Even at its regular price, the 2ds is excellent value for money, so this is a steal.
I imported an NA white/green 2ds bundled with MK7 a few months back & have to say I actually prefer it more to my n3ds (which I absolutely love anyway). Much more comfortable to hold imo, with a nice weight & feel to it, reminding me very much of the gba with its design & L/R bumpers.
Loved it so much I went out and bought the 20th Pokemon Anniversary Blue 2ds too.
Although I traded in my Wii U a few weeks back after picking it up at launch day, I would say in terms of fun factor & first party games, the console is far from a disappointment, especially for family gaming & mp with friends imo - Nintendo Land being an absolute riot & the best to showcase that.
It's not perfect (what console is) but I still certainly enjoyed my time with it. It just didn't have enough staying power for me personally despite its exclusives which is why I eventually traded it in towards a PS4.
I'll keep an eye on the NX, more so if it's a handheld (without gimmicks) but for the future, I'm far more than happy with the 3ds as my main Nintendo fix & GameCube as back up.
Most of my time will probably be spent on the ps4 with Valkyria Chronicles, Star Ocean 5 & Odin Sphere but the 3ds still has a solid line up - I'm certainly looking forward to:
Disney Art Academy
Kirby Planet Robobot
7th Dragon III Code
Dragon Quest
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
Pokemon Sun/Moon
& hopefully Monster Hunter Stories to finish the year off with.
Already imported an NA copy of Yokai Watch back in March but I'll probably pick up an UK copy come summer (as it'll be nice to play on my main 3ds) anyway.
Few weeks break for my wallet then til Disney Art Academy & Valkyria Chronicles release next month - gives me time to finish off Ratchet & Clank & continue making my way through an rpg trio on the 3ds of Bravely Second, Stella Glow & Return to Popo'.
One of my most anticipated games of the year so a definite day one! I absolutely adored Triple Deluxe & with even more content & mechs I'm soo looking forward to this.
Gonna be the odd one out...but I'm going to say that Happy Home Designer is my personal favourite.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adored New Leaf when it first came out. But over time having to spend what little free time I had due to work & all on de-weeding the town, watering flowers, talking to all the neighbours etc when firing up the game just got too tedious for me so I put it down for good.
In HHD I don't have to worry about that & I loved the designing aspect in NL above all so this suited me perfectly. It's not perfect & although I've only put in a fraction of time in it compared to NL (20hrs vs 300hrs +) I personally found it to be far more enjoyable & relaxing (though I do miss going to the Island in local/online).
Although I enjoy the WiiU, it rarely gets used nowadays save for when my younger brother has his friends over - just endless fits of laughter & multiplayer mayhem for the next several hours then.
Out of that list, I'll pick up Tokyo Mirage Sessions day one & work through the backlog til Yooka Laylee releases later this year (hopefully).
Still unsure whether or not I'll actually pick up a copy come mid May but I preordered Birthright just in case (free shirt & home theme are nice extras anyway)
Not really fussed about the special edition myself with all three routes (just too much FE overload for my liking) but for those that want it (for actual gaming not scalping) I do hope N restocks more of it. Just getting ridiculous otherwise.
Been rather put off the series after playing 4U (despite being a fan of the previous entries) but all this with the new look, similar pokemon mechanics & being able to hatch & venture around with your own monster sounds great & refreshing to me
Very nice list there, plenty of life left in the 3ds still.
Already got an imported NA copy of Yo-kai Watch but I'll pick up an UK copy once it releases next month & for the rest of my rpg fix, the
Legend of Legacy, Bravely Second & Stella Glow have me covered.
Just waiting on 'mon Moon/Sun & hopefully MH Stories then.
(Also, where's the love for Return to PopoloCrois:SoS Fairytale? Such a gem.)
Nice, that's good to hear. I was originally gonna hold off til April or May to pick it up but decided to pick it up last Saturday after playing the demo the night before.
Not a fan of fighters in general but really enjoying the game (in relatively short bursts mind you) with the level of customization, animations of the 'mon & their special moves, easy to grasp yet difficult to master gameplay & of course..Braixen <3
Some extra playable 'mon (future dlc maybe) would be nice but aside from that, I'm pretty happy with the game. Just hope the controller gets restocked soon.
Echoing what many others have said above, I prefer to have physical copies of my games; to have a case (& hopefully a nice manual to go with) to hold & look at & to be able to see my collection grow along with being able to share games with my younger brother.
I've made a few rare digital purchases in the past like SteamWorld Heist, Pokemon Yellow, Muramasa Rebirth & Radio Hammer but only because of the reasonable price at the time, their genre & a physical copy being extremely unlikely or very hard to come by.
I'm happy to wait on some games for a possible physical copy in the future too like with Life Is Strange LE & Child Of Light.
& If I can spare some funds after bills & rent have been paid each month, I'd happily import like I did with Return To PopoloCrois & will do so again with Sega 3D Classics Collections & 7th Dragon Code.
If Nintendo somehow ever started following MS with offering previous games in a series as a bonus or incentive for pre-ordering/buying games (eg Just Cause 3 getting JC2 or Quantum Break with Alan Wake, it's dlc & American Nightmare) then maybe I'd be a bit more interested.
Still ploughing my way through Return to Popo', Yo-Kai Watch & Stella Glow (loving!) so I won't be picking anything up gaming wise til Sega 3D Classics Collection drops at the end of next month.
Oooh PW: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies for £9?! I'll be picking that up before the end of the month then.
Still interested in Pokken but I'm either gonna rent it for the time being or wait til a bit later on in the year to pick it up. Loved what I've seen especially the customization, visuals, Braixen etc but not enough to get it day one being a fighting game & everything.
One of my most anticipated games of the year after the ND the other week- loved Pokemon Art Academy to pieces, by far my most played game on the system (400hrs +), so with this being more of the same & with a Disney theme, I'm really looking forward to this.
Liking those face plates too, especially the vintage one. Hopefully I can nab one of 'em.
Already got my pre-order in for the UK release in June but if I can, I'd happily import the NA copy in May too.
Still too eariler to say but from the game trailer shown, it seems to be off to a rather bad start following in the same steps as Sticker Star.
My only experience with the series is TTYD which I found & picked for the GameCube a few months back & just fell in love with it with the script, partners, locations, battle system etc, & also Sticker Star.
Despite picking it up day one, it just didn't click or hook me in the same way although I did like its jazzy soundtrack & visuals. Only put in 12 hours til I eventually gave up.
Remaining hopeful that Nintendo will show off details nearer the release of some features from the earlier games but that's a long shot more than anything I guess. It does look pretty though but that's not enough alone to really keep my interest in it.
I dunno why but I kinda got a feeling Sega will pull a few surprises regarding this (good ones) given how much time they're spending on Sonic Boom Fire & Ice given Boom's reception, along with the retail release of 3d classics collections next month & Sonics inclusion in that.
I'd personally love to see a Sonic game using Sega's own take on the Ubi Art engine, something similar to Rayman Origins with tons of levels, snappy fluid movement, boss battles, characters to unlock & play as etc. Looking forward to the reveal anyway.
Sounds pretty good. I'll wait & see how my time goes with Birthright first though if I pick it up in May, providing the wait til then hasn't killed off any excitement I've got left for the game too.
Otherwise I'll just stick with Stella Glow - my copy came eariler today & already sunk in 4 hours. Just been fantastic so far.
Physical copy of Stella Glow for me this week, been looking forward to it for ages! Tempted to get the Launch Edition from Nintendo Store but wasn't completely sold on the goodies included for the price tag so went with Zavvi instead, save a bit of money.
Rune Factory 4 is mighty tempting too - thinking about importing a physical copy next few weeks or next month but £40 to do so vs £17.50 digital (which I'm not massively keen on anyway)...decisions decisions.
Been playing Story of Seasons for a few hours here & there so far & generally liking it for the most part outside of its rather slow gameplay. This however sounds much more appealing with the addition of a charming story & quests to go alongside the farming.
My import copy should be arriving along with my NA 2ds this Thursday or Friday - going by the above & other reviews, it certainly looks like it was worth it.
Will miss seeing it in glorious 3d on the 2ds but it's looks so beautiful and charming regardless. Can't wait.
Rather nice little line up there, bit of variety & all.
For 3ds:
Stella Glow - definitely my most anticipated game of the year so very much looking forward to it's release next friday.
Kirby Planet Robo'.
Disney Art Academy.
Import copy of Sega 3ds Classics Collection (as well as 7th Dragon Code in July).
& Yokai Watch
(Rhythm Heaven Megamix is a definite too as well)
I thought it was good. Not amazing but not terrible either, with some nice humour (that Yokai Watch jig..) & pacing.
Already plan on getting Yokai Watch day one anyway but Rhythm Heaven MegaMix, Kirby Planet Robo' & Disney Art Academy absolutely stole the show for me. Beyond excited for 'em.
As for the others, MP:FF has peaked my interest but I'll wait & see if it's gonna be more multiplayer focused like Zelda Triforce or have a solid sp adventure to go with. Liked the addition of snes games too so I'll pick up Earthbound & SMW at some point.
On the WiiU front, looking forward to Tokyo Mirage the most, probably the only one I'll be picking up along with Pokken Tournament for the year but nice to see there's some love at least coming for the system til Sumner.
More than likely yeah but I wouldn't mind a portable side adventure to it or a spin off etc like something similar to Captain Toad but with a Pikmin setting.
Any Pikmin news is always good news so I'm happy either way
It looks like such amazing fun - I'd certainly be tempted to import an Japanese 2ds for it (& several other games of course). Got an NA 2ds along with Yokai Watch & Return to Popo' arriving by end of next week so if it comes across to the West, I'll import it for that (& pick up an EU copy too). Keeping my fingers crossed!
Til then, Project Mirai DX & Rhythm Thief have me covered for my rhythm fix.
Should be an interesting one, given it's not been long after the Pokemon Direct last week.
Long shot but I'm hoping for news on one or two of the below:
Rhythm Heaven The Best + for the West
More Yokai Watch goodness
Pikmin 4 reveal
Detective Pikachu release date (or anything 'mon related)
Disney Art Academy reveal
Monster Hunter Stories (or its Felyne spin off)
Nothing for me personal though Twilight Princess & Advance Wars are rather tempting as I've never experienced 'em before.
Couldn't resist any longer though after hearing & watching more on Return To PopoloCrosis so decided to put my funds towards an import copy of that & an NA 2ds instead being payday and all.
Blue was my first game ever & probably the only game to this day (along with Gold) that just completely consumed my life at the time. Of course gen 1/2 are rather dated after playing the recent mainline entries but experiencing them back then as a kid, the series was just on a whole other level compared to anything else at the time. They were truly something special & pure endless good fun.
I can still remember those childhood memories of trading & battling with friends & those I just met in the playground during primary school, sharing tips, guide books & stories, collecting & swapping the cards, going to the cinema to see the first 'mon movie (& crying like mad with that certain scene) & watching the adventures unfold on the tv with Ash, friends & Team Rocket.
Although there's been times where I've felt that I've outgrown the series (stopped playing after Gold & left it for several years before dipping back into the series with B & W 1 then completely with B/W 2 due to how brilliant & refreshing it was), Game Freak always find a way to hook me back in with some new features, new mysterious region to explore or a batch of new 'mon to capture & train.
X / Y are my favs to date followed by Blue & Gold & although Alpha Sapphire didn't quite hook me in the same way as those, I still thoroughly enjoyed it & I look very much forward to hearing more on Sun & Moon & any more future games whether it's a new conquest, mystery dungeon, ranger, snap or something completely different like Detective Pikachu & Pokken Tournament.
It was..different but I'm fairly happy with what was shown, especially the news about the 'mon bank - it does make me wonder about the transfer link only being between the R/B/Y releases & Sun / Moon & not the previous mainline entries.. Remade Kanto region set many years ahead? Maybe with some landscape differences similar to B&W 2 due to unusual weather?
Bit disappointed though there was no news on Detective Pikachu but guess (hopefully) that's being saved for the next ND.
Last time I played a game in the same genre was about 8-10 years ago with Dynasty Warriors on the psp which I loved.
Did pick up HW for WiiU back when it released but due to work etc & generally struggling to play games on the big screen, I never got round to playing it.
This however being on the 3ds suits me perfectly so will be picking this one up for sure regardless of the slowdown & all.
See that they've gone down the two versions route again but still, looks pretty good to me, liking the new logos. Whether it's still Gen 6 or the next, I'm excited to hear more.
Dunno why though but Ho-Oh &Lugia suddenly sprang to mind when I saw Sun & Moon
Blue - my first game ever & pretty much consumed my childhood.
Same with Gold too, loved the new features & the ability to travel back to the Kanto region once you became the Champ & most of all, for introducing my fav 'mon ever- Marill/Azumarill.
My absolute favs though have to be X/Y - loved the starters, region, customization etc & introduced what fast became my fav type ever, fairy type.
Honourable mention would go to White Version 2. Soo much content with a surprisingly good story & for getting a shiny dratini for beating the Forest Tree. Love my shiny Dragonite <3
Aside from those above & Alpha Sapphire which I wasn't too fond of, I haven't played any others in the series. Yellow will be joining that though later this week so rather excited for that.
Awesome, looking forward to this! I don't finish work til 2:45pm but anything Pokemon related & I'm all for it.
5mins is enough time to cram a fair bit in but I do hope there'll be some news on a release date for Detective Pikachu for the West, a trailer on their next possible main entry or even a new ranger game. I'll take anything either way, can't say no to more pokemon goodness.
As for Blue (which I've still got) & Red, I will as it'd be awesome to have my fav pokemon games all on one handheld (especially if Gold/Silver or HG/SS ever come to the eshop in future), but more likely April/ May onwards though - I'll have more than enough to keep me occupied til summer with Bravely Second, Stella Glow, Legend of Legacy, PSMD, Hyrule Warriors Legends & Pokken Tournament too plus others in my 3ds backlog.
As for the MegaMan collection, I'd be tempted if there was a physical version for UK/EU otherwise I'll wait til I finish the above or am need of a fun platformer.
To revisit & experience one of my favourite games ever & no doubt sink in tens or hundreds of hours more time into, I have no problems paying £9 at all. I can understand why others might be more hesitant or not bother at all for a 20yr old vc game at that price though.
Still got my copy of Blue but going to pick up Yellow come next week instead as I've always wished to experience that version being more in line with the anime. Happily pay the money for that than risk paying more & getting a fake or broken copy online.
Sounds like it's gonna be absolutely awesome then, excellent review. Looking very much forward to the Collector Edition next week (couldn't resist that artbook).
Still gotta finish off the first but hopefully I can do that before school/work starts again on monday.
Man, that opening & music certainly brings back those childhood memories. First game I ever got too.
Still got said copy of Blue (& Gold) along with my GBA/SP but it'd be awesome to have my pokemon collection all on my 3ds so definitely gonna be picking up Yellow on the eshop next week.
Will miss some of the newer features from X/Y (my favs since Blue) but it should certainly be refreshing to experience it all back at the beginning (without all the EVs/stats/breeding stuff etc), what made it soo fun, addicting & exciting to explore a mysterious new region in the first place.
No idea how I'll find & explore everything like I did back during those childhood years though ahaha.
PSMD for me this week, been really looking forward to it the last few months.
Still working my way through Bravely Default though so will probably wait to get my paws into PSMD til that's finished. Still, got it pre-ordered for sub £25 off Amazon, so pretty happy there.
Just Bravely Second CE to go next week & then my wallet can take a break til Stella Glow.
Will keep an eye on Return to Popo' too as it does look awesome with the mix of RF, FL & HM elements. Not a fan of digital in general but for £15-20 in a sale, I'll may bite.
Definitely giving the Stella Glow demo a whirl for sure! Been looking forward to the game ever since it got announced (far more excited for that than FE:Fates if I'm honest).
Aside from that, I'm all good with Bravely Default & Bravely Second demo to sink more time into. Solid week for EU otherwise.

Even at its regular price, the 2ds is excellent value for money, so this is a steal.

Loved it so much I went out and bought the 20th Pokemon Anniversary Blue 2ds too.
Re: Gallery: Take a Closer Look at the Pokémon Sun and Moon Box Art and Starter Pokémon
Have to say after watching the awesome Japanese trailer for it, I'm even more excited for Sun / Moon in November!
Soo glad character customization from XY is back & really digging the new region & the new starters too, especially Litten.
As for the box art & legendaries, I dig 'em both, really liking their design. Will certainly be picking up a copy of each come day one.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th May (Europe)
Just an import copy of Disney Art Academy for me when it's releases this Friday (in NA) - couldn't hold out til the EU July release due to excitement.

Re: Poll: Are You Confident About Nintendo's 3DS Focus for 2016?
Most of my time will probably be spent on the ps4 with Valkyria Chronicles, Star Ocean 5 & Odin Sphere but the 3ds still has a solid line up - I'm certainly looking forward to:
Disney Art Academy
Kirby Planet Robobot
7th Dragon III Code
Dragon Quest
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
Pokemon Sun/Moon
& hopefully Monster Hunter Stories to finish the year off with.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th April (Europe)
Already imported an NA copy of Yokai Watch back in March but I'll probably pick up an UK copy come summer (as it'll be nice to play on my main 3ds) anyway.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2016 - Spring Edition
Pokemon Sun / Moon are pretty much a definite buy from me anyway, but I plan on picking up:
Kirby Planet Robo' (Amazon UK have the bundle option available for pre-order btw)
Disney Art Academy
Rhythm Heaven
Import copy of 7th Dragon Code
There are a few others that I'll keep an eye on but those above are my most anticipated.
Re: Kirby: Planet Robobot Gets a Neat amiibo Bundle in Europe, While 'Kirby 3D Rumble' is Detailed

Re: Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Confirmed for 30th September in Europe
Provided I can find this for a good price, I'll pick this up.
Like what I've seen so far & given its extra development time, I think it'll surprise us..(in a good way hopefully)
Re: GAME Grabs UK Exclusivity of Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition
After playing Stella Glow (50hrs in & loving it), I'm finding it rather difficult to go back to Fire Emblem.
Already importing a copy of Disney Art Academy in May but if I've got some spare funds left over, I may pick up Birthright.
Re: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD Arrives in North America on 12th July
Awesome, another bit of jrpg goodness to look forward to. Already got my preorder in a few weeks back.
Hopefully it'll see a physical release over in the EU but if not, I'll happily stick with importing it above.

Glad to see Stella Glow get a mention, such a fantastic and beautiful game.
I was fortunate enough to get my copy two days before release, soo worth its price tag & the long wait over here.

I thought it was good. Not amazing but not terrible either, with some nice humour (that Yokai Watch jig..) & pacing.

Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
@Spike6958
More than likely yeah but I wouldn't mind a portable side adventure to it or a spin off etc like something similar to Captain Toad but with a Pikmin setting.
Any Pikmin news is always good news so I'm happy either way
Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
@Vineleaf
Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
Should be an interesting one, given it's not been long after the Pokemon Direct last week.
Long shot but I'm hoping for news on one or two of the below:
Rhythm Heaven The Best + for the West
More Yokai Watch goodness
Pikmin 4 reveal
Detective Pikachu release date (or anything 'mon related)
Disney Art Academy reveal
Monster Hunter Stories (or its Felyne spin off)
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd March (Europe)
Nothing for me personal though Twilight Princess & Advance Wars are rather tempting as I've never experienced 'em before.
Couldn't resist any longer though after hearing & watching more on Return To PopoloCrosis so decided to put my funds towards an import copy of that & an NA 2ds instead being payday and all.
Re: Feature: Reflections on 20 Years of Pokemon
Re: Reaction: The Pokémon Direct Was Short and Slick, But Had a Blunted Impact
It was..different but I'm fairly happy with what was shown, especially the news about the 'mon bank - it does make me wonder about the transfer link only being between the R/B/Y releases & Sun / Moon & not the previous mainline entries..
Remade Kanto region set many years ahead? Maybe with some landscape differences similar to B&W 2 due to unusual weather?
Bit disappointed though there was no news on Detective Pikachu but guess (hopefully) that's being saved for the next ND.
Re: Preview: Hyrule Warriors Legends Takes The Battle On The Road
Last time I played a game in the same genre was about 8-10 years ago with Dynasty Warriors on the psp which I loved.
Did pick up HW for WiiU back when it released but due to work etc & generally struggling to play games on the big screen, I never got round to playing it.
This however being on the 3ds suits me perfectly so will be picking this one up for sure regardless of the slowdown & all.
Re: Trademarks And Logos For The Next Pokémon Game Surface Online Ahead Of Tomorrow's Nintendo Direct
See that they've gone down the two versions route again but still, looks pretty good to me, liking the new logos. Whether it's still Gen 6 or the next, I'm excited to hear more.
Dunno why though but Ho-Oh &Lugia suddenly sprang to mind when I saw Sun & Moon
Re: Poll: Vote for Your Favourite Main Series Pokémon Games - 20th Anniversary Edition
Re: Nintendo Announces a Pokémon Direct to Get the Celebrations Started
Awesome, looking forward to this! I don't finish work til 2:45pm but anything Pokemon related & I'm all for it.
5mins is enough time to cram a fair bit in but I do hope there'll be some news on a release date for Detective Pikachu for the West, a trailer on their next possible main entry or even a new ranger game. I'll take anything either way, can't say no to more pokemon goodness.
Re: Yo-kai Watch Begins Its European Quest on 29th April
Picking it up day one, been looking forward to this for ages.
Re: Talking Point: Pokémon and Mega Man Show Us Extremes of Nostalgia's Value
Picking up Pokemon Yellow this week for sure.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th February (Europe)
Got my eshop card earlier today to put aside for Pokemon Yellow, so just that & a physical copy of Bravely Second:End Layer.
Then a nice two week break for my wallet til Stella Glow releases.
Re: Pokémon Red, Blue And Yellow European Pricing Is Confirmed
To revisit & experience one of my favourite games ever & no doubt sink in tens or hundreds of hours more time into, I have no problems paying £9 at all. I can understand why others might be more hesitant or not bother at all for a 20yr old vc game at that price though.
Still got my copy of Blue but going to pick up Yellow come next week instead as I've always wished to experience that version being more in line with the anime. Happily pay the money for that than risk paying more & getting a fake or broken copy online.
Re: Review: Bravely Second: End Layer (3DS)
Sounds like it's gonna be absolutely awesome then, excellent review. Looking very much forward to the Collector Edition next week (couldn't resist that artbook).
Still gotta finish off the first but hopefully I can do that before school/work starts again on monday.
Re: Video: Bask in the Nostalgia of the Latest Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow Virtual Console Trailer
Re: Exclusive Content and Modes Outlined for Pokkén Tournament, No DLC Currently Planned
Already sold on the game so definitely picking this up day one. Really liking the sound of the extra modes.
Certainly wouldn't say no to a portable version later down the line for the 3ds either.
Re: Nintendo Download: 18th February (Europe)
PSMD for me this week, been really looking forward to it the last few months.
Still working my way through Bravely Default though so will probably wait to get my paws into PSMD til that's finished. Still, got it pre-ordered for sub £25 off Amazon, so pretty happy there.
Just Bravely Second CE to go next week & then my wallet can take a break til Stella Glow.
Will keep an eye on Return to Popo' too as it does look awesome with the mix of RF, FL & HM elements. Not a fan of digital in general but for £15-20 in a sale, I'll may bite.
Re: Random: Beware Cuteness Overload With This Dancing Hatsune Miku Nendoroid
That was pretty awesome, definitely peaked my interest for sure!
Excellent game too Project Mirai DX - almost 100 hours In & still thoroughly enjoying it. Love the AR cards for it too.
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th February (Europe)
Definitely giving the Stella Glow demo a whirl for sure! Been looking forward to the game ever since it got announced (far more excited for that than FE:Fates if I'm honest).
Aside from that, I'm all good with Bravely Default & Bravely Second demo to sink more time into. Solid week for EU otherwise.
