No pro controller support is really lame. Devs, take a little time for that extra layer of polish — supporting another controller is really not too much to ask.
Aww no! I had a pretty good rank on there for a while. I know there wasn't a whole ton of people pulling up those levels and trying them, but it was a good resource while it lasted.
Thank you for taking this issue seriously. The text in Xenoblade is inexcusably small and I was really disappointed to see a long-standing issue that you find in games on other platforms come into the Nintendo sphere.
I'm sort of beside myself — he played my level! Yes, I'm the Canadian Justin that @ThomasBW84 hoped was watching. Like an idiot, I wasn't — I had a super busy weekend and week and thought I'd wait for a translation to watch the broadcast. Still really happy about this, it's just crazy that Arino played my level!
@Handy_Man You used to be able to submit them here — https://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/amaj/arinoplay/index.html — but they stopped taking levels a couple of weeks ago. I submitted a few but I made a GameCenter CX-themed level since then and didn't submit it, bit of an idiot moment there on my part.
If anyone wants more Canadian levels, I have mine all here on NintendoLife! I'm, rather improbably, just outside the site's top 10. I think they're pretty good!
But I will say the review is (partly) wrong in saying this is only for those who played the game back when looking for a nostalgia trip. This game is so out there, so full of charm and good ideas and horrible execution, that some people might be interested in it as a curiosity. After all, the game hasn't aged poorly — it was always borderline unplayable.
I think 5/10 is too harsh for a game that does what it sets out to do very well. In no way is it acceptable that this shipped without online friends matching and a little, tiny bit more content would be welcome, but I'm fine with Nintendo not padding this out with filler no one really wants. It's great to jump in for some online tennis or have some friends over.
With that said, again, it really needs online friend matching and shouldn't have launched at full price.
Anyone on the fence should at least watch the trailer on the eShop because it's pretty entertaining. It might not make you buy the game but it at least got a laugh out of me!
This might be something I pick up either on sale or when things die down a bit around the holidays. Looks fun.
The Direct itself was fine but it was really 3DS heavy. Some of the stuff like DQ7 and 8 and Pokemon VC were cool enough, but Cloud in Smash and Twilight Princess HD are just gross, totally pandering. The whole Direct was a lot of Nintendo going after low-hanging fruit and little actual new games. The rest of the industry is doing this, I don't need it from Nintendo!
Amazing Spider-Man 2 had its issues for sure but there was a really fun game under all that. Web-slinging through Manhattan was great. Wish these guys got a bigger budget and a little more time in the oven to bake a Spider-Man game and we'd be sitting pretty.
Really fun game! Solid review, I'd maybe rate it a touch higher. If you've got an amateur interest in programming or love logic puzzles you should definitely give it a look. It's not long but if you want to do all the optional stuff, that would take some time unless you're a total math/puzzle whiz.
Human Resource Machine is a lot of fun. I loved Octodad on Steam, definitely a lot of fun if you think you'd get a laugh out of the ridiculous controls.
Ahh, I actually did World 4-3 myself as sort of a prototype of a full remake with some other people, things went off the rails so someone else seized the day here, power to him. It's a lot of thankless work to do stuff like this so good on him.
I would buy this for sure if it were on disc but I'm much less interested without the physical media. I could download it just to try but at 15 GB I'd have to clean out just about my entire Wii U to play it. This is the wrong game to start the whole online-only thing with.
Octodad isn't super long but I had fun with it on PC. Might double dip, maybe, if the price is right and there's something compelling about the Wii U version.
If they're going to nerf anything it should be bubbler, not kraken. Bubblers are so lame, they're basically I Win buttons, or at the very least they take away all interactivity.

Re: Ninterview: Ste Pickford On The Ever-Expanding World Of Plok
I came here wanting Plok on the Virtual Console and now I leave remembering how much I want Wetrix on the Virtual Console instead.
Someone just get this done!
Re: Super Mario Maker Is Coming To 3DS
What's with this Wii U hating circle jerk? I thought this place was better than that, but I was clearly wrong.
Enjoy your gimped 3DS port, I guess.

Re: Nintendo Download: 18th August (North America)
Gee whiz, I backed Armikrog for HOW MUCH and now it's selling for $9?
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (North America)
Tadpole Treble is definitely worth playing.
Re: Exclusive: RIVE Delayed for Wii U and Could Switch to NX, Two Tribes Tells Us Why
Well this is just embarrassing.
Re: A Duo Of TurboGrafx-16 Games Hit The Wii U Virtual Console In North America This Week
Is this ever getting updated to add Bonk?
Re: Review: 153 Hand Video Poker (Wii U eShop)
So I guess you just won't give out a 0/10, hunh?
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th May (North America)
I definitely, hugely recommend Super Meat Boy, but given how cheap it's gone in Steam sales, it's hard for me to seriously consider it at this price.
Re: Nintendo Download: 7th April (North America)
$6.99 doesn't get you any coins in Canada...
Re: Interview: Solving the Puzzle of PixlCross on Wii U
This feature got me really interested in the game, but $8 in Canada puts it outside of impulse-buy territory for me. Maybe I'll get it, maybe not.
Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
"Popular" according to whom?
Re: Review: Front Mission (SNES)
For a second I thought this wasn't about piracy, but that this was somehow actually sold in English.
Stupid me!
Re: Review: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty (Wii U eShop)
Ugh. Brutal port.
Re: Review: Level 22 (Wii U eShop)
Maybe I'll look it up if it gets a patch. Disappointed to hear about the lack of effort.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans to Localise Mother 3 This Year
Emily Rogers flipped out and shut down her Twitter account over this so, yeah.
Sort of tired of seeing people use her name like she's this hotshot professional, frankly...
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (North America)
@justinr Complaining on NintendoLife won't make the game appear on 3DS. The Wii U is a good system. Give it up already.

Re: Review: Bigley's Revenge (Wii U eShop)
Gross.
Re: Rumour: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth May Be Coming to Wii U After All
Cool. I'll buy it. I put an unbelievable amount of time into the regular Wii U version.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th December (North America)
Probably getting nothing but I might double dip on Thomas Was Alone for $2. We'll see how I'm feeling next week.

I adore this game. This review, however, is fair.

Re: Review: Konami Krazy Racers (Wii U eShop / GBA)
Worth it for Goemon (and Ebisu) alone but a pretty solid game otherwise too.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (North America)
I can't believe we'd get the GBA Ghouls and Ghosts as the Virtual Console game, huge disappointment.
A lot of retail stuff but not much by way of indies. I'll hold off this week.

Re: BeautiFun Games' Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is a Tribute to the '80s, and Could Come to Wii U
With the Canadian dollar so low I'm just not funding stuff on Kickstarter anymore. It's way too expensive.

Hunh.

I'm sort of surprised NintendoLife is happy to just accept this when it flies in the face of everything they've said for years up to this point.
