Prior to release, apart from the new characters appearing in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, one thing in particular seemed to capture the enthusiasm of NL staff and readers alike: the Yoshi popcorn bucket that cinemas are flogging alongside the film.
Featuring Mario's trusty steed rendered as a tin receptacle, he's carrying in egg with a little door in which to stick your mitt and grab great handfuls of popped corn.
It looks great, but the moment we saw it we had questions. How will this thing stand up to buttered popcorn or anything snack dressed with more than a sprinkling of salt? Related, is this Yoshisaur Munchakoopas dishwasher-friendly? And just how big is this thing?
It was hard to get a sense of it from the press shots, and we imagined struggling to get more than one piece of popcorn at a time. Well, having just sat down to catch the movie this morning, we can confirm it's a substantial portion of dino.
Here are a few more snaps, plus one with a child's hand to give you a better sense of scale.
So rest assured that unless you're the kind of person to plough through one of those enormous 20-quid buckets yourself, sweet popcorn at the bottom and salty on top, and perhaps laced with peanut M&Ms (try before judging, okay!?), Yoshi's egg will store plenty. Enough to get you through the trailers, at least.
The movie? We'll be back with our verdict ASAP, so sit tight. In the meantime, you can check out the reaction from a bunch of major film-focused publications and critics. And let us know below if you'll be picking up one of these Yoshi's if you are getting tickets.
