Re: Hardware Review: Hori D-Pad Joy-Con Controller For Nintendo Switch

Jawessome

I got one of these as I play exclusively in handheld mode and love my 2D platformers and fighting games and something is up with Streetfighter 30th Anniversary.

It was easier to pull off special moves with the Hori but I still found it challenging to throw out one on command each time I wanted to. Something wasn’t quite right.

I then fired up Garou: Mark of the Wolves and the Hori pad was a sheer delight. I could play the game as intended again!

EVERY special move every time I wanted to throw one out. Perfection.

I’ll tinker with the speed settings in SF30th - I’m hoping its something to do with that as the pad works flawlessly with Garou.

Re: Motion Twin Apologises For Frame Rate Drops In Switch Version Of Dead Cells

Jawessome

@Rika_Yoshitake oh please. The game is hardly broken. This is hardly a WWE 2K debacle! ‘Scum bag’ is a little bit harsh a term for a drop in a few FPS don’t you think? The devs have addressed the issue when they could have ignored it and done nothing.

Ive been playing since yesterday and have noticed nothing that affects gameplay.

The game is nothing but an engrossong masterpiece. Simply outstanding and needs to be in everyone’s library now.

Re: Review: MotoGP 18 (Switch)

I just had a look at some video before I contemplated buying this game and un-docked visuals look a slight a cut above the PSP version. Look at Panic Button's amazing ports vs this utter mess.

GRiD on iOS can pull it off, I have no idea how the Switch can't run this with competent visuals in handheld mode..

Re: The US Trader Who Bet $400 Million Against Nintendo Takes Huge Hit As Stock Price Soars

@Heavyarms55 greed is sadly inbuilt into human nature and what you are seeing are people who have unparalleled access to exercise their greed.

I think it will be greed that brings about the extinction of the human race. We're already poisoning ourselves because companies want to use cheap additives in consumer products to stretch the dollar. There is no regulation.

I read that 41 Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer each day. Each. Day. Where have we gone wrong that we are damaging our very genetics that cause a cancer to grow?

Take the farmer that has their strawberry farm on the side of a busy road. Try and rub your finger along the side of a car wheel and see what is ending up in the food they sell in stores. Brake, tyre and exhaust dusts too fine to see which have absolutely no positive effect on human biology.

Cheap clothing made in china containing carcinogenic dyes that ends up everywhere thanks to the wonders of online shopping. Target stores here had a recall. How many were sold and worn and still are worn before that happened though?

Meats cured with sodium nitrates as a preservative that is a known cancer causing agent. The stuff is used in rocket fuel and fertilisers for crying out loud and they're selling it on a plate to us?

I could go on and on but these are just some examples.

All because the people who are meant to be regulating and looking out for our (and collectively; their) health are too busy trying to make a buck themselves to properly REGULATE.

It wont be a meteor or a virus - our GREED is going to be the cause of this race's demise.

Re: Todd Howard Says Bethesda Will “Certainly Be Doing Things" With Switch In The Future

Jawessome

@Allspice yeah it’s certainly disappointing. The numbers cant all be that impressive to Bethesda otherwise you bet your ass they’d be clamouring to release more titles on Switch. Its just greed.... ahhh ‘business sense’.

A darn shame. I really hoped they’d have kept the momentum rolling and was expecting a big announcement at E3. Its up to Nintendo to put that sort of pressure on them now I suppose.

Re: WWE 2K19 Might Be Skipping Nintendo Switch

Jawessome

@tourjeff you mean the same 2K who released Bioshock on iOS but didn't patch it to support the next operating system update making the game unplayable a few short months after people bought it?

Or do you mean the same 2K who are aggressively pursuing micro transactions by making create a player modes a grind fest on purpose in their sports games with each year getting progressively worse?

I'm not surprised they pulled this stunt on Switch owners in the least. Once bitten is all I can say.

2K much like EA and Rockstar started from humble beginnings, became insanely successful but sold out to absolute greed and lost their integrity along the way.

Re: Panic Button "Very In Demand" After Successful Switch Ports, Working On Several Projects

Jawessome

@Varkster sometimes its cheaper to outsource than to commit sections of your studio to porting previous projects. This way, you are most certainly guaranteed a large slice of the profits from the port along with continuing to work on new projects.

Add to that a proven studio like Panic Button, you are most certainly assured your port will be handled with care and come out swinging. Perfect examples are, well; each of their Switch ports so far.

It certainly makes sense in that regard.

Re: NBA Playgrounds 2 Will Miss Its 22nd May Launch Date, Dev Promises "Exciting Things"

Jawessome

@tourjeff fun? Compred to NBA Jam, Playgrounds is sadistic with how utterly abused the energy system is by the AI.

You try and steal a few times and you’re depleted. The AI can attempt to do so as much as they please.

Oh and whoever came up with the idea of the commentators busting down the player needs to be drawn and quartered.

It makes for a totally and utterly infuriating experience.

I recently fired up NBA Jam OFE on the PS3 and was instantly reminded of how much fun an arcade basketball game can be.

Re: Review: Sky Rogue (Switch eShop)

Jawessome

Loving the hell out of this. Brings back fond memories of THX. Been hit by the loading screen freeze a few more times than I'd like despite patching which kills the quick play rogue like nature for me.

I really hope they fix it.

Re: NBA Playgrounds 2 Will Take To The Court On Switch In 2018

Jawessome

Being a massive fan of NBA Jam in addition to the remake that came out on Wii / PS3 / 360 / iOS et al, Playgrounds isn't even close.

It seems to be more of a sim wrapped in an arcade package which makes it deceptively frustrating. Jam is a fun, pure arcade experience where you can really let your hair down. Playgrounds make me shut the game off in anger.

They went a long way with implementing a visual timer on the screen etc, but the tournament modes really get frustrating.

The CPU all of a sudden become godlike and the degrading commentary about how bad you are playing just pisses me off even more.

No thanks.

I really wish they would port On Fire Edition of JAM to current consoles. It's really a no brainer.

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

Jawessome

At the end of the day there will always be people who don't want to be locked behind the will of a company. I'm not talking in terms of piracy, I'm talking when it comes to creativity.

People like to tinker and create and if you have the know how, it's a challenge to see what you can do with a piece of hardware that is essentially locked down.

Personally, I've used jailbreaks in the past, but this was NOT to bypass the monetary reward that is the right of hard working developers.

On the Wii for example, I am able to play No More Heroes 2 on my PAL system using home brew. NMH 2 was never released in PAL so it's a great benefit.

On the iPhone, I was able to use features that weren't implemented into iOS yet like being able to switch Wifi and Bluetooth on and off from the main screen, etc.

So long as home brew doesn't revolve around hacking brand new games and taking food from the mouths of the countless amount of people involved in making them, I'm all for it.

Some people curse emulation but its a fantastic way to preserve and enjoy decades old games - some that weren't even available in my country for example.

It's also great to see people like this come forward and offer advice to Nintendo from an outside perspective. If he / she was an evil criminal intent on plundering the coffers of developers, do you honestly think they would be coming forward publicly with this information?
