Did Best Buy Leak Joker's Render For Smash Bros. Ultimate Ahead Of Schedule?

One can only imagine the plastic stand used to hold that render pose up in amiibo form.

I don't think that's a real image. When you click on the link, then the link to the fighter pass, they don't show joker on the page with details about the battle pass.

Very likely to be the official render. I doubt Best Buy randomly pulled this render from the internet. It also fits right in with existing renders and he has the right posture to fit in this frame and the roster:

I’m just surprised Nintendo has kept his render so secret from the public for so long. We’ve known about his inclusion since early December, and they revealed Piranha Plant’s render on the website as soon as they announced its inclusion. It’s not like we don’t know what Joker looks like. Why all the secrecy?

@thesilverbrick for hype I guess, it helps sales. Also they might of actually been finishing the charter over that time and it appears as if he might be done now!

Is it that big of a deal? We all know what he looks like and he's not likely to be far removed from Persona 5

@carlos82 it might mean we will get him sooner rather than later. Tomorrow is the 1st of April - Fools day. And Jokers arkana is Fool. And, well, he's Joker. We might even get him on 9th of April, since the game starts on this day!
But it's all just speculation

I am not an amiibo collector (I only have the Bayonetta and Cloud ones) but Joker will be my Third one. Also... I want that Pokemon Steelbook sooo bad.

If the devs didnt throw a ton of space in the trash for so much useless single player content..all those dumb spirits..
They could have instead layed out tons of challenges with special banners or skins for each character ..to be earned and shown off some.
Absolutely boring to play a game with the exact same characters. same. Same boring outfits and absolutely not a single piece of content to drop for month and months..
the game is soo BARREN AND EMPTY.
They need to give more cosmetic the very least, since they only added about 4 brand new characters to begin with..everything is old and dusty. Nintendo is too greedy to drop a free skin for certain.

@thesilverbrick Probably because Atlus is being very secretive about Persona 5 The Royal. An announcement of an announcement (more info in March 2019) followed by another announcement of an announcement (more info April 24th). As Nintendo didn't shadow drop Joker info at the tournament yesterday, April 24th or later seems like a reasonable prediction for Joker release date.

@Tsurii thanks for the suggestion, since i enjoyed 4. But, i also was displeased with the content. I feel so much time spent, some very impressive wins and skills shows... there should certainly be a more rewarding system.
I would like for anyone to lie and say nintendo is up to date with any other console or development plan for released games.. they have near 0 roadmaps for whats to come aside from paid dlc and they are as stingy with it as can be. 1 character and a map dude? Cmon man people really are trying too hard to turn a blind eye..but being a player of all consoles..switch and nintendo as a whole is 10 years behind.
Switch is a tablet with a plastic box to protect an hdmi wire that sends signal to a tv..
Loaded with 3 and 4 year old games and maybe 4 solid titles since release...plus day 1 uses like me have the defect default joycons which unsync on their own since day 1.

@AlienigenX lol! Same about the steel book. It's kinda lame actually, they will give it away free for anyone who buys the Let's go games, but if you already have the games (or even bought them from BB before they were offerning the deal) you have to pay $40. Kinda a rip-off.

@jtmnm If you like JRPGs, I'd say Persona is probably top tier in terms of quality and content for me personally. Honestly, you should just play those games for the music and presentation alone

I hope if there's a Smash direct in April they show us the next character. I could care less about joker.

@Grumblevolcano True, but showing the official render doesn’t mean they have to show all of the alts. They didn’t show any alts with any other character when they posted all the character renders on the official website back in June.

@thesilverbrick While true, given the secrecy of the 3.0 update as a whole in the February Direct (that segment was basically an announcement of an announcement) it seems the aim could be to show all the content at once so if any of the DLC pack is a Persona 5R spoiler they hold off until Atlus reveals those parts of Persona 5R.

Yep 10 yrs behind and killing it with the fastest selling console in history lol. Clearly it appeals, this ain’t a system to compete in the graphical arms race. If you don’t like the system then it’s not for you, simple. The ~35 million+ or so sales might beg to differ with your line of thinking though.

@BlueBlur101 They definitely have style! As a JRPG fan, I really don't have an excuse for not playing the series yet. I was planning to jump in for Persona 5 R, though!

@thesilverbrick My guess is it's because of the female protagonist from the new Persona 5 being an alt, which they had to keep secret since Atlus hadn't revealed it yet.

@jtmnm I'd say P3 has the best story, so if you ever get around to that, play FES instead of P3 Portable on the PSP, as that version uses menu style hub worlds in every area outside the Dark Hour. For Persona 4, Golden is definitely better, but honestly the PS2 version hasn't even aged that badly.

I'm interested in P5 Royal havjng completed original P5 on New Game+ recently, but the drip feed of information is pretty agonizing

I hope not all the Fighter's Pass characters that I spent money on turn out to be a conduit for advertising.

@Franklin They almost certainly will regardless of them being 1st or 3rd party. To be fair, even if they aren't an advertisement for another game they're still technically advertisements for Smash Ultimate itself

Well it's neither an "Free 2 Play" Game which needs to bait folks with an carrot to constant playing (and paying) nor an GaaS AAA Game, but an classic approach which worked for over 20 years for most Games(i mean look at melee it is still played) and i'd argue the majority of the Playerbase is happy about it. I don't say it's like i'm against additional Skins in general, but to this Point and to look at what SSBU offer it's only an "plus" and your complain is "nitpicky" than something which SSBU truly needs or to insult other people by claiming they turn an "blind eye" while they simply doesn't feel that way.

@TheLightningYu all you have to do is look at any single game in the same genre and see how much content comes witwith a dlc drop. Your answers all seemed very biased because of you being a fan..I'm 30 and own all nintendo systems that have come out until this point as of now and since they were released. But i also owned many other systems and currently do..comparison from a business to fanbase perspective, nintendo is beyond low.
This is not a game that brought tons of new content..its mostly old with tweaks dude. Please dont be so new gen you settle for games not crammed with content and call mvps( minimum viable products) great. Nintendo if you dont know, have walked out of business meetings. which in their own culture is the absolute lowest you can go business wise..to this day they are stiff. Cater nearly none to the most loyal customers, do not bend for nothing but the dollar and its awful.
Switch sold because people were interested. not impressed.
Because a high percentage do not still own or use theirs. Nintendo is a pretty lousy and super stingy company kiddo. From owning many games on many consumes its clear as day where my comments come from.
