For all of you North American JRPG fans looking for a good reason to dust off the ol' 3DS this summer, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD is only a couple weeks away from release. This next entry in the 7th Dragon series is the latest RPG to be put out by SEGA, and footage of the game is certainly promising. Naturally, not everyone is quite ready to get onboard and give it a go, so SEGA has put up a demo on the eShop to try and sway those of you who still aren't sure.
The demo sets you up with a premade party of characters and sets a character level cap at 10, but saves will transfer over and give you extra skill points among other benefits. If nothing else, it should serve as a nice appetizer for what's to come, and those extra save-transfer goodies are a nice plus. The demo is live on the eShop now, for those of you who are interested.

What do you think? Will you be downloading the demo? Are you looking forward to this game? Drop us a comment in the section below.

nice!!! I'm getting this game. (^_^ )
already have it pre-ordered and everything.
@Utena-mobile I got to try it out for a few minutes at E3. I must say, it's not my cup of tea, but I can see it's appeal. I actually might give the demo a shot, maybe it'll change my mind.
Don't mind me, I'll just be here in Europe and cry.
And yet Nintendo of America doesn't provide demos for games that have them in other countries...
Looks at Hyrule Warriors Legends
Some of these 3DS RPG demos in the past have been great. I've sunk hours into the Etrian Odyssey 4, Bravely Default, Legend of Legacy demos.
Probably not this time though. I don't know why but this demo didn't do much for me. I'm still not sure what sets this game apart from other RPGs.
Wasn't sure about this one, but giving the demo a shot will surely make my decision! Very happy they put this demo up, also tomorrow monster hunter demo will be up for those that haven't gotten codes, so the eshop will be busy busy haha.
So is this again one of those games that will never see release in Europe?
It's just a bunch of words & numbers smashed together isn't it? Jrpg game titles are just wacky these days
definitely will try the demo and I already have this game preordered. Can't wait to play it
... I'll maybe download the demo but my expectations are loooow. I love JRPGs but the 3DS has had a swath of really awful ones. Just incredibly boring, shallow, and lazy. A few ideas slopped together with bad writing and incredible monotony. This seems like another one.
Although I wasn't expecting a demo for this one, at least we get the chance to try it out because for some reason, it looks like it might either be a hidden 3DS gem or a generic JRPG. I've already downloaded it so I'll give it a try at some point today between Bravely Default sessions.
Just a clarification note... The tense of the title is a bit misleading, since "is getting" makes it sound like the demo hasn't been released yet. But then the body text says (twice) that it's already released. Not a big deal, just a little confusing. I'd update the title to "has a Demo" or something similarly present-tense.
I downloaded it on the eShop yesterday. It's already there.
@Darkthany
Probably nothing. The previously entries in the series were utterly generic, and in fact, the series was originally made as a cheap DQ3 clone, cashing in on Etrian Odyssey's success as a throwback title. Sometimes it's hard to work with a shaky foundation, especially since this is a new development team (old one when bust, since...well, Stella Glow was their first and last good game, and I'm under the distinct impression that the staff had to make it while Yakuza held guns to their heads...)
It might still be good, but I wouldn't hold my breath considering we're practically swimming in good RPGs on the 3DS.
My 3ds has never seen dust on the outside only that magnetic screen for dust. It gets played daily!
@CanisWolfred
Ooo Stella Glow, another good demo that sold me on the game.
But yeah, the 'problem' is that the genre is well served on 3DS. New releases have to bring something unique to the table and do it well.
@MitchVogel well, tbh, I haven't played the demo yet. (-. - )
But you know how sometimes there's something about a game that hits all the right buttons? That's what I'm getting here. I like the art style a lot, and it seems like a fun (maybe a little cheesy) jrpg, and I even like the in-game character models, and combat system. (^_^ )
Don't like the characters design.. Feels so repeated over and over again. Why no body invest more time in designing characters anymore?
Still no news of a UK release. This is so pants.
Put about an hour into the demo last night & whilst I'm not a massive fan of dungeon crawlers, this was actually pretty fun with its third person view.
It's got a great soundtrack imo, the story sounds rather good & I quite liked the battle system too, reminded me of Persona Q with its animations and interface.
Gonna cost a fair bit to import it but with it current content (character customization, side quests, cat cafe, soundtrack etc) plus a rather nice artbook to go with, I think it'll be worth it.
I can already tell from the comments that I'm going to be one of, like, three people in America to really like this game. I loved the demo, and I currently have the game pre-ordered.
Right now, I'm, like, waste deep in Etrian Odyssey Untold and am LOVING IT!! If I can just kick my EOU addiction for 5 minutes!!
@OdnetninAges you're not the only one. I love the demo. It is a fun little game and I can't wait to get my hands on the full game. It is definitely one of my favorite demos and seems like a game that I'd play often.
... And here I sit in Europe, waiting for a game that will probably never come... unless I have the same luck as with Rune Factory 4
@FantasiaWHT Got a 9/10 here!
