going to to get the starter pack to encourage Nintendo VR. I also plan to get the Oculus Quest this year for serious VR.

I'm not getting this. By the end of the year all being well I expect a 1TB card will be avail for £60. Until then my 128GB £17 card from Base will suffice especially as it supplements a 64GB £10 card from Amazon.

I like this. I might get it if it's done well.

I kould have ordered the Xbox version of Mortal Kombat but I reckon the Switch version being portable and sociable will end up more fun than the technically graphically slightly superior Xbox version. For than reason I reckon the Switch version will end up with better user ratings than the Xbox version. Switch wins!
