Ah, Saturday. Quite possibly the best day of the week; certainly in the top five. It's been a busy week despite the post-Direct lull. News that Reggie Fils-Aimé will be stepping down in April had us rewatching classic clips with a tear in the eye. Enough of that nonsense, though. Reggie wouldn't want us moping around - he'd want us playing the very best games that Switch and 3DS have to offer, so that's what the Nintendo Life team are going to do! These are our game-based plans and we'd love to hear yours, so get involved in the poll and comments. Have fun!

This weekend, after Reggie’s announcement, I’m honestly just looking for comfort and warmth in a world of utter darkness. I think I’ll stick to my favorites - finishing off the DLC in Breath of the Wild, unlocking some new characters in Smash Ultimate, playing a few rounds in Splatoon 2. I’ll probably pick up the old 3DS as well, and knock back some Animal Crossing & Pokémon. I’m feeling sad, people, so all I wanna do is play games that I know and love. I’ll also be rewatching “best of” clips of Reggie on repeat via the YouTube app on Switch - does that count?

It's been a busy week and I've only managed to squeeze in thirty minutes with the latest Tetris game to arrive on Switch. Those thirty minutes were enough to confirm two things: firstly, I'm absolutely rubbish at Tetris, and secondly, I need to be careful that Tetris 99 doesn't suck away all my weekend hours.
Assuming I can avoid that particular pitfall, I'd really like to get into Ikaruga. I got the game, I got the Flip Grip but I just haven't had the chance to play the thing, much to the chagrin of my fellow Nintendo Life staff. I'm on the case, team! Let's just hope I'm better at shmups than Tetris...

There is so much shooting to be done this weekend courtesy of the eShop! The excellent Rock n' Roll Racing spiritual sequel BlazeRush, the solid Cybernator-inspired mech action of Gigantic Army, becoming the aliens in X-Morph: Defense and even WW2 dogfighting and air base management in Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight. But the most shooting of all will be done in Gameloft’s surprisingly impressive Modern Combat Blackout, proof that you don’t really miss Call of Duty until Activision simply stops releasing it in your Nintendo console of choice and every other FPS out there is now some sort of F2P Battle Royale thingamajig.
Game of the week goes with little surprise to Protoculture Game’s appropriately titled horizontal shmup Devil Engine! A love letter to retro shmups where you will have as much fun testing your skills to a non-stop barrage of action while also picking up Easter eggs references to other shmups such as Thunder Force IV and Last Resort. Time to pick up a 5th microSD card I guess...

This weekend I'm going to be playing a LOT of Anthem. However, when I'm not flying about shooting grabbits in my javelin, I'll be taking Trials Rising on Nintendo Switch for a spin. I've loved the series since it debuted way back on Xbox 360, so I'm hoping this port will live up to the hype. I imagine I'll be swearing my head off when a mistime a jump for 100th time, but that's Trials! Look out for my review on the site next week.

This weekend I’m playing more Tetris 99, more Wargroove and more Hollow Knight. I’ve also managed to finally rip myself away from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to spend some well overdue time with Dragon Ball FighterZ. It’s another one of those games I bought in launch week and never got around to properly playing due to the busy time of year. When I’m not playing any of these titles, I might give the Trials Rising beta another go. I’ll admit the Switch version definitely isn’t the best-looking one, but it hasn’t been enough to detract from the overall level of fun I’ve had with the game so far.

Disgaea 5 when I have time.
Tetris 99 and Downwell when I don’t.
Tetris 99 and Breath of the Wild are seeing some heavy playtime. And I may fire up Fortnite and team up with my daughter for the free season pass.
Havent decided yet might download something new any suggestions??
Smash, Tetris 99 and some Pool Panic for something less intense. Have a good weekend!
After wanting a Switch for the last two years I finally got one tonight, and the two games I bought with it were Doom and Sonic Mania Plus; so those two are what I'm playing this weekend! =)
I just beat FFIX, doing some side quests as we speak. Didn't have the patience for Chocobo Hot and Cold back in my previous runs, but having the game on the go helps a ton, I'm getting into it.
Still playing Smash obviously, and will start Metroid Prime 2 very soon. I just beat the first game, so that leaves 2 and 3 as the only Metroid games to beat (and Other M, but I'm still iffy about giving that one a go).
X Morph Defense and Tetris 99 in between. I really like X Morph - looks cool and plays very intuitive. The best thing are the Boss battles!
Sega ages sonic and alex kidd!
Binding of Isaac. Am trying to unlock the Mega Blast now, by defeating Mega Satan with every character. I only have two left... Blue Baby, and Keeper. Which probably means that I will still be trying this for weeks!!! 780 hours now, my God! I hope that everyone has a great weekend!
I'm just about to start playing Trials Rising, hoping it'll convince me to buy the full game. I'll be playing Tetris 99 and a lot of it. The rest of my gaming time this weekend will be trying to set high scores on the Aqua Kitty UDX, Outrun and Thunderforce IV. Aqua Kitty is a great little game. The arcade and Dreadnought modes are really addictive.
Breath of the Wild - time to try the Switch version. I'm hoping there's less pop-up than in the impressive Wii U version. The Switch screen and pro controller seem like the real upgrade.
If anyone's played both since all the updates I'd appreciate any advice before spending my rupees!
No “something else” option this week? How presumptive...
This week I will be mostly playing
Kirby Star Allies
But I may also dabble with
Mario & Donkey Kong
Super Mario Maker
Last week I posted how I was on the last chapter of Celeste and that I thought the game was almost perfect, especially its duration.
I have since spent the last week getting my behind handed to me by the summit. I have spent about an hour dying over and over again on flag thirteen.
Those strawberries can go to hell and those mix tapes are getting put in a box in the attic alongside the rest of my analogue media.
I recently picked up an outrageous number of games on sale, and it will be impossible to give them all the attention they deserve. Of those games, I did already beat Gorogoa and Gone Home though, as they are pretty short. I'll probably give Aragami an initial spin next since I haven't tried that one yet, and I'll keep trying to improve at Tetris 99. After that, who knows...
Tetris and GTA Online
I'm inching my way through doom in unconvincing fashion.
Civ6 and trying to make sense of all it's complexity. True to it's legend, it has kept me up late. If anyone here knows of an online guide to the interface, would be very grateful
Trials Rising beta. This game is fantastic on Switch.
People need to play the beta. It’s free and can be downloaded right now! The game looks pretty good on Switch, even in handheld, it runs well, and it’s fun as heck. I love Ubisoft’s Trials series.
@OorWullie
I recommend using the right analog stick instead of the ZR trigger, for full analog control. It feels a little weird at first because, well, how many games have you used the right analog stick to control an analog throttle, right? But it doesn’t take long before it starts feeling natural. You need that analog throttle though. I just couldn’t play it using the digital trigger.
EarthBound on SNES Classic, Smash Ultimate on Switch, and Yo-Kai Watch 3 on 3DS! I’d say that’s a pretty well-rounded selection.
My King K. Rool and Piranha Plant amiibo finally came in! 😃 They’re super high-quality; the unnecessary amount of detail really pushes these more recent amiibo over the top.
Additionally, does anyone have any good recommendations for Switch/3DS eShop games $20 or under?
Everyone have a great, safe, and God-blessed weekend! 😊
@bluemage1989 Since you like history, have you tried CIV 6?
@spirit_flame Civ 6's interface is tricky to get to grips with but works well in in the end (repeated presses of the - button explains what most of the onscreen buttons do pretty well).
Apart from navigating the Civilopedia which is such a nightmare it's better to use a wiki (Fandom's is excellent)!
Playing PS4 and XB1 this weekend instead of my switch. I’ve had game pass for 2 weeks and I’m trying to get as much use out of it to try out games I missed. Gonna play Observer and Arkham Asylum
@Vulpern Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one. I've looked around and the interface is severely undocumented. Slowly getting there...
About to give Trials Rising a go. Just waiting for the expansion pass to download. Amazon Australia seems to have shipped my copy a few days early...hit my PO Box on Thursday and it’s due locally on the coming Tuesday. Been too busy to give it a go until now and since they’ve slipped up on the dates I can’t yet redeem the Nintendo Points. Heh.
Otherwise I’ll be working through Workd 7 of New Super Mario U Deluxe.
@CurryPowderKeg79 I've added it in!
_
I should also say I will be playing Sushi Striker on the Switch. I managed to find a cheap copy online about a month ago and it's finally shown up in the mail.
@MH4 @bluemage1989 I'd love to give a suggestion. Are there types of games you love? Or even types of games you hate?
I found NBA 2K19 on a killer sale last weekend so I just spent a couple hours on that. I'd like to get some more time in on Ys VIII as well
@JaxonH Cheers, that helps a lot. I'm pretty impressed with the game. It looks and plays great.
Still Resident Evil 2 and Metro Exodus. Moonlighter on Switch is starting to grab me after a slow start.
I am going to play Wargroove campaign. Also I'm trying to finish the last 2 c-sides in Celeste (and trying to get all red strawberries). I will probably also play some detective pikachu on my o3dsxl.
@bluemage1989 @MH4 Have you played Inside? It's one of my favourite games on Switch, played through it twice. It's not very long, about 4 or 5 hours but it's an experience you will remember.
Switch games and Pokemon X time for this weekend! 🤓
1. Pokemon X (3DS)
https://s.pacn.ws/640/fe/pokemon-x-277413.23.jpg?ocalx7
Woo Hoo !!!
I got Xerneas from Pokemon X !! 🤓

2. ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe & Go Vacation (Switch)

Play those games for 2.5 hours with my little friend at my local game shop.
@Dromosus yeah, you should not try all strawberries in your first play through. I recommend to do the hardest ones after some b-sides because you gameplay will develop (and they also teach a few additional moves, note that you can do them from the geko but they don't tell you)
@OorWullie I haven’t, but I’ll look it up! Thanks for the suggestion : )
@leo13 I love fighters, platformers, and RPGS, I hate horror and anything inappropriate. Take what you will from that! 😁
This week it'll be a mix of Tetris 99, Celeste, Hollow Knight and Mega Man/Mega Man X/Mega Man 11.
I'll be playing some PC games. (Breach early access, The Sims 4, etc)
And I am making a new Super Mario Maker level each week between the Direct and the eventual launch of the sequel.
I've also started playing Breath of the Wild again.
@MH4 on switch I recommend Celeste, hollow knight or the messenger if you like platformers
I never thought I’d say this but I’m hooked on Sushi Striker.
@Anti-Matter Why do you feel the need to post box art for every game you play ?
I will mostly play final fantasy IX (I believe I am the start of the third CD and oh boy the game is just as fenomenal as I always heard. So far goes directly easily to top 3 (along VI and VII) as gameplay is amazing and the story is getting there) and I will grab some more stars in mario galaxy (I have about 80 so far and it is getting serious now. Also I cannot understand how you float properly with the ghost...)
I replayed Mega Man Zero 3 again in honor of the announcement of the hardcover rerelease of the MMZ Complete Works artbook (I'll take any excuse to play my favorite platformer). Annoyingly enough, I ended up overlooking one single disk, and of course, it was one of the missable resistance base ones too...
I also finally got around to building the Kotobukiya Zero model kit.
It's surprisingly sturdy for a model kit and captures the silhouette of the character better than the Figuarts one.
I finally got NSO, so I'm playing Tetris 99 and Smash online.
Also Horizon Zero Dawn. Nearly done with my second playthrough.
@Balta666 I loved Celeste, still need to finish Hollow Knight, but I don’t have Messenger. I’ll check it out!
@CurryPowderKeg79 YOU SHALL PLAY WHAT WE DICTATE!!! Ha, no - a web gremlin came and stole it off the bottom of the list. Yep, gremlins. Definitely not me forgetting 😉
I just finished Final Fantasy IX last night, and I’m not sure what I want to play next. I might jump back into Splatoon 2. Haven’t played that in a while. Maybe I’ll play some more Smash Bros. Diablo III has been calling to me as well. And I’ll probably throw in some quick rounds of Tetris 99 while I’m at it.
I finished Nekopara volume 2 yesterday, played a decent bit of Pokemon Go while shopping today. Then a good 2 and a half hours of Tales of Vesperia. Little Hearthstone in between, just enough to knock out the daily quest.
Tomorrow I am probably gonna start Steins;Gate Elite!
Also took a break from Wargroove cause I had an craving for some more Civilization 6 - a game that I just find super chill.
@LunarFlame17 You just finished FF9? Not on Switch!? It's been out on Switch for like, what, not even 2 weeks? That's hella fast to slam through a JRPG! What was your playtime?
@Heavyarms55 Uh, I’m not sure. Around 30 hours maybe? It was a lot shorter than I remembered . I didn’t do any extra stuff, and I made liberal use of the boosters, especially towards the end, so that probably helped me get through it quicker.
@spirit_flame I find online written guides for that game to be overwhelming since they just dump information on you. I'd encourage you to look up some gameplay videos on YouTube instead and watch other people playing. The Switch is especially well suited to this, since it is so easy to play the game in portable mode while watching someone play on your TV or PC.
Q.U.B.E. 2, obv, but what the heck were they thinking not giving your character a body? Can’t unsee that, unfortch.
Small bursts of OlliOlli. Illusory realm bosses in BotW. Moon-hunting in Odyssey. Further side-scrolling in The Messenger.
And on and on and on...
Happy weekend!
@LunarFlame17 Ah okay, I guess that would make it a lot faster. From what I read they added a pile of boosters that would make most steroid users frightened. lol
@Balta666 Thanks for the feedback. Problem is, I'm not even going for the strawbs or b-sides. I'm just really bad at the actual game!
I am a forty three year old man with a two week wait for my first pair of reading glasses and the reflexes of a pregnant yak.
Once I get to the top of this bloody mountain I'm going to play something really, really easy...
@Jin15 Congrats, you picked two great games too. If you need any recommendations, I’m happy to help.
@Heavyarms55 Yeah the boosters are great. I’ve gotten bogged down about midway through the third disc the last few times I’ve tried to play it, and being able to speed up the game and turn on god mode really helped me power through this time.
@Dromosus hehe well the game is not easy... Why won't you give it try on the assistance? (like one extra dash or additional time until it looses grip on the walls)
I've been playing a lot of Link's Awakening lately, including some randomized runs, but I still have a goal of clearing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door by the end of the weekend.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate, SNK Heroines, King of Fighters 02, and 03 for the Switch.
Jump Force, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 2, and Soul Calibur 6 on PS4.
Just finished dkc3 last night. I'll play a little smash, Kirbys adventure and hollow knight. Mostly playing twilight princess hd though. And i just started metroid fusion too!
Tetris 99 is tough. But addictive. 20 games played. Best finish is 25th.
Giana Sisters DS, almost finished and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Am a little disappointed so far with Metroid Prime 3 as I prefered the interconnected worlds of Prime 1 & 2. Hoping it picks up though as I'm not that far into the game.
Just finished the 4th Survivor (Hunk) on Resident Evil 2 so I fancied a change of pace and have been playing Ori and The Blind Forest, which is fantastic so far and shark hunting on Sea of Thieves. As for Switch it'll be Final Fantasy IX for some time by the looks of it, never played it before despite playing all of the others and I'm really enjoying it
Been playing Apex Legend on my XB1. Addictive.
Tokyo School Life, I loved this visual novel so much, I want to replay my favorite route in the game. Also Tetris 99, haven't won a game yet, but still having fun with it. My highest rank was #3. Hoping to squeeze in some Sonic Battle on GBA as I wanted to play it this past week, but didn't get a chance to.
Started with Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land again. Really neat title for Gameboy. Other than that it's mostly Smash and Dragonball Budokai Tenkaichi 2/3
@bluemage1989 what type of games are you into?
@Jin15 DOOM is awesome man, my third favorite Switch game! Try the multiplayer, it's great!
I started Tales of Vesperia last night, hoping to dive deep into that today.
There will probably also be some Smash with my kidlet...
Smash Ultimate and Okami HD.
Today will be mostly Sega Saturn lightgun games on the old crt tv.
😁😁😁😁😁
Tomorrow N64 Sin and Punishment then maybe a session on Goldeneye.
Thanks to my work schedule my weekend actually just ended. I bounced between Dark Souls, MHGU, Breath of the Wild, and Gear.Club Unlimited 2. I played the occasional matches in Tetris 99 as well.
I'm probably gonna be playing King of the Hat and Rivals of Aether on my PC, as well as some Smash Bros. Tis the weekend for platform fighters I guess.
1. IronMan... I mean, ANTHEM 😉
2, Maybe finally get to play the Daemon demo ( Metro: Exodus took all my time, great story driven game)
A western/japanese mech filled weekend 😊
@Jin15 awesome! DOOM was the first game I downloaded when I got my Switch I absolutely love it! Have fun!
@Vulpern we bought Breath of the Wild on Wii U upon release and my son and I both sunk hundreds of hours on it between us... I didn’t think I could face starting over again on Switch but my son took a real hankering for it so I got it for his Switch and he has loved starting from scratch! Just watching him play has made me want it again for my Switch 😂
Decided to restart my game playing kick. This weekend is Atari Flashback Classics on Switch, Atari Flashback Gold 8 HD for Activision games, MAME arcade for other arcade games, NES Classic, followed by Sega Genesis Collection for Switch, and SNES classic which'll probably carry me a couple weeks.
Switch:
PS4:
Have played some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a couple of matches of Fortnite after abandoning it for a couple of months... Keep playing Tetris99, cracking up and switching it off... only to come crawling back for more lol Have a good weekend all.
I tried Trials Rising and I can certainly see how one could have fun playing it. I'm just so used to Trials games running at 60fps. It really seems like the resolution could be reduced in order to achieve a faster frame rate. I was impressed with how high res it looked in handheld mode, which makes me think there's room for reduction. I love games like Pokken Tournament, Diablo 3, Yoshi's Crafted World(yes, I've only played the demo), and all the lower resolution games that run perfectly smoothly. At least Toy Stunt Bike looks nice! (It looks even better on 3ds with it's 60fps and excellent 3d effect!).
I'll be playing the incredible Kingdom Two Crowns, as well as Wargroove. I'm sure I'll also play Katamari Damacy Reroll and Civ 6 this weekend. Oh, and Gris! And Strikey Sisters, Tetris 99, Bad North, and Kero Blaster! Those last 5 games are all showcases for 60 fps gameplay, by the way : )
I'm still working my way through Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on my Wii U. I just finished the monstrous Chapter 15 during my last session, reunited the two siblings, and encountered some interesting plot developments.
I'm gonna need a brief break this morning from the above, so I think more Detective Pikachu on my 3DS is in order. I've been playing it when I need a less stressful game.
Have a safe, fun, game-filled weekend everyone!
Continuing to churn through the one-player side of Smash; but also polishing off Nihilumbra.
Honestly, outside of some web-slinging on the PS4, TETRIS99 has dominated most of my gaming this week. I did finally snag IMMORTAL REDNECK on the NA sale so I will play some of that too. And I think I will finally pick up BEATLES: ROCK BAND. The trailer for YESTERDAY has had me humming Beatles' tunes all week. Time to pull the guitars out of the bedroom!
Namco Museum
Moonlighter
Picked up Moonlighter: fun, complex, and challenging. A nice mix of Stardew Valley, Legend of Zelda, & Binding of Isaac.
Continuing through Witcher 3 on PS4; Centipede on Atari 7800 and Warfame on Switch.
@Medic_alert what do you think of the Xbox one X? I’m kinda interested because of forza horizon 4 but can’t really justify the price yet.
Diablo 3 and maybe some Splatoon 2 on the switch, Pokémon Go and WoW.
I'll be playing Wolfenstein II with some Smash and Tetris 99 on the side.
I've been playing Xenoblade X on Wii U. A few hours in so will still be a while until I fully get into it. Plus it really has to live up to Xenoblade 2 (and Torna) which I absolutely loved.
Blazblue Central Fiction will be arriving later on today so will be jumping into some of that later. I already have it for the PC but Switch is the perfect platform so wanted it on there too!
smash for switch. resident evil 2, code veronica x, and duke nukem forever for xbox x
The Mega Man X Legacy Collection. I've been playing mostly X3, X4 and X8 since I got a Switch.
@blockfight I don’t even really like Tetris, and I keep playing it. I got to 9th place once, but that was total luck. I also finished 97th once, so my experience has really run the gamut.
@mcdreamer I need to go back to Xenoblade X again some day. I got almost to the end a couple years ago, then Skyrim came out on the Switch, and then Xenoblade 2 a few weeks after that, and I just never went back. I keep hoping it gets announced for the Switch, but at this point I need to just go back and try it again.
@Heavyarms55 Thanks, I appreciate it. You know, I've found the info dumps from the PC users intimidating also. I've bookmarked several wikis and slowly studying. Then short games to test and observations on the iconography. The Youtube videos... 30+ minutes is a bit much (especially) if it's a whacked vblogger high on meth's or someone that can't articulate speech. Getting there though. Each play through is getting more sophisticated
Ditched XCOM 2 on my ps4 as the performance was terrible. Which is a shame, as I'm a fan of the series. I'll probably play some Wargroove and have just started Until Dawn again, where I think I might try to get everyone killed this time around.
I will be play Mutant League football.
Everybody’s golf for ps4
Don't have like a whole lot of time to play this weekend, but when I do find some, I've been working through Final Fantasy IX little by little. Also been playing some Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kirby's Adventure on NSO NES just before bed.
Been playing the open beta of Trials Rising, Paladins (because I am a sucker for TF2 style games), Tetris 99 and still trying to find an ingredient for a side quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna.
@LunarFlame17 I was also waiting for a Switch version of X, and really hoping for 1 as well, but in the end I couldn't wait so picked up a Wii U to play both!
XB1 stuff, Switch isn't going to get much use until the end of March.
@spirit_flame also got it a few weeks back, but after a couple hours of tutorials on youtube and 20h in the game I still don’t have a clue what I’m doing
Anthem. C'mon guys.
Some Aragami, Modern Combat, City of Brass, and some Dont Sink in between em all.
Still beating people in Tetris 99. Won about 30 out of 80 games now
I'm playing through Jump Force and Kero Blaster. Soon enough, I'll be playing through RemiLore.
Played a bit of Starlink co-op with one of my kids. Nice to play a big open-world(s) game in local co-op.
Xenoblade 2 on TV, and Wargroove on the go. What a mix!
Assassins Creed Origins on Ps4 a game I was given at Christmas but only just got round to playing.Loving it so far!more like the Witcher than an Assassins Creed game but I'm not complaining..
Finished Atelia Sophie last night so now I'm looking forward to both Atelia Firis and Atelia Lydia which I have just ordered online.
On Switch i will continue my long adventure with Valkyria Chronicles 4...a game that is a blast to play!45 hours in and just started Chapter 11.
@HumanDog got any tips?! I finished Top20... once. Other than I’m lucky to get Top50!
Yakuza Kiwami and Pokemon Omega Ruby.
Really in a Pokemon mood so playing the alternate versions of past gens. Even bought Ultra Moon after only playing Sun from gen 7.
After a long break I have been playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 again. I had forgotten how much I like that game.
@MSTRDM It's a complex game, with several ways of winning. My problem is I know the concepts, but complexity comes from the various resource types - icons, understanding them. Basically almost everything has both a cost and usage depletion. Where the game gets tough is 'balancing' stuff. Like city management vs generating soldiers vs grinding through various history progress tree's. All this with rival AI doing the same and sometimes fighting for resources. FIRST thing is choose "Settler" difficulty as that is the easiest. Then, comes learning... Worth it, as it's one of the best strategy games, more so on the Switch.
Doing a bit of Smash Spirit Board as per usual these days, running around doing quests in Xenoblade, checking out some of the stuff I got this week. Road Redemption is expectedly fun, Super Chariot promises to be fun as well, Shut Eye looks like it can convincingly hold some FNAF fans over until FNAF arrives (if that was confirmed - hard to keep track these days when half the newsposts seem to come with "rumour" label). I'd really like to try Okami, but its 9 Gb are better off left until I spend enough time at home for the Wi-Fi download.
Enough that I spent 3 Gb of mobile data on an open beta - mostly for the bonus (Trials Rising is a low priority for me since my nerves are still tense towards the genre after the trophy hunt in Pumped BMX+, but if I ever get it, a free bike won't hurt). That said, the game IS pretty fun... oh, and the sandstorm maligned in an NL post the other day? I have yet to see it anywhere past the first track.
Liar Princess has come to feature some text and number puzzles, and they get me - either due to translation challenges or to my own incompetence (statistics lean sharply towards the latter), but a couple times I picked the lock combination manually because I couldn't completely grasp what the task wanted of me. I've also ended up missing a few petals and one flower, so I'm pondering now whether to play on or backtrack to the earlier levels that indicate missed collectibles. Dunno if any of it influences stuff like endings or whatnot, but the witch stories and the artwork unlocked in the process are an incentive for me in themselves. And the story is becoming more bittersweet by the cutscene.
Something else? Well, something I've TRIED to play. My Atelier binge stopped since lending my GPDW to a friend, but after learning that my phone can apparently stomach some PS2 (and has higher specs than GPDW overall), I couldn't but wonder... after all, we're talking sprite graphics and games whose menu-driven nature can more or less coexist even with a touchscreen that needs a goddamn swipe to summon the "home button" (I swear, I won't be surprised if in a few years phone makers will even want us to adjust volume telepathically). But... despite finding one emulator that runs the game just fine, most of the text - fully readable before in PCSX2 on Win10, mind you - suddenly looks like a mess of e's and punctuation marks. I'm aware that PS2 emulation on Android is very nascent regardless of hardware used, but SUCH different results from the same patched image... serves me right for thinking I knew even 5% of how fan translations work. 🙄 I may ask around on r/Atelier, but I'm not holding my breath.
Working through Etrian Odyssey Nexus this weekend! Had a few Wargroove challenges, so I'll be playing a bit of that.
Warframe. I am still amazed at how good a job they did on the Switch version. Sure it might have a steep learning curve, but damn the game is amazing on so many levels.
Anthem and Apex. Both on PS4.
Dragon: Marked for Death and Wargroove on Switch.
Persona 3 FES (PS2: Male/Aigis) - working my way to tarturus
Persona 3 Portable (PSP: Female), - starting over starting this Sunday to play as the female character

Tetris 99 is so addictive! Damn I hate that game so much. As for Dom - don’t play Trial Rising mate!!! It plays okay but the graphics are absolutely dreadful. Its like having a fog over your eyes.
It has nothing to do with power it is lazy, lazy programming and in the modern age it is not acceptable at all.
I'm playing Mario + Rabbids, Banner Saga, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Tetris 99, Smash Bros. Ultimate and Riptide GP. I'm doing a lot!!
Playing some X-Morph mixed with some God Eater 3 and Air Combat 7 on PS4. Too many juggling of games.
@MH4 I’ll chime in with The Gardens Between, currently 10 bucks on the eshop. Really an all around lovely puzzle game, heartfelt and made with careful attention to detail and narrative. If you’ve a soft spot for childhood nostalgia and puzzle games, I highly recommend.
@Chimaj i had thought about Civ 6 but wasnt sure if i had the time to give it the attention it deserves these next few weeks. Is learning the games in and outs initally fun or does it take a while to really get going?? @nintendobynature i have quite a broad interest of games so willing to try anything and especially something that has a great story but also down for some arcadey fun.
Windows Phone:
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit - I'm actually enjoying the tilt controls in this game so far.
Ridiculous Marathon - Almost done with this.
Xbox 360:
Unbound Saga - Decent Comix Zone clone.
I've been hooked on Starlink: Battle for Atlas lately. I've grab most of the toys since many local retailers have been selling them for half off, so I have been working on ship and weapon mastery in preparation for the content update next month. I also picked up a physical copy of Katamari Damacy: Reroll so I've started playing that
FFIX and Tetris 99 for this weekend. Also trials rising since its free. I just got urban tribal playground so I want to unlock everything in that before buying ubisoft's offering. It is fun tho and I'm interested in getting it, maybe on sale..
@Vulpern Hey I played both! Pop in is present to the same degree on Switch as on Wii U — didn’t notice any improvement there. Resolution is better (900p on Switch vs 720p on Wii U) although I didn’t notice a huge improvement subjectively. Frame rate is better on Switch, but once again didn’t notice a huge improvement subjectively; problematic areas like Korok Forest and Kakariko Village with rain still had noticeable frame drops on Switch. Overall the biggest noticeable improvements to me came in the form of handheld play being viable (720p screen vs the 480p screen of the GamePad makes a huge improvement, although TV still looks impressive) and usability of the Pro Controller which is lighter and more comfortable than the Wii U GamePad. Hope this helps!
@spirit_flame Trump, while primarily a Hearthstone streamer (no releation to the US cheeto... I mean President) has done a bunch of chill YouTube videos about Civ 6. They tend to be pretty long, but you certainly don't have to watch them all in one sitting. A far cry from the PewDiePie style of overly popular YouTube meth induced vomit.
@shadow-wolf Thanks very much. BOTW arriving later today with a new pair of headphones, as I've heard the sound's improved on Switch. Hyrule deserves whatever upgrade I can give it!
@Heavyarms55 Thanks, will look up Trump later today.
@spirit_flame try to look for “civilization 6 - a tutorial for complete beginners” on youtube i found this to be an absolute great tutorial to get into the game. I hesitated long to get the game but it is so addictive
@Drussa Thank you. Will look this up today. It certainly is addictive. More so on hand held. My games are getting more involved now.
If I find time it will be Warframe. Great an polished game, especially with a clan/alliance. But most of my time is consumed by an 8 week old puppy right now!
Still addicted to Warframe. 150 hr and counting.
Working on my sixth frame and I've only spent $20. Not because I had to but because I felt they deserve it. Excellent game I can't understand why it's not more popular.
@Dromosus You can do it, friend. I clocked in an amazing 5431 deaths on that game, but I persevered and made it. And it was worth it.
Finishing Metroid Prime 2 and Wolfenstein. Rocket League and Tetris99 in between
Going to chalk up a few more races in Horizon Chase Turbo. Damn that game is fast.
I'm back to Gabbuchi this weekend.
@Anti-Matter Please try to avoid using too many images in a post.
@Octane
Oopsie, sorry. 😣
@dugan Thanks! I just completed it tonight. What a wonderful game. I was happy to get to the top and leave it at that though, I spent a moment in the core and then thought, “Nah, I’ll play something else now.”
Still, I think it was my all time Switch #3 after BOTW and Stardew. Might check out all those extra bits again after I’ve had a little break.
Minimal gaming time for me this weekend (although bit of board gaming with Mad City and Sushi Go Party was fun). Finally finished super mario bros 3 on the online nes thingy... can't believe I ever beat that game without save states as a littlun!... and also a tiny bit of rogue aces. That latter one i picked up in a sale and kinda enjoying but its not really grabbing me. I also played and finished count lucanor last weekend which i really enjoyed, although it gave me some wierd dreams!
The kids also got in a bit of jackbox party 3 which is always good for a laugh
Been digging back into Hollow Knight (need them dream essences) and Sundered. Two flavors of the same kind of candy, really.
The Trials open beta isn't actually open on the switch. Not really suprised, the eshop is still a joke.
@Savutano
Now, now, I’d take Switch GUI and it’s eshop over the other guys in a heartbeat.
1.)In the eshop, every title can be added to a wishlist. Not just some or none at all. In the eshop, all but half a dozen items are a video game. No movies, no questionable youtube ripping apps, no thermostat communication tools.
2.) In the GUI, I can find my games and console settings and not twelve hundred needless menus to get there.
Suffice to say, I was playing Hitman 1&2 on the XbonerXXX this weekend.
Kirby's Adventure, Three-Fourths Home, Old Man's Journey, Arcade Archives: Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Tetris 99, and ran some various Genesis games from the Classics Collection.
I bought a Switch with SMBU a few days ago.I'm also playing VRChat like usual. The girl in my avatar picture is the 3D avatar I use the most in that game.
Got stuck into Lego DC Villains.
Nearly done with the campaign but there is so much to do and collect in these games I can see myself playing it for a little bit longer.
@robr I have a wishlist set up on the switch, but it won't matter, because even the sale prices are a joke. They said they worked hard for 2 years or some bs on their eshop, and it's just a bad as the 3DS version. Constantly reminded that Nintendo is selling Switch/Games like hotcakes, yet I log in and still see garbage re-release ports from the past for $80cad. Am I surprised? No, Nintendo is a bunch of greedy, shady suits like everyone else, the cutesy characters are a good cover.
