So much junk this week except for Tetris and the NES games.
Edit: Oh and FF and Captain Toad lol
I guess there are at least some things.
Already purchased the magnificent FFIX.
Tetris 99 is a damn blast
And I thought I was the only one nostalgic for Commander Keen
Loving it! Slick simple interface, addictive game play with a nice modern twist.
@gloom I was gonna say this is the best update in a long time, haha. Funny how these things work.
OlliOlli, Steins;Gate, Final Fantasy, the huge Captain Toad update (although that isn’t really out yet), and of course Tetris 99 and both NES games.
Good week, wow.
Would love to try demos all of these games but I don’t have money to waste on things I might not like.
im gonna try out the demos today. i'll be getting yoshi in march. so nothing me this week.
Tetris 99 sounds cool, but I'm not a NSO member.
Tetris is pretty cool, played a couple of matches last night and the highest i achieved was placed 21st, not a bad attempt on my first play through
Why is the Wii U listed? That thing came out in late-2016, and was quickly replaced by Switch in early-2017 after being a commercial failure, meaning it didn't even see 4 years on the market! No one is making games for Wii U since it only got 4 weeks on the market!
Tetris is down right on the Switch Since you can invert up that makes it more appealing.
LOVE will probably take up the last of my MicroSD card.
So I guess it'll be time to get a new one.
Actually a pretty cool idea
@nintendosage Your comment is a joke, right? The Wii U released in 2012.
Beat Super Mario Bros 2 yesterday.
Halfway through Kirby's Adventure.
Beat the demo for Daemon x Machina yesterday.
Played some Iron Crypticle. Once I get bored of that, might need to replay through Shovel Knight Treasure Trove campaigns in anticipation for King Knight.
What is the demo for DXM like, I am so hyped for this game but haven't had change to try the demo as of yet nor Yoshi for that matter. I did play a couple of rounds of 99 Tetris though
FF9 FOR THE WIN! One of the greatest JRPGs of all time. Hands down.
@Welshland I loved it, but I do love giant robots so I'm biased. Good gameplay. Seems like most people enjoy it too.
The customization of your character and mech were awesome in my opinion.
Daemon X Machina demo for me!!!
Steins;Gate Elite — Got this one in the wings on GameFly, so I'll rent this.
Tetris 99 — So left field... All I can say is I've wanted an authentic Tetris to play on my Switch, am glad it's free, and glad that FINALLY NSO has SOME SORT of justification now. It's about time the "exclusives for NSO members" phrase meant something. Online vs. too? Let's gooooo!
Final Fantasy IX — Uh, WHERE did THIS come from? And available NOW?? WTF for real! You will be backlogged for the moment as I figure out how (and when) to get this bad boy in my possession...
Strikey Sisters — This feels like Zelda:ALttP mixed with brick breakers, both of which I adore. I will seek a review on it, but it looks fun. And 2P? Backlogged for now.
The Rainsdowne Players — Special mention for this one. I don't plan to play this unless it hits a hard sell, but I actually am drawn to its gameplay despite it's theme not necessarily "grabbing" me. I'll wait for now.
Trine 2: Complete Story — Had to mention this one too. The Trilogy is in the ether, so this is a complete pass for me. I just wish I could even FIND time to play the Trine series as the sample I had on Wii U was splendid.
Sinister Assistant — This intrigues me at least and gives me a reason to buy another game for my Wii U. Backlogged for now, though at least the price point is super appealing.
Pinball Breaker — I gotta see this one in action as I thought I did already once but could be mistaken. I "believe" it looked interesting and gives me an excuse (as like my Wii U) to buy another game for my 3DS. Backlogged.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker — Whatever the ultimate chapter was from the vanilla game is where I left off, as I didn't feel like "100%-ing" it, and felt I still "beat" the game enough lol. It's nice to know there's more, but I doubt I get to it. But... ya never know. Backlogged as a "played it already, but may get back to it", like SMO and LoZ:BotW)
Kirby's Adventure — A worthwhile addition to the NES App and sadly, I have dabbled, dabbled, dabbled, and dabbled, but never sat down to BEAT this once and for all. That will be corrected this weekend.
Super Mario Bros. 2 — Because I felt like mentioning it lol! This black sheep needs no intro, but there's just... "something"... about running SMB2. At the time it came out, I felt like every Mario game from then on would have Mario in an unfamiliar setting, with different game mechanics, over and over-- And then, SMB3 went back to the formula started from SMB1 . So this one will always be special to me, and I will run it this weekend in honor of it.
SUPAH MARIO BROS. TWOOOOOOOOOOOO
I have never played final fantasy IX so picked that up and obviously free Tetris 99 and I have also been using the fitness boxing demo so bought the full version of that as well.
A good week 🙂
I definitely want Steins;Gate Elite. But Steins;Gate is constantly like $10 on PSN, so I refuse to spend $60 on it
As a NSO user, the NES games and Tetris 99 are a given. I'll get the Captain Toad DLC later. Interested in Degrees of Separation and I'll possibly get Dawn of New Riders later.
As for FF IX, I'll go with PlayStation since the Store has most FF games and I have both a PS3 and PS4 as well as possible plans to get a Vita.
Come on, Commander Keen fans! The only way to get whoever has the rights to the other Keen games to release them is to show that there's a market for them. Everyone on board the Keen Dreams bandwagon!
For me, I had Tokyo School Life preloaded. Had an interest in visual novels lately so giving it a try, also, it may be fun playing a love story on Valentine's Day. Also downloaded Tetris 99, and the two NES games for Switch Online.
@Kainbrightside I'm certain we will. Hopefully more than one at a time in the future.
Its all about Commander Keen for me this week!!!
I got The Rainsedown Players a few days ago on a whim. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I usually am not picky about graphics, but this is not a pretty game. Will have to play more before deciding if it was worth the $2.
@MeloMan Strikey Sisters is also on Steam; I played it briefly, seems like a fun time. That developer (DYA Games) has a few other games out, one of which I think is outstanding: Bot Vice.
I believe Bot Vice is only on Steam currently. It would be a fantastic fit for the Switch. Hard to describe accurately, but think of a single-screen, top-town version of Sin & Punishment. Or just look up some photos. Like S&P, move and aim (somewhat) independently, flip through weapons, and dodge like there’s no tomorrow. One of those games that require constant attention, but is so gratifying in terms of challenge, variety, audiovisual aesthetics, and cheesy humor.
“Hidden gem” is easy to say and perhaps overused, but I think it’s exactly the right term for Bot Vice. Hope that the release of Strikey Sisters means that this & other DYA titles are coming later to the Switch!
(Edit) I just checked Steam, and the dev left an update stating he is indeed porting Bot Vice to Switch! Also, he is the dev for Viviette, which released on Switch a couple of months ago.
Downloaded the daemon demo, but fell asleep right after the character maker. Like Christmas as a kid... I got up super early to open stuff I was excited for but pass out again before really playing with anything 😂
Oops, had posted on the wrong side of the pond and wrong topic - coffee time 😜
played Tetris 99, it is real fun and challenging to play online against other players.
Tetris 99 and the two demos for me. Tetris 99 is really addicting
Tetris, Final Fantasy, Nekopara and Steins; Gate for me.
@nintendosage Say wut??
I'm glad Square Enix put in an option where I could max out my money at the beginning of FFIX. I'm one of those few people that hate grinding for money in a turn based RPG so this is good thing in my book. Also I'm going to wait for the Trine physical collection so I'm skipping the Trine 2 digital version.
Somehow I knew as a US customer that amazing sale Europe recently saw in the eShop would not find its way here
