@Lightsiyd VII Remake was 30fps on PS4, and 60fps on PS5. Are you really expecting Switch 2 to hit 60fps with PS4-level hardware?
I expect most 3rd party games from last gen and current gen to run at 30fps. Switch 2 has capable hardware, but as long as devs are making games first and foremost for more powerful hardware like PS5 & Series X, Switch will get the short end of the stick every time.
As long as Nintendo gives us games at 60fps, I’ll be content. (I swear to god, if they make Animal Crossing 30fps again…)
@Untempered-Link PC is such a huge market for games which are all on digital storefronts, and zero people complain about it. The outrage over game-key cards is overstated. If people truly want a game, they will get it in whatever form it’s available.
@canaryfarmer Mario Kart and Bananza are fully Switch 2 titles. Not like it’s a cross-gen title like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, or Metroid Prime 4 were/are.
Listen y’all, just because Mario Kart exists doesn’t mean everyone wants it, or that no other racer should be made. There are other racing games from Sonic, Crash, Kirby, F Zero, Diddy Kong that are just as fun to play.
For me, just catching and battling pokemon isn’t doing it for me anymore. I need a great story to entice me, but we’re still getting characters and mons with animations from 1998. Don’t even get me started on the lack of voice acting in 2025.
@AstroTheGamosian Makes me happy to know that you have a passion project. Good luck to you. Whether Nintendo accepts it or not, I hope you get your story out there in some form.
I really hope the series returns to more traditional style battles. I loved the world and writing of Origami King, but LOATHED the battles. Seriously, what were they thinking with that one? I hate when Nintendo changes stuff just for the sake of changing. I still remember reading about how Miyamoto got upset at Sticker Star’s early development because it was similar to the previous games. 🙄
I truly wonder if 3rd party devs got so pissed at how easily hackable the Switch 1 was that now no dev wants to put their ROM into physical media for Switch 2. Can’t upload Switch 2 ROMs online if there’s no physical media to dump the data from.
Actually, never mind. Downloadable games can have their data extracted as well. So I doubt it’s a piracy issue.
I liked BFBB, but didn’t like Cosmic Shake and returned it within 2 hours. I really hope the writing is more like BFBB, but I’m not holding my breath. New era SpongeBob writing just doesn’t compare to the old era.
Nah this is 100% Nintendo greed. The Switch 1 has no business going up in price 8 years later. It’s ancient tech.
To the people saying “at least Switch 2 price is still the same”, it’s only a matter of time until Nintendo raises it too. They’re just not gonna do it a so soon after launch.
My guess is that the Switch will not beat the PS2’s numbers without a price cut. And that Nintendo doesn’t care enough about claiming the #1 spot to do it. The fans shouldn’t care anyway, it’s nothing more than pointless bragging rights.
@Tayrailbridge We know now that the Switch 1 was going to have Mario Kart World, but they shelved it instead for Switch 2.
@SpaceboyScreams Every Smash title has taken a risk, and each of them have been unique so far. I enjoyed putting 1500 hrs into Ultimate, but it’s time for the next entry. Claiming that Ultimate is near perfect or that cutting down the roster for the next game somehow makes Ultimate inherently better is just not true. Do you really think we’re just going to receive an updated version of Ultimate each generation? It can’t go on forever.
I wonder if Sakurai was working on Smash & Kirby (which finished by now) at the same time. There’s no way Nintendo would let a few years go by without a new Smash. It’s a certified system seller.
And no, a deluxe version of Ultimate would not count, nor would the competitive community want it. No one wants the same artstyle, meta, movesets, etc. for another 8 years.
I’m glad these games are playable at 60fps, but I betcha the next 3D Zelda will be 30fps as is tradition. Years later, the Switch 3 will bump it up to 60fps, and the cycle will repeat.
@ParrakerriRush I’m surprised no one else is mentioning this. It is overpowered, and will be hard for new players to keep up if they keep getting their butts kicked in ranked. The best way to make it fair would have been to make it not cost anything to re-stat your mon, that way you can play around with different kinds of builds. But not having pokemon from Home AND having to use a points system to make your mons viable? Good luck getting the casuals to enjoy this.
@axelhander Switch 2 has DLSS, and Steam Deck doesn't. Those are facts.
You, however, made incorrect statements about FSR. First off, FSR utilizes the GPU, not CPU (processor). Secondly, FSR is not built-in to the Steam Deck or any other machine, it’s built into game engines that most modern hardware can run, including the Switch 2. AMD created it, but it’s not exclusive to their line of GPUs. Hope this helps.
The biggest difference in image quality that Switch 2 has is DLSS capability. If Nintendo actually uses it for their games like the next Zelda, we could be in for a treat. But they have to use it in order to benefit. Don’t be stubborn, Nintendo. USE IT!
If Nintendo wanted Kate Higgins gone, they wouldn’t have let her do Mario Kart World. We learned that Bananza was a Switch 1 game just like World, so they could have easily got Jenny to voice adult Pauline in World.
The wording of the article makes it sound like Jenny is replacing Kate, which may not be the case.
…But it does make you wonder why they didn’t just let Kate voice the kid version. It’s not like she can’t pull off a younger voice.
Does anyone else notice that Pauline’s voice has some kind of dream-like filter applied to it? It sounds like she’s speaking through a stage microphone at all times.
Bananza currently has a 91 metacritic score. Not as high as Odyssey’s 97, but this is great for Nintendo’s first 3D DK. I don’t count 64 since Rare handled that one.
@VoidofLight From what I recall, blonde Link didn’t have enough contrast with his environments, so they chose pink. That makes it intentional. We know it was supposed to be blonde, but that doesn’t make pink a mistake or error. It’s a design choice. I think you’re misunderstanding what everyone is trying to tell you.
@N00BiSH Haha I see. I do think Nintendo will re-release the game again at some point though.
Actually, scratch that. We already have Mario 64 and will soon have Sunshine through NSO. Nintendo could do a Galaxy 1 + 2 120fps/4K60 remaster for Switch 2.
He doesn’t have to wait till release date to update the title. Plenty of reviewers already have the copy, and Nintendo is not gonna brick their system for updating to a patch that they purposefully uploaded ahead of time.
This statement comes across as performative. There’s no way they’re not aware of other sites. A middle schooler could find them.
Georgia FBI are simply picking and choosing their battles, same as Nintendo. Nintendo took down Yuzu and Ryujinx, yet left Cemu and Citra alone while the Wii U and 3DS were still on the market. They never went after Dolphin either, they only prevented Valve from allowing its release on Steam. I think Nintendo is scared to take the wrong case to court, potentially giving emulation even more legal ground if it doesn’t go their way. So they know when to stay quiet and tolerant.
@NorrinRadd Way to prove my point about gatekeeping. This attitude screams “***** the poor”. Never did I say anyone is entitled to gaming, just that everyone should experience it. However they go about it is their business, not yours.
If you allow rules to always tell you what you cannot/should not do, then less power to you, literally.
Gatekeeping gaming from people who can’t afford it is not cool. I don’t care if I paid around $1000 for my Switch library, while others paid $0 and have access to the same titles and more. I did it because I could afford to, but everyone should get to experience gaming, especially those going through a rough time.
I can tell lots of people here are upset having paid for their games while others didn’t. It means they could have saved all that money if they followed after the pirates, and instead of being secure in their purchase-making, they feel a strong hatred towards a group that doesn’t affect them in any way.
…What? They’re hurting Nintendo? If they weren’t planning to buy a game, then a sale wouldn’t happen regardless, meaning Nintendo didn’t lose any money. Queue the “leave the billion-dollar corporation alone” guy with nunchucks meme.
@RupeeClock “ As developers start taking more advantage of the hardware, we'll see more games capped at 30 FPS and sub-native resolutions on Switch 2.”
Certain games like 3D Mario and Splatoon will always be made with 60fps in mind. But the next Zelda, Fire Emblem, or Paper Mario? I could see the devs prioritizing graphics over framerate. I’m not worried about resolution because DLSS can help there, if Nintendo’s willing to use it, which they should for their “slower” games.
Games are games. I used to be one of those people who called Nintendo games “art” because they held a special place in my heart. They still hold a place, but that doesn’t make them art.
I played chapters 3+4, and let me just say that I miss the simplicity of Undertale. I enjoyed the first chapter of Deltarune, and was excited to see where it could go, but I don’t like its direction anymore.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the next 3D Mario has barely entered full production.
The Zelda team still took 6 years to come out with a BOTW sequel, despite using the same engine, graphics, and Hyrule. BOTW, the game made from scratch, took 6 years to develop (even less if you factor in the forced delay for Switch launch). At this rate, we won’t see a new Zelda until 2029.
