Hopefully they give us FFVII (the original) a release date as I never played it. Also hope that they reveal something about Bravely Third which was confirmed to be in development, but nothing more was said. And yes, it'll be great if KH3 got released in the Switch.

Probably just means release dates for FFVII and IX. VII is being featured in Switch commercials so it should be out very soon, probably right after the Direct.

I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game but always been intrigued. I can safely say if they released the first two (ideally all the crazy upgraded ones) I would buy and try both on switch.

Someone who leaked the Nintendo direct, which backs up the leakers statements who leaked when the direct was going to happen, said that we should be expecting KH 1.5-2.5 to be announced in the Direct, and KH 2.9 to also be announced, but it won't have a release date except for being set to release this year.

Probably ff7 release date or surprise release. Also like it mentions it's speculated that seiken densetsu collection will be localize for the west. I highly doubt it will be about kh coming to the switch.

Erdrick will be announced as fighter 72 in Smash Ultimate. Take it to the bank.

@Aozz101x As good for the fanservice as the KH story is, it's kind of dreadful and needlessly convoluted. There is nothing well-written about the story or characters in my opinion.

I played KH 1.5 and 2.5 and I'd say the gameplay of the series is what actually stands out, as it is quite unique and fast-paced. I haven't touched KH 3 yet as it looks like a step down for the series in every conceivable way other than being pretty to look at, no matter how many critics praise it.

That said, doubt that this announcement is gonna be anything major.

While I’d naturally be over the moon if Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 HD were to be announced for Switch in tomorrow’s Direct (I really cant see it being KH3), I’d be pretty much just as content with a Western localisation of
Seiken Densetsu Collection.

A Secret of Mana Collection announcement would be amazing. But all I keep hearing are rumors of a FFVII shadow drop in the eShop tomorrow.

I’m thinking it’s more likely a port of the HD The Story So Far collection and not KH3.

KH3 was a disappointment i beat the game and honestly dont see my self playing through it agian. As for the tweet its probably release dates for all the FF games, but id rather see a bravely default 3.

KH3 from a technical standpoint is NEVER going to happen on the switch. You can optimized the game to 720p 15 fps and still wouldn't run at all. Its contents is overloaded like RDR2.

The thought of KH3 ported is just Impossible and there shouldn't be port begging in the first place.Have some common sense pls, Its equivalent to asking for RDR2 on Switch........

It’s not gonna be the Seiken Densetsu Collection.

The third game isn’t localized, and they only trademarked the first two, both of which, coincidentally, got remakes on Vita. I bet my bottom dollar it’s those 2 remakes that are coming, not the collection. People really aren’t following their thinking through with logical analysis on that one.

Kingdom Hearts will come. It’s released on every Nintendo portable since GBA. I’m not entirely sure it’ll be announced this soon, at this particular direct, but it’s definitely coming.

That’s not what the producer of KH3 says. He says they’re going to look into bringing it to Switch after the other versions released. I’m pretty sure he knows more about what’s capable for the game than you do. When you port games, resolution and framerate aren’t the only concessions that can be made. In fact, they’re the low hanging fruit. The more experienced dev teams know where they can cut back without sacrificing anything major the player will notice.

And the game isn’t even remotely in the same camp as Red Dead 2. When you have the game’s own producer saying they’re going to look into it it pretty much negates anything you say about it being impossible.

Doom / wolf 2 is a 15hr - 30hrs worth of content game. KH3 is a 80 - 200hrs game. Look at the Contents please, graphics alone is not enough to justify for a port.

More than likely just FFVII available after the Direct and FFIX sometime in February/March.

No, it’s not what every developer says.

Most simply say no, we have no plans. That’s what most say.

When a developer is asked point blank and they say yes, yes we are, our focus right now is on these versions and once we’re done we will look into bringing them to the system, and when that franchise has a long and storied history on the platform... it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together.

If it’s not possible then they’ll let us know, but it’s not going to be because random Internet user #347 told us it wasn’t possible

Even if they announce it now I will not get hyped. They announced Dragon Quest XI almost two years ago for Nintendo Switch and we are still waiting.

@Forill If you had a PS4 or PC then you don't have to wait but the Switch version does have some extra stuff so hopefully it's worth the wait. I'm still disappointed they didn't bring over the 3DS version, now my DS/3DS family is missing a DQXI.

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Xenogears ports are coming and Dragon Quest X is released tomorrow and it comes bundled with Personsa V on a single cartridge in a rare joint venture with Atlus.

Expect a release date for FFVII/FFIX and maybe a localization announcement for DQXIS/DQB2.

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't coming to the Switch anytime soon, though its predecessors may, if murmurings are to be believed.

Alright good to be optimistic. KH3 port or not is no big deal, But ill bet 100% that for the entire N.switch lifespan, KH3 is NOT gonna be on it. Next gen maybe. Dont anticipate it and dont wait for it, my advise to Kh-Nintendo fans.

Considering Sora is owned by Disney, I'd say it's very unlikely Sora's getting in. If they're announcing anything, it'll be release dates. I mean, look at the Final Fantasy content in Ultimate. It's Cloud, his two fighter spirits, his stage Midgar, and two songs for it. That's it. If that's all they could get to begin with, I doubt they'll get anything more in terms of representation, be it from Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts.

Will we see the return of the Seven Stars? Let me dream.

Honestly, any Kingdom Hearts on Switch would be great, as I never played any of them except for DDD - which I enjoyed.

FFVII HD would be great too. I played it on PS back in the day and it was amazing, I'm ready for a portable HD remake. I'm already hyped about the other FFs coming to Switch, my only problem is picking out which ones I want most.

Also KH3 doesn't even run super well on the consoles it's on right now. So it is possible that for whatever reason, whether it's poorly optimised or it uses a lot of resources, that it won't work on the Switch.

@frogopus @ddowler85 From what I heard, KH3 is a much easier game when it comes to core gameplay because you're just far too overpowered for the most part. I played all the other games on the hardest difficulty so for me it's a letdown.

I won't spoil you, but I've already skimmed through the story of KH3 and ultimately it seems like a major letdown for something that should be an end of a saga that is supposed to tie any loose ends and make things that don't make sense better.

The writing in the entire series seems like it's just made on the spot and the director really doesn't know what to do with the series. Disney worlds I imagine should be the best part of the third game, but the few I've seen were a little on the poor side. I watched a review on YouTube and I seem to agree that Frozen and Tangled being slammed in as poor re-tellings of their original stories is kind of jarring.

I know this was the case with the previous games in the series as well, but there was a certain charm with the old games which I am missing here from everything I've seen (which is a lot).

Perhaps my opinion will alter once I have my hands on the full game. So far it doesn't look like a game that fulfills all the hype and expectations for the amount of time everyone has been waiting for it to come out.

@Varkster I can affirm that KH3 is a very disappointing game (but I love the first and second KH). It literally has no Final Fantasy characters whatsoever (moogles aside), the combat is extremely simplistic, repetitive and easy (on proud mode), the cutscenes are extremely numerous and long, and the story before beating the final Disney world is just truly terrible.

If you like the Kingdom Hearts story and just want to see how it ends, I highly recommend just watching a playthrough of the game (post the 8th Disney world). The fighting could have been the game's saving grace, but the abilities and their poorly implemented, automated, repetitive utilization are truly unenjoyable.

Yup, I'm not even sure the switch could handle kh3. This is definitely just going to be about the ports, which I'm still grateful for actually (finally a chance to play the best games in my favourite genre!)

@garfreek I don’t know, I think with only a small loss in quality it could handle KH3. It didn’t exactly push the consoles, a lot of technical analyses actually attacked it for not looking as nice as it could. It’d still take a hit, but it probably could work.

The bigger issue is the game was in development for at least 5 years and the Switch was not even around for half that. Square wasn’t even really focusing on it until this past year. There’s next to no chance that they, in the past couple years, threw together a port as the game was being finished, especially considering it would’ve been in their interest to announce it with the dump of Final Fantasy games. It’s just realistically not happening. Technically... maybe the Switch can’t handle it? I’d say it’s near the border of what the console could handle (assuming it took a small but noticeable hit). But realistically... it just isn’t coming for Switch, at least within the next year (and I doubt ever - maybe Nintendo’s next console will be included in the inevitable trilogy rerelease).

@Mrtoad Exactly. SE has only given Nintendo spin-offs. The first 2 mainline games could have come to Nintendo consoles, and their HD remasters could have as well. KH3 might be too much in its current state, but that's no excuse, after all these years, that the first 2 mainline games never have. It's like throwing a pizza party for all your friends, but singling out one of them and telling him he can only have the crazy bread and none of the pizza.

@ShadJV it's a winner the thing ever made it out of development hell. So a switch port might take a while. I know the guy responsible is now going to focus solely on making that final fantasy 7 remake work. His split focus is what delayed kh3 to begin with as I recall.

@Heavyarms55 Keep in mind that even the Xbox One didn’t get the remakes of the first two, despite getting KH3. Square has some baffling logic with the series. I wonder if Sony has some sort of exclusivity contract with the first two. Or maybe Square is just too lazy to update the UI to show buttons that aren’t PS controller shapes?

Either a snap release of FFVII or IX on the eshop, a port of the terrible Secret of Mana remake or an English translation of the Mana collection.

I'm still waiting on their "promise" on a remaster of the first NieR, as they mentioned if Automata sold well, they might do it. Automata was... nay... is an amazing game as well and would love to see the original NieR drop to Nintendo Switch.

I've always though most people who loved Kingdom Hearts loved the story and gameplay, while i'm into just getting into playing the game more than the story itself.

If this turns into 30 minutes of Square Enix announcements and not a shred of information on Animal Crossing I shall completely lose my [removed] and not in the good way.

Plus, I'm starting to get sick of ports. I want something new and not something I can already play on other platforms.

Selfishly, I'd already have completed KH3 by now if it was on Switch so I'd be a bit annoyed about my purchase of it for the PS4 but I would be happy for those who only have Switch.

I really really want them to get to a point where switch isn't a 'maybe in six months' system though as I own Switch, PS4 and Xbox and I want to make an informed choice on what system to buy a game on and preferably I'd like to buy it on switch for the portability. Been holding out on Spyro for so long and just hoping they eventually just announce it. If KH gets released for Switch now I think I'll have to hold out and wait for any and all purchases from now on seen as publishers won't let you be informed for the release of the game

@Urameshi The difficultly thing could be patched and I honestly thought that from an objective standpoint as a fan, the story already was kinda bad. The lack of Final Fantasy was stupid though and Nomura was surprised by the idea people liked Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts 3. IMO it’s still at the very least a top 3 game in the series for what that’s worth. I think the wait killed it for people. My expectations were tempered by early leakers talking the game down.

I do agree that the switch could get KH 1.5, 2.5 & 2.8 if thats what that last one is called. KHIII im not sure the switch would get considering the games don't even run that well on PS4 and X1 (X & Pro included)

Digital Foundry has a video. KH3 at 1080p runs at 60 fps with minimal frame drops on PS4 Pro. When you try to run it at 2k or 4k is when it drops to the 40's & 50's. Far from "Not running well" 😏
