Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is leaving no stone unturned in its DLC offerings; in addition to fun SEGA-themed freebies there are paid tie-ins with the likes of Hello Kitty and, erm, Monster Rancher. There are various SEGA-related paid bundles, too, and one of those has been shown off in a shiny new trailer (above).
This bundle will cost $4.99USD and includes the Game Gear, Saturn and Dreamcast, so there are a couple of great systems there. The lack of a Genesis / Mega Drive is a tad baffling, but never mind.
It's also worth noting that if you pay a bit more for the Digital Deluxe Edition this pack is included.
Consoles rolling around in balls may not have quite the charisma and charm of some other characters, but the nostalgia will certainly be strong.
Are you planning to bring the Dreamcast back to glory in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania?

I don't feel the need to spend $5 on inanimate 3D models.
Didn't we already know about this since shortly after the game was announced?
@KayFiOS Yes, but today they released actual footage
Probably not going to bother with this. It's funny for a bit but not worth paying this price for. Which seems to be a trend for this game.
Also this game is curing me from wanting my games complete with all DLC so that's a plus. lol
why are they announcing DLC before the game launches? This should just be included...
I think the consoles would look better spinning in the ball.
Dreamcast oooooohhhh yes please
Yeah they could have given them little arms and legs or something? As just a non-animated model, and not even any banana swaps (couldn't they have had them collect the discs/carts that each system used?), these feel like they should be part of the main game.
I'll be grabbing this one because they come with the deluxe edition. (Shame they couldn't give them victory animations.../s)
I said it before but when I visited Japan in the 00s, they had mini SEGA console keychains in gatcha machines dotted around Tokyo. This just reminds me so much of that trip. xx
We are living in strange times indeed.
Wow these look awful
For real money?! 😱
Ok.... How much of y'all have hope that this game is not broken and poorly done just like colors?
I agree that they need to be spinning in the ball or something. This looks janky.
@ItsJustAnotherGamer yeah what next? A foot inside a plastic ball? People will buy any random crap these days 🙄🙄
@huyi
Hey, don’t call it random crap. I’ve been praying that they add a foot inside a plastic ball. It’s one of my most anticipated characters, second only to two feet inside a plastic ball.
But yeah, if the character pack was much larger, I’d consider it, but Sega consoles don’t spark nostalgia for me.
Ummm, Exciting..?
these would be cool if they were free. but $5? LOL
I'm hoping for Sanic Hegehog
Reminds me of how in PSO you could get MAGs (little companion robots) that looked like Sega consoles.
If I do pick it up don't think I'll waste any money on the dlc. The game seems packed with content right off the bat.
I think this is getting out of hand...
Unironically worth every penny, if not more.
@andykara2003 I agree. I’m honestly really confused that their stationary. Every other character I’ve seen moves in the ball.
They couldn't fit the three power bricks for the "Tower of Power" in the ball.
It would be fun to play as the Dreamcast but I’m not sure at that price.
So boring especially when you compare to the Dreamcast in All Stars Racing Transformed, this game continues to be bloated with enough DLC MTX to be a F2P game.
Kind of a weird money grab charging for this. I prefer DLC to be some type of gameplay expansion or at the very least, have the abilitu to grind for a unique item
They could have at least animated them. They don't even roll over when they get a lot of speed
I kind of appreciate the lack of SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive when the other consoles can have representation, but not for that cost. There's no reason this couldn't be in the base game.
@RupeeClock For as much as current Sega like acknowledging the existence of their old consoles, besides the Genesis/Megadrive, it baffles me why they haven't even released a Sega Saturn or Dreamcast collection of games yet like how they always releases their Genesis game compilations?
Or why not sell them individually?
@RupeeClock Yeah. Doesn't affect affect gameplay in any way.
And besides. It's weird with a console inside the ball.
@Benjinat no phun intended LOL
I can't believe I'm getting excited for a SMB game since they GC game, over some avatars. Indeed. Also, I wonder why they're not going the extra mile to use the American Saturn console. Not that I'm complaining, just genuinely curious.
Aw come on guys. I think it's actually really funny.
Am I sensing some subtle shade thrown towards the Game Gear in this article?
The complete lack of any movement is odd.
It would have been cool if these packs also gave you a set of music. Like some Yakuza tracks when playing as Kiryu, or in the cases of these "characters" some songs from assorted Game Gear, Saturn and Dreamcast games.
I would be way more excited for this game if these were all unlockable after completing certain levels or challenges or even finding them scattered across hard to reach areas of each level.
Master System?
@russell-marlow I think it's because both the Saturn and Dreamcast are harder to emulate than other consoles of the same generation. Keep in mind that the Saturn used squares for it's polygons compared to triangles. That being said, the size could also be a factor. Some multi-disk games can be as big as some modern games and that's just the ROM! I think another factor is with they handle emulating the disk speed reading of the virtual CD-ROMs. Do they keep the speed and same and be slow to load or speed it up and break parts of a game?
@NatiaAdamo Why doesn't Sega just use emulators?
They've been blue-balling fans of their 3D games for a while now and keep asking them if they would like if those games were brought back in classics compilation or something similar.
What about 32X or Sega CD games, there are plenty of classics there just waiting to be re-released, yet nothing gets greenlit.
They should have been animated, like in Wii Fit how the Balance Board would jump up use it's corners as arms, etc. In real life it's just a board, but in video games you can animate things like that in a fun way. Also would have been nice if each character pack came with a set of levels based on the characters.
I'd rather spend the $5 to play as Morgana.
