@LordGeovanni I think I'm done breaking my personal rule of not arguing with people online. It never goes anywhere because both sides are too stubborn to ever change their opinions and it just keeps going in circles as a result. I hope you have a nice day.
@LordGeovanni I never said you are incapable of seeing the point. I said that the point went over your head. If I didn't think your were capable of it then I wouldn't bother commenting. As for the developer thing. I would think they would be satisfied as long as someone enjoyed their game regardless of how long they spent doing it. By your logic speedrunners are "disrespecting" the developers of the games they play. That's also not counting games that reward you for playing through them quickly.
And your point about "missing half the game" comes back to what I was saying about respecting player's times. It shouldn't be necessary to devote hundreds of hours to get the full experience out of a game. Going back to Pokemon specifically I don't see how improving quality of life for catching shinies (which are still super rare) makes you miss "half the game".
Playing a game in bursts over the course of a long time is perfectly plausible for people with busy schedules. The issue comes in when those games require more than the 70-80 hours most RPGs are in order to get the full experience. Grinding is not fun and just wastes time. Anything to reduce the amount of time grinding is a good thing in my book.
@LordGeovanni I figured my point made itself, but clearly it went over your head. Not everyone has the time to devote hundreds of hours to a game, whether it be because of school, work, kids, etc.
I also fail to see how enjoying a game in shorter bursts is somehow "disrespectful" to the developers. Whether you play a game for 5 hours or 500 shouldn't matter as long as you enjoy that time. And I don't know about you, but grinding isn't exactly what I consider a good time.
I have very mixed feelings on this. On one hand homebrew can lead to cool game mods like Project M. On the other hand it opens the floodgate for piracy which is not good. Hopefully this doesn't screw over games that normally don't have amazing sales.
Piracy typically boosts hardware sales, but kills software sales which is where console makers make their money. Here's hoping this doesn't screw over the Switch.
I would argue no. My main issues with the game are nitpicks, but they are nitpicks that affected my enjoyment of the game. None of the songs in the soundtrack stood out to me as particularly good outside of the main theme. I also don't care for the random realistic looking things in a Mario game. They just look really out of place. My last issue is simply bloat. Collecting Moons does not feel nearly as satisfying as Stars in previous games because there are just so many of them and a lot of theme are just kind of sitting there instead of being and end of pevel goal. The game is still great, but not the best Mario game.
If Sony makes another handheld I'll buy it as long as it is backwards compatible with the Vita and still has access to downloading PSP games. The PS4 not being able to play PS3 games is what kept me from buying it.
I know in theory that gyro controls are more accurate than control sticks, but I just can't seem to make it work for me. I am actually much more accurate with the point and click style of the Wiimote simply because it feels more intuitive.
I wish there was a demo for me to check out before I decide to pick this up. I'm confident I'll like the game, but I want to see how it actually feels to play on the Switch.
I think the biggest things holding Odyssey back from being the best are 2 major complaints.
1. The music. Or lack thereof. It is incredibly jarring how often I end up just sitting in silence in this game. I really hope that Zelda and Mario don't set a trend of music taking a backseat. The music of the Zelda and Mario series are some of my favorites and it would break my heart going forward if they let it just fade.
2. Moons don't feel as special to collect as Stars did. I would much rather see there be less Moons so that collecting an individual one felt like more of a achievement.
I really like Odyssey, but collecting Moons doesn't really feel like an achievement in the same way collecting Stars does. Plus the random points in the game where there is absolutely no music is really jarring.
@rushiosan I thoroughly enjoyed being able to play an officially released version of a piece of gaming history that has haunted me for years. Star Fox 2 has a lot of cool ideas.
@Thierry I have never been able to get used to gyro aiming. I wish I could, but it throws off my accuracy so much because it causes my aim to move at unexpected times.
While I want it, it will have to wait so I can save money. October is not going to be kind to my wallet because of the triple whammy of Fire Emblem Warriors, Destiny 2 PC, and Mario Odyssey in rapid succession.
For those of you freaking out about microstransactions, they are for cosmetics which can be bought off of the player shops anyway. PSO2 is perfectly playable without paying a cent. It is also relatively easy to play even without a translation.
Source: Been playing it on PC since the beta. Tons of fun.
I am totally okay with a Netflix style service. It makes things cheaper than buying them outright. And $20 a year is not bad at all given the comparative cost. I jusf hope we see more than just NES games.
I am okay with this. Loved exploring Hyrule. I just really hope that they find a more elegant solution to dealing with the story and that they have full sized dungeons alongside the mini-dungeons.
@gatorboi352 Maybe you are trolling, maybe you aren't. Regardless you are being an bootybutt. And no that has nothing to do with your "criticism". It has to do with your attitude. As for your "criticism", it isn't criticism. It is just insults because it isn't saying anything helpful.
This is good. It focuses development because they don't need to make it under a different engine, plus the Switch needs games. I back originally wanting it on Wii U, but I am more than happy that I can play it on Switch.
@TruenoGT Glad to see another fan of F-Zero X here. GX is usually the one that gets all the love. I'm definitely enjoying Fast RMX, but it is never going to replace F-Zero for me personally.
@JaxonH I just wish there was some sort of indicator that someone was actually near you. Whether it be a little arrow on the bottom of your screen or a beeping or whatever.
@TruenoGT It still runs into the other issues with Fast RMX. Namely being that the machines still have really poor handling, deaths are generally really cheap, and being rammed from behind instantly drains all your speed and generally makes you lose several places.
