I was super excited when this got first announced for the 3ds, with the 3ds being my main go to for gaming (& no longer having a Wii U) but after reading this review then watching Gamexplain's video review on it, I'll probably pass on this for now.
That's mostly due to the router at home though, just refusing to work on any of the handhelds in the house, so accessing & playing course world would be impossible (unless I popped to my nearest library, McDs, town centre for wifi etc), missing out on a rather big chunk of the game.
Creating levels & playing the 100 Nintendo levels on the go sound great but with the issue above & 7th Dragon III & Picross 3D out the same day, I'll wait on this & hopefully pick it up when the router is working again.
Along with Pokemon Blue, this was one of my favourite childhood games. Still got my gbc cartridge in my room.
Don't think I ever beat it but I remember just playing the levels over and over endlessly, collecting all of the letters, racing to nab those pink balloons etc. Good times.
Awesome to see some love for Return to PopoloCrois, such wonderfully charming game (my hidden gem of the year).
Its a fairly solid list but generally not for me given the lack of Bravely Second, FE Awakening, 7th Dragon Code & most of all, Stella Glow. SG has its typical harem moments here & there but otherwise, it's one of the best on the system, with an incredibly engrossing story, excellent va & extremely likeable cast of characters. I'd even say it surpasses the FE series in nearly every way as a result.
Much of Nintendo's focus will be on the Switch of course but I can still see 'em supporting the 3ds for a fair while yet, at least through to the end of 2017 with the likes of: DQ VIII, Ever Oasis, Yoshi's Woolly World, Pikmin, Mario Sports, new Layton entry, Yokai Watch, MH Stories etc & other possible future WiiU ports.
The ds still got some excellent games very late into its cycle even with the 3ds starting to hit form with Kirby Mass Attack, Pokemon White/Black 1 & 2 etc so I think it's nothing to worry about for the time being. Wait til the Switch launches & sales numbers come in after its first several months & go from there.
Soo much awesomeness! These really are shaping up to be truly special.
Love the idea of setting up a new league along with returning trainers from previous games too (I wonder how the anime will handle that). I am even more undecided on the starters now though aha, as I'm really liking all three final evolutions.
That's a shame as its an rather enjoyable game with a fair amount of content, a steal at £25.
Not as addictive & engrossing as the other rhythm games on the system imo (Hatsune Miku, Rhythm Thief, Curtain Call) but still great to have another on the 3ds.
As an early 90s baby, Pokemon was pretty much my childhood & that video was just beautiful, summed up those feels and memories in a nutshell; rocking a gb/c, collecting the cards, playing & trading with friends, late nights etc
Sun / Moon really are looking to be something special - don't think I've seen this level of hype & excitement since the first generation.
That's a shame as its not a bad game in its own right despite its flaws. As my first into the Metroid universe, I was mildly surprised (bearing my wifi doesn't work on my 2ds at the mo so strictly sp for me) - visually it can be at times rather impressive (even on a 2ds) with some neat atmospheric moments & cool touches - mods & mech sidestep la Halo style.
Ball sections, pacing & difficulty spikes aside, it's occasionally enjoyable but it just doesn't do enough to hook or break the generic fps mold personally, as much as I enjoy SciFi/squad based premises. Had it been more tactical squad based like SW:Republic Commando (character backgrounds, personalities, issuing commands etc) with deeper lore it would have certainly helped me overlook its sp flaws.
Happy to hear. SMT IV is a maybe if its out before Pokemon Sun / Moon, but I'll most definitely be picking up 7th Dragon III as I loved the demo.
Regarding 7th Dragon III, I don't know if it's the official date or just a place holder for now but the site I pre-ordered it on, Zavvi UK, has it listed for 1st October. Not getting my hopes up but that would certainly be awesome if so.
Too much coming out in September & October for me to import anyway with Recore, DQVII, Disney Magical World 2 & Megamix so I'm happy to wait til Spring '17 for this.
Nice to hear, it's a neat collection of fun games.
I decided to import a copy around a month back after watching its price fall over a week to sub $20, so with shipping it came to £20. Very much worth it after playing (& constantly coming back to) Power Drift & Puyo Puyo.
Day one for sure! Love the Layton games but it'll certainly be refreshing to play as a female lead for a change, plus having a dog as a sidedekick too (which I love-reminds me of Fondue from Rhythm Thief).
Might nab that last one, the cardboard suit, just for the laughs.
20 hours + & still working my way through the 3* village quests but finally finished crafting the LS & Bnahabra outfit for my MC last night so I'm pretty happy with MHG so far.
I was on the fence after playing the Generations demo but decided to pick up a copy last Friday anyway. 10 hours in & I'm thoroughly enjoying it, especially decking out the prowlers & visiting some of the previous villages. 4U almost turned me off the series completely but Gen has just sucked me back in so glad to hear it's doing well.
Certainly a shame about Disney Art Academy though as its a brilliant game with some great updates over Pokemon AA
Not wishing to get myself involved in the above but as someone who studied Law for a year at college, I have to agree with the points made by Shikabane, Bulbasaurus & Ryu.
Granted the guy in question is entitled to say & think what he wants as Kirk has mentioned but venting on a social media site & insulting a nation, knowing it was gonna be seen & drawn attention to around the world is beyond stupidity & the company were in their right to do what they did.
If the guy needed to vent, he could have found many alternative ways to do so; run, gym, have a brew, play something musical etc. We're not perfect & prone to outbreaks of any sorts of course but you misplace that trust placed in you by any employer / company & violate your contract t & c's, then you gotta accept the consequences for your actions.
Working as an SEN LSA, I've lost count the number of times I've asked students to stop & think about what you're gonna do in lessons & what the outcome will be. Only takes a few seconds but it sure can make a difference.
Hope the guy learns from his mistake.
Brings back good times - I remember playing this endlessly with my brother when we were younger. Still got my ps2 copy in my room.
It wasn't perfect but like the Worms series back then, it was certainly good, chaotic fun with siblings & friends.
Saddened to hear about that it's sequel was never given a chance.
Yeah I heard about that & I have to admit after watching the trailer for it, it's a really cool & significant addition for BotW. One I may keep an eye on if the NX turns out to be a handheld.
I unfortunately got caught up in the hype for them at the time & had about 5 or 6 over the course of owning a Wii U. The only one in the house now is my brothers Chibi Robo (since I got him the bundle for Xmas) as well as a small handful of AC:HHD cards we both have too.
The idea at the time certainly sounded great with plenty of potential for Nintendo to really flesh 'em out & add real significance to 'em with its own Skylanders game/Nintendo Land 2 etc outside of 1 up's, rupees, costumes etc that you get now.. guess Nintendo has other plans.
Fair play to those that like & collect 'em anyways.
Great review, glad to hear the game's excellent - I really enjoyed the demo especially the battle system & music which is just fantastic. The lack of 3d doesn't bother me at all as I use my 2 ds more nowadays & my fav game of the year so far, Stella Glow, has practically none which didn't hinder my enjoyment of the game.
As its now coming to EU at some point, I'm happy to hold off importing & just waiting til then. Put that money towards Disney Art Academy next week.
At that price I'll definitely pick up the Professor Layton movie - awesome film & soundtrack plus it'll help make the commute to work a bit more I interesting. Hopefully it won't eat up too much of the sd card though.
Put about an hour into the demo last night & whilst I'm not a massive fan of dungeon crawlers, this was actually pretty fun with its third person view.
It's got a great soundtrack imo, the story sounds rather good & I quite liked the battle system too, reminded me of Persona Q with its animations and interface.
Gonna cost a fair bit to import it but with it current content (character customization, side quests, cat cafe, soundtrack etc) plus a rather nice artbook to go with, I think it'll be worth it.
Some tempting stuff up there especially since Thursday is payday for me but I'll probably save my funds for 7th Dragon III Code & maybe MH Generations (still on the fence with after playing the demo) later in the month.
If not, I might pick up Lego SW:TFA at some point for the 3ds (though I'm slightly wary given its current bugs & crashes going by its day one patch).
Disappointing to hear given its funding & years in development.
Might pick up the 3ds version but only if it's not too far behind, at sub £20 & has received some gameplay patches (going by the other reviews online).
Still incredibly excited for his next game, Recore, regardless of the issues surrounding this.
Flicking back & forth at the mo with Sunset Overdrive on XB1 & Kirby Planet Robobot & Fire Emblem on 3ds but I might nab a physical copy of PM:Sticker Star (again) for that price.
Otherwise I'm good til 7th Dragon III / MH Generation releases.
I'll be honest, the only conference I had any real interest in & that I watched all the way through was MS, but I did flick back & forth with the tree house stuff on here.
Although I'm not much of a fan of the series, I was still very impressed by LoZ:BotW especially with that beautiful soundtrack & visuals. My absolute highlight out of the three had to be Rhythm Paradise Megamix though (honourable mentions to Recore, Gravity Rush 2, TLG & Sun/Moon). Gonna be a long four months til it drops here in the UK but I'm soo excited for it after playing the demo.
Overall I thought it was fairly good, not Nintendo's best but alot on the horizon to look forward to with; MH Generations, 7th Dragon III Code, Dragons Quest VII, Sun/Moon & Ever Oasis on the 3ds front.
Certainly a bummer for those holding out for a physical copy in NA but as for living in the UK, I very happy to hear about the above - was starting to worry it was going to go digital only after seeing NoA announcement for it.
Definitely a day one buy anyway plus its out just before my b'day too which is a nice bonus.
June 10th can't come quick enough! I was already sold seeing it follows in the same style as Triple Deluxe (which I utterly loved) - the additions of mechs this time round & more keychains to find / collect just sweetened the deal.
After Awakening (which was my first into the series & I loved every bit of the 120hrs I put into it), I was originally excited for Fates, but the long wait here & all that just sapped away & eventually killed off my excitement.
I'll probably pick it up come fall but with my upcoming purchases over the summer, final few battles in Stella Glow to finish off & the release of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered this week, I'm cover on the srpg front.
Hope everyone in EU enjoys their time with it anyway
Still gonna import from the US once it releases but I do hope this isn't a sign of things to come regarding future Atlus/Sega games over here In Europe. Disappointing news anyway
Whilst I've only put about 10 hours into my copy of YW, I have to say it's certainly a unique & refreshing take on the rpg / monster collecting side of things despite its shortcomings in some areas.
It obviously pulls some big similarities with Pokemon but it does a lot of its own things such as the battle system, having a huge city to explore plus its incredibly deep in Japanese mythology & references. If YW had came out around the same time the 'mon cartoon/series first started, maybe things could have been completely different though with the 'mon series trying to innovate more.
I think it's a great rival nonetheless & healthy competition for the Pokemon series, hopefully keeping GameFreak on their toes & upping the bar with each new entry.
I'd love to see some footage / info on character customization & if 'mon contests / movies are gonna return too (or something completely new to replace 'em)
Nice to see, would have been tempted to pick up Sticker Star and Dream Team again if my copy of Odin Sphere Storybook Edition wasn't arriving the day before.
Certainly recommend LC:The Chase Begins anyway - not as polished as its Wii U sibling of course but still lots of fun with the missions, city to explore & all.
Similar to what Jolt said, I love the art style, the settings, characters, music of the series but the gameplay / mapping just never clicked with me despite my efforts with; Persona Q (40hrs), EOIV (20hrs) along with the demos for EU1 & 2 (5hrs or so).
V certainly looks fantastic going by those trailers so I hope fans enjoy it & that it also gets an EU release.
I'm don't keep up with them either, just news articles I remember reading on here about their plans for future Ace Attorney games, money issues, mobile focus & all that. I have pretty much the same view as you do when it comes to them anyway...
But if they ever make a Viewtiful Joe 3 (fortunate enough to have 1 & 2 on GC), give Monster Hunter Stories a western release & send some more love towards the Ace Attorney series & it's spinoffs, I may look kindly upon 'em..briefly til they mess up..again aha
Aha just about. Another game to look forward to later in the year anyway
Keeping my fingers crossed for a western release of Monster Hunter Stories (far more excited for that) but I might pick this up if I have spare funds - Julys already busy for me with Star Ocean, 7th Dragon III Code & EU copy of Disney Art Academy.
No problem at all - just seeing as how Dual Destinies & the Trilogy only got eshop releases along with Capcoms focus on mobile/digital & which main ip's of theirs gets a physical run nowadays.
I was rather hoping this would get a physical run (even if it was limited) given the success of Dual Destinies & the Trilogy but seems Capcom didn't wanna take the risk (given their financial state).

7th Dragon III Code for myself & Picross 3D Round 2 for the younger brother.

Re: The Pokémon Sun and Moon Demo Limits Online Functions on Old 3DS Models
Take it's the same for the 2ds too then? (Had a similar issue playing MH Generations on there)
Not that I mind anyway though as I generally play my ds/3ds games on there nowadays (prefer it to the n3ds).
Re: Nintendo Download: 20th October (Europe)
Physical copy of RP:Megamix for absolute sure & if I can get my wifi to work on the 3ds, the Sun/Moon demo too.
Re: The Art of Fire Emblem: Awakening Book is Now Just Days Away
Pre-ordered this several month's back. Been a fair wait but still very much looking forward to it.
Re: Review: Rhythm Heaven Megamix (3DS)
Really liked the first one on ds & I loved the demo for this so definitely picking up a copy day one.
Perfect timing too with it releasing the day before half term here.

Re: New Atlus and SEGA Publishing Deal is Great News For European Gamers
Awesome news! Not my preferred publisher out there but if it helps get those games out here in the UK & Europe, I'll take it.
Guess I'll hold off on importing 7th Dragon III Code then, save me some import costs
Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U and 3DS Games of 2016 - Summer Edition
Main three I'm most excited for are Pokemon Sun/Moon, Rhythm Paradise Megamix & Dragon Quest VII.
Plan on picking up 7th Dragon III Code & Phoenix Wright as well. Gunvolt 2 might get a look in provided it isn't too pricey to import.
Re: Nintendo Download: 7th July (Europe)

Flicking back & forth at the mo with Sunset Overdrive on XB1 & Kirby Planet Robobot & Fire Emblem on 3ds but I might nab a physical copy of PM:Sticker Star (again) for that price.
Otherwise I'm good til 7th Dragon III / MH Generation releases.

Re: Video: These Fresh Character Trailers For Etrian Odyssey V Will Boost Your "Excitement" Stat
Similar to what Jolt said, I love the art style, the settings, characters, music of the series but the gameplay / mapping just never clicked with me despite my efforts with;
Persona Q (40hrs), EOIV (20hrs) along with the demos for EU1 & 2 (5hrs or so).

Re: Monster Hunter Generations Launches on 15th July With a Limited Edition New 3DS XL
Keeping my fingers crossed for a western release of Monster Hunter Stories (far more excited for that) but I might pick this up if I have spare funds - Julys already busy for me with Star Ocean, 7th Dragon III Code & EU copy of Disney Art Academy.
Looks great anyway, (especially those XLs!)

At least it's coming west in some form or other.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th May (North America)
Just an import copy of Disney Art Academy for me.
Re: Disney Magical World 2 Heads To North America This October
Hopefully the EU release isn't too far behind but I'll definitely b importing a copy day one anyway.
Looks far too good to miss this time round seeing as the first totally slipped under my radar.
Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice to Arrive on the 3DS eShop in September
Saddened by (but also understandable) that it's an eshop only release but I'll certainly keep an eye on this come September as it does look fantastic.
Guess I'll be picking up Dual Destinies in preparation then seeing as its on sale tomorrow.
