Yo-Kai Watch 2 comes out in North America and Australia this October, but it has now been revealed that European players will have to wait until Spring 2017 to get their hands on the game.
The news was confirmed today by the official Yo-Kai Watch Twitter account:
Europe had to endure a delay for the first Yo-Kai Watch game, but in this case the timing seems especially odd, given that Australia and New Zealand are getting the title in the coming months.

i dont even care
Impatient English-speaking Europeans could just import from Australia if they so desire. It should cost about the same as it would locally (full-priced 3DS games are AU$59.95, though major retailers typically sell big titles for around $45-$49 at launch).
Of course it will be spring, this is more reasonable strategy. November and December will be claimed by Ppkemon games. But that doesn't mean I am happy. I like 1st game, and I heard that 2nd one is better.
@Scirm What you said + probably the time to prepare a French / German / Italian localization ?
First Final Fantasy 15 and now this. At least the download for Tales of Berseria gets activated in around 24 hours.
It's not terribly odd about Australia and New Zealand getting it earlier. That's exactly what happened with the first game, too.
I think the different translations are the reason for the Spring 2017 release. Maybe it's for the better, the 3DS has enough games this Fall. Together with Dragon Quest 8, Ever Oasis, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, SMT IV: Apocalypse, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, Lady Layton and hopefully Monster Hunter Stories 2017 is looking like a nice farewell year for the 3DS in Europe.
Considering Pokemon will be "The" game for the 3ds this Christmas it isn't a surprise.
still waiting on inazuma eleven go galaxy
Not really a delay. It's the same situation as the first game. Holiday for the US and Aus/NZ, spring for Europe.
It's the same situation as most second or third party Nintendo RPGs.
Is anyone surprised?
Probably due to all the languages Europe has. Personally though, I'm getting my share of virtual monsters from Pokémon ORAS, Pokémon GO, and in a few months Pokémon Sun & Moon! Not that I wouldn't enjoy this franchise, but it always seems like I miss out on things if I try to fanatically play multiple series in the same genre.
As in, I'd rather be a Pokédex completing Pokémon Master than a rookie trainer AND a Youkai, ehh, what do you call it? Youkai buster? Oh wait that's the wrong game series.
Too much coming out in September & October for me to import anyway with Recore, DQVII, Disney Magical World 2 & Megamix so I'm happy to wait til Spring '17 for this.
@Oubie Completely agree. 3DS will go out with a bang and not a whimper!
The first game's barely been out 3 months here so makes sense.
I'm sure Viz Media will reinforce the statement that's is gonna be HUGE someday...
Oh shoot...
Shoot, NA could be getting the third version at that time for all we know.
With all the Pokemon hype, I'm sort of surprised that Yo-Kai Watch 2 isn't coming out in NA sooner. The second season of the anime just started up, and from what I understand many Yo-Kai in season 2 are in the second games.
I want both franchises to do well, but releasing that close to Sun/Moon can't be too helpful for Yo-Kai Watch.
@Oubie With the staggered releases Europe gets 3DS will go well into 2018, but probably only a handful of games. Unless they decided to release some of those Japanese only games they've been announcing lately (At least 4 big name games come to mind).
@Trinexx I imagine Yo-Kai Watch doing much better in Europe because we get the games much later. Most will be about finished, if not ready for change of pace, with Sun and Moon by Spring 2017.
Don't see the problem. I'll be playing it in October.😜
It's later the coincide with the anime/merch here.
@Nin10doh Yeah, maybe we'll see games like Etrian Odyssey V, Dragon Ball Fusions, Detective Pikachu, Puzzle & Dragons X, Yo-Kai Watch 3, Dragon Quest 11, Inazuma Eleven and The Snack World among others in 2017 and perhaps a few in 2018.
@Nin10doh By spring next year we'll be looking forward to the NX (That is provided Nintendo has told us what it is by then... ), so that release date for "Yo-kai watch 2" has more of a "Let's bring out something for 3DS feel to it...
So when is this media juggernaut going to take off? Pretty sure it should have done so at least twenty times if we are to believe their PR people
@MysticX I won't be an early adopter anyway. Unless that's the only way I can get my hands on Monster Hunter: Stories, then my hands are tied. I sure hope noone from Nintendo is reading this.
@Oubie That's my thinking. Only time will tell, cause there are still some great great games that have yet to come to this side of the world.
@Nin10doh I'll hold off on buying as well, until there is a decent assortment of games i want available for it, the only Nintendo device i ever bought day 1 was the Gameboy advance, but that had "Super Mario advance" (SMB2 is my favourite Mario game EVER ^_^ ) to pull me through the initial, rather barren time of its lifespan...
Couldn't get into the combat from the demo.. probably didnt spend enough time with it. Wonder if 1st one will go on sale before second one comes out, while the second (and 3rd) seems like better games, i wouldnt mind giving Yo-kai a try.
Might be more fun than Pokemon Y was for me, since i lost my save file, and all saved pokemons i had had imported, my hype for Y kinda vanished.. rather wait for Sun and Moon and Yo-kai Watch could be a game i could fill in that time with.
