I must say, playing the game on my Switch today was a real treat. A few hours in and got to fly off to my first planet. What's better than relaxed mode is the custom difficulty mode which means you can tweak entirely individual aspects of the game's difficulty. I kept everything on default except the environmental suit damage exposure stuff I wasn't personally much of a fan of as it added a grind to the grind All gone so I can enjoy things at my own pace.
Another port victory for the Switch and an endeavor Hello Games should be truly proud of.
@benmalsky198 there’s a difference between enjoying a game and holding a company to account especially if the same company intentionally removed all previous digital copies of said games included in the collection to force people to buy this one.
Accepting this lazy, broken port for anything less than what it is simply lowers the bar and tells Sega it’s okay to deliver subpar content. We all deserve better - especially gamers that are new to this era.
@benmalsky198 small details? Christ man, Sega butchered this release and rubbed salt into the wound by delisting far superior versions first. There are countless videos online and a very in-depth post about the multitude of issues in this very thread. Either take your head out of the sand, or work on your PR spin work for Sega my dude.
Gavin Lane - it may sound odd but steaming up the bathroom with a hot shower first gets rid of airborne dust particles. Once the air clears out, use it as your base of ops to install your protector. Works a charm for me!
I get Sonic is a big deal to many but I’m not sure a genre change like this will do the character favours. The ‘combat’ looks button spam mediocre and Sonic feels completely out of place in this setting. What’s with the music? I realise it’s a trailer but can someone tell Sega this isn’t Final Fantasy?
We lose a Mania sequel to this? Seriously? I hope I’m wrong but yeah - not vibing with this at all.
The Anniversary Collection has no less than 21 version of all the Wonderboy games across tons of consoles. A physical limited run stinks of FOMO gatekeeping here.
The whole pay full price and ‘wait there’s more!’ with the DLC schtick has totally put me off to be honest. I’ll stick with the OG Lego Star Wars that didn’t include the Disney garbage me thinks.
There was a sequel on the NGPC which sadly only released in Japan. There are english translations which can be played on original hardware using flash carts. Stay away from the DS ‘sequel’. It uses a whole new system which makes the game painful to play.
This is a definitive release. Let’s hope Code Mystics release the sequel in english for everyone which would be just stellar.
I was really chomping at the bit to get this but unfortunately the initial review didn't seem like the game set the world on fire. Still sitting on the fence with this one.
@The_Pixel_King ah yes! - Food4Dogs. I remember her from the Vita days. Very nice up until the point you disagree with her opinion regardless of the manners you use..
It’s no secret that the Switch entered the fray without any direct competition and unlike the Vita which was over-promoted as a handheld that brought home console titles into the palm of your hand, the Switch is competent enough to make that claim quite comfortably. Take Borderlands 2 and compare how it runs on both machines for example.
Now we have the likes of Steamdeck on the way, you can bet your bottom dollar Nintendo is working away on their next console but like anything, it needs time and while the marketshare is still pulling in those dollars with Switch, they won’t be hasty and give anything away to cannibalise potential sales.
Sega pulled such a stunt with the 32X with Saturn around the corner and it seriously hurt them.
I just wonder what Nintendo will aim to do next. They are clearly innovators that rely on novel ideas to create their own market niche and it seems they won’t have the luxury of continued dominance in the handheld space for that much longer.
The lack of quality on display here is very disappointing coming from Ninty. The price wouldn’t be so much of a slap if the emulation wasn’t so utterly appalling.
I don’t want to rent a ***** emulator for the current asking price. It’s not their first day - they know consumer products and people demand quality for what they pay. It’s that simple.
The biggest question I've not heard answered - is the new dock still as screen unfriendly as it was in the original Switch?
In the end, I resorted to putting glad wrap around the front of the screen before docking as I got a nasty scratch (on the outside of the screen area but still crappy nonetheless) on my launch model.
Hopefully tempered glass protectors appear shortly for those as anal about their gadgets as I am.
For a company like Nintendo that prides itself on making the most out of older technology, this move is very un-Nintendolike indeed if the rumour is true.
Take Goldeneye for example - the reason we never saw the original title released was because it would have cost an absolute fortune to acquire the rights to do so from all the stakeholders. So why overspend on licensing to ultimately pass that on to the consumer?
Will we see Saturn? Dreamcast? If so, cut the slowburn crap and announce it. Because for now, its the same rehashed Sega library which makes the whole endeavour very discouraging.
I for one hope Nintendo have enough humility to come out and adjust the price out of good faith. It would go a long way to restoring consumer confidence in the big N.
As if putting down money for stuff you will never own is bad enough, it’s like choosing to rent a house over buying and owning one.
Online streamers retain success because of the cheaper subscription rate in addition to the amount of content you get for that price.
The cost of admission here is simply far too high for the absolutely meagre selection of titles included. Add to that the crazy money Nintendo are asking for their wireless controllers and the whole thing just isn’t affordable. At all.
I’m a handheld player all the way but my hacked V1 will remain my daily driver thanks. The Steamdeck really took the wind out of the OLED’s sails I must say. Especially the price point for the few enhancements which aren’t really justified in my opinion.
The screen is gorgeous, but yeah. A friendlier price would make the upgraded screen far more appetising.
TCG Online is a lot of fun because you can play without spending a single cent. In fact there are zero IAP’s. I would say this has everything to do with the game shutting down. A real shame but I knew it was only a matter of time before it became touched by greed.
I hate to say it, but compared to the NES set which is absolutely epic, the minimalist character designs here are a little simple when you look at the price of admission here.
I’m really not sure why you’d expect a remake of one of the earliest platformers to be the second coming of Alex Kidd. I have played a good few hours and calling it a disappointment is a bit of a stretch. I’m quite enjoying it. The original wasn’t easy by any means so why should this one be a walk in the park?
In this day and age, this is pure laziness by Nintendo. Drip feeding decades old titles from just two systems? What are you waiting for guys, seriously?
Its a very exciting time for fans of the ‘golden era’ of fighting games. Im grateful to everyone involved in bringing these titles to the Switch. I have an NGPC and adore it and have absolutely no problem throwing money down to show my gratitude.
It would be a dream to see CvSNK MF and CvS 2 on modern hardware.
Preordered. Locked and loaded. Just one more day left. Love the novels and will be so much fun to take the fight to the tinnies on a handheld. Cant wait to hear Vode An coming from my Switch! Oya!
You’d think CDPR walked into your house and set it on fire with how people are up in arms about Cyberpunk. It’s not like they took people’s life fortunes. It was a videogame FFS. Refunds were offered. It won’t be the last time a game comes out that does not align with expectations.
No company deserves to be digitally ransacked and subsequently extorted. I really hope these persons are found and put in a cage. I feel for them and am disgusted at how utterly self righteous people are behaving like shareholders because they paid $100 or so for a videogame ..
Ahhhhh can’t wait! Loved the originals. Sadly giving the series to people who lacked the reverence did not pay off until Favreau and Filoni steered things back on track. That said, I did enjoy Rogue One. The rest felt like well funded fanfics to me.

After such a long time people expect more and rightfully so.
