Following the announcement of the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which will be taking place on 13th February, it has been discovered Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto retweeted this news not once, but twice. For anyone who's not familiar with his work, Hashimoto is the co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series and has also helped out on the Final Fantasy series.

The first time he acknowledged the presentation was when he retweeted a message about it from Famitsu and the second time he retweeted a Game Awards post about it. Take a look below:

Of course, this has sent fans into overdrive, with requests for Sora - the protagonist of Kingdom Hearts - to be added as a playable fighter to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and for a Kingdom Hearts game to be released on the Switch.

In 2017, Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura said his team would consider porting the latest release - Kingdom Hearts III - elsewhere to platforms such as the Switch, once the main versions had shipped on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Fast forward to 2019 and these main versions have now been released.

More recently, Square Enix has been spotted filing trademarks for a bunch of classic Final Fantasy games in Europe and North America, which has some outlets thinking the Seiken Densetsu Collection will finally be localised.

Do you think Hashimoto is promoting the upcoming Nintendo presentation for any particular reason? Tell us below.
