Following on from the announcement The Binding of Isaac: Repentance would be coming to multiple platforms, it's now been confirmed the game will be released in North America this week on 4th November.
Repentance is described as the "ultimate entry" in the series - taking the Binding of Isaac to new heights with new and updated content such as new items, playable characters, bosses, and new challenges. You can learn more in our previous post.
For existing players, Repentance will be available as $19.99 DLC (or your regional equivalent). As a reminder, there'll also be a physical version available, sold exclusively from the publisher's online store.

Thanks for the dlc mention as I wasn’t sure when this was first announced! Def pickin this up as dlc, as my hours in Isaac are only rivaled by MH, Diablo, and Zelda games….
Man, how many times has this game gotten another 'Ultimate' release? Feels like the fiftieth version!
This is a great game.....It's also a really, really difficult game to explain to your friends who don't play games.
I own it on Xbox but I am really tempted to shell out the $60 on Switch to play it handheld. This game was meant to be played while on the toilet in my humble opinion.
I've been anticipating this for ages. Can't freakin' wait.
@FleetBaron I’ve triple dipped on Isaac - PS4/3DS/Switch. The switch version is by far my favorite and most hours spent.
Oh wow, that's a surprise. All the updates I'd heard to this point have made it seem like the Switch version was still going to be ages away. I've got 1,000+ hours in Isaac on Switch but it's been forever since I've played so I'm actually pretty excited to get back into it now. I have a physical version of Afterbirth+ but the cartridge barely works any more after being inserted in and out so many times so thinking I might just buy the full game digitally this time for the convenience.
@Dm9982 WiiU, Steam and Switch for me.
@BenAV hahaha, glad I’m not the only one who’s thought of getting digital on top of physical just for convenience on this game. Games like MH, Diablo, or Isaac, I typically get digital just because I know I’ll always want to play it at some point. I got Isaac physical though cause that package was so sweet - the manual looks just like the NES Zelda manual, how was I gonna pass that up?!
@faint if I still had a gaming rig, I’d totally get it a fourth time on Steam…. Probably one of the 5-10 series I say is worth multiple dips… up there with Res Evil 4, Zelda OoT, Witcher 3…
@BenAV +1000 hours in Isaac? I like you.
On-topic: YES finally!!
I'll get it if it cross saves with PC or PS5 (since Sony has basically dipped out of handhelds).
Quadruple dipped on Isaac though. PC, PS4, 3DS and PS Vita
hoping and praying it doesn't make unlocking whatever I have left much harder...meaning I hope it hasn't patched how easy Jera is to abuse
Happy birthday to me!
@Dm9982 Early Switch days I always just bought physical where possible but in the last year or two I've started to go the same way as you. Any single player story game I'll still buy physically but anything with a multiplayer focus or anything that's endlessly replayable like a roguelite or rhythm game that I might play on the side it's nice not having to swap out the cartridge for.
I was on the fence about this as another stand-alone release, but indeed, it's worth picking up as a DLC.
I need to test this on my 2nd tv as it’s currently got weird ghosting on my 4K tv and it makes me a bit sad. It also use to do weird things with the rgb profile. Just this one game! Got to admit I’ve not been that bothered since I started with Hades.
@thiz buddy that's been me about metroid my entire life! (joking, joking)
Isaac is the best roguelike of all time and one of my favorite games of all time aswell. This is a must buy for anyone. I have over 2000 hours in Repentance on Steam and 800 hours on AB+ switch. I 5th dipped on all platforms possible just to play isaac. And my whole channel is dedicated to isaac. I love isaac to death.
I love this game bought it on a whim, never heard of it, but am addicted to it. Give myself 2 days of it after completing a game before the next one.
I wanted the physical of Repentance but $58 delivery to me is almost more than the game costs, hoping it will turn up on Amazon UK so I don't have to pay that stupid amount.
I migrated to playing this on PC when Repentance released on that so I don't see that much point in getting the expansion on Switch anymore but the game itself is still an absolute masterpiece and the DLC just adds so much more variety and stuff to see and experience in a game that was already jam packed. I think at this point I can pretty safely say that Binding of Isaac has ended up becoming one of my favorite games of all time.
@FleetBaron I would love to get this on switch, but personally I can't stand the idea to start over from scratch while I have a 100% save file on PS5 ready to play the new expansion.
Might still get it in the future if prices don't get absurd, like other physical indie releases...
I feel guilty for being ready to buy the game because it's still giving money to Nicalis...
How much can you resell the same game?
Fell in love with Rebirth on 3DS, Afterbirth+ on Switch and I decided to get Repentance on PC. At least I'll never need to buy a new system.
I thought the devs already broke ties with Nicalis?
@Zyph
Edmund dictanced himself, and thent Tyrone apologized and clerared things out. They're better now if I understood correctly.
As for Nicalis, Repentance had been signed with them before the "***** storm".
I'm waiting to buy Binding of Isaac Super Duper Ultra Amazing Ultimate edition.
@Tibob Huh. Wasn't aware they worked things out in the end. Hopefully the employees found something to be happy about as well.
Still, the fact remains that their priorities is still pretty crappy, considering 90's Arcade Racer is still radio silence for over 6 years now.
@Zyph
I've been waiting for 90's Arcade Racer as well, I have no idea why it's "stuck".
@FleetBaron This is a superb handheld. Do it.
@Dm9982 Yeah I really dig the little manual too, adore my physical copy <3
I've sunk about 600 hours on Binding of Isaac on the Switch, another 200 on Steam. This is such a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting it but the week just got so much more legit.
1000+ hours on PS4 and already up to 850+ on the Switch as of last night.. put 7hrs in yesterday alone.. Switch version is the best imo.. definitely day one.. been impatiently waiting for YEARS for this!!
No update in the UK, yet?
(edit: oh wait, I got confused and thought this said it was already out in NA. I've seen online there's supposed to be a patch for the current game available, but I'm not seeing it)
@Onett I hope it runs well too.. AB+ runs phenomenally well on Switch.. PLZ BE JUST AS SMOOTH crosses fingers
I was thinking of coming back to this, the dlc might just be the excuse I need.
Finally! My most anticipated after HK Silksong
Finally.
: ) been waiting for this.
Finally Isaac 4ever !
@sonicbooming your profile pic of Monstro is just 10/10
@Friscobay hell yeah! Best roguelike and game of all time ❤️
@Onett i bet the switch version can handle all those cool effects that are on PC just as easy. It's an indie game after all and plenty of reflection shaders work on Switch.
@WolfyTn you're almost at my 2000 hours for isaac pc, nice job
@Pat_trick Repentance is exactly that.
@Expa0 bro, being able to play Repentance on the go is worth it. You can not play Rep natively on the go anywhere except on Switch. And maybe with some cloud streaming shenanigans on Xbox.
Since I have waited for this edition, I'm sure to pick it up. I've sunk so many hours into this game on PS4, I'm ready for more on my Switch! When is the European release, though?
Boisssss, happy days
I tried playing Isaac when it was on Vita. Found it too hard for me, and then had to start from scratch each time. Games like Rogue Legacy are better because they let you keep some progress/experience each time you die. By the way, which Isaac version is this now?
FINALLY. I've been waiting for this forever. This is exactly the kind of game I want to pick up and play anywhere and I just never feel as motivated to sit at a computer and do it.
A few times I was tempted to just get it on PC anyway even if I knew I wouldn't play it as much there, but I waited and now the wait has paid off.
@SwitchVogel is it as bad as street fighter?
I missed that this was North America only yesterday and was all excited. Now it turns out Europe will be "a few weeks"
So back to waiting...
The wait for this is killing me. Tyrone said on twitter it will be with us whenever NOE do what they need to do to get it to us.
Really hope they hurry up
@thiz rude if you don’t like it why even bother reading the article or posting a comment?
I bought the dlc from the American eshop but can't use it with my PAL region download.
I never knew dlc could be region locked.
Raging.
Edit:
It also broke my copy of the game. I can't run it or redownload it. Guess i have to try uninstalling the dlc?
How many expansions are they making for this game?!? Soon they be putting expansions in their expansions!
@Greatluigi really that's kind of what afterbirth+ was
@somebread ... I WAS JUST JOKING!!!
0_0 I didn’t know that.
WHEN FOR THE UK????!
Hope there's going to be a review for this.
I remember when this came out on steam a lot of complaints was that they overbalanced the game. Though it's had a lot of tweaks since it came out so I'm curious how it is now.
