Wow! I just finished telling someone on Miiverse the other day that this wouldn't happen, because they needed Xenoblade Chronicles 3D to push the New 3DS. I'm genuinely surprised!
I only just got the game on Monday and I checked a tutorial online on how to get the Link equipment and realised that it will probably be a few weeks of playing before I can get anywhere near there... and you have to complete the 3 virtues quest ~5 times for the full set! Jeez!
@Superstick Well it IS for AUS/NZ, so this is to be expected XD. I live in Auckland so it would be cool to go to this. Now it's time to unleash my ultimate double spore spammin' combo! Now if only I could be bothered/find the time to ev train my Breloom...
Some people obviously don't understand the time it would take to do even this... making custom art, a few of the 3D models, making all of the animations, applying the music and sfx, writing the code and compiling it and whatnot must take a long time.
I tried to make some test games on Unity (it's free), which was a really great idea, especially because I didn't know a thing about programming.
I just looked at the Google play store and under 'most popular games' is the likes of 'crossy road' and 'fail hard'. Unfortunatly, it appears that more people are interested in quick 2 minute games with repeated retries like runner games, etc. I'm conflicted by this because it seems to me as though Nintendo has to either make decent paid smartphone games and go by without too much attention or make a lesser quality free game which draws in heaps of people. Only thing is that these lesser quality games feed off ad revenue or in-game microtransactions, but I highly doubt Nintendo would want their games to show up with advertisements for the xbox or something, so I am almost certain that if they take this approach it will be full of microtransactions aplenty.
On the bright side, DeNA currently has 2 games in the top 35 most popluar on the Google play store, so Nintendo should be off to a good start. I wonder if the games will come out under DeNA corp's account or if a new one will be made specifically for Nintendo?
I can only hope Mighty Ape does a better job of sending the correct plates, mine are due to arrive on the 13th.
@JellySplat Got to agree with you on that one, simplicity > detail in this case.
They probably should have easily distinguishable names as 'New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plates - Majoras Mask (White)' and 'New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plates - Majoras Mask (Black)' are just too similar. They could have just called the black ones 'Zelda triforce pattern' or something, they are actually probably related closer to A Link betwen worlds rather than Majora's Mask, I don't think the triforce is really mentioned in Majora's Mask (I could be wrong). What is it with Nintendo's naming department these days?
Meh, I already have a nice USB battery called the Primate Armor which has 9000mA, two USB outputs, a built in LED torch and it is shock proof and water and dust resistant. I want to get a nice big case which could carry my New3DS,some games, my battery, my phone, some earphones and a couple of charging cables which would be very nice.
Awesome, I just pre ordered the triforce one, and I think this will look great on a white 3DS. Good to get a couple of the better faceplates over here in New Zealand!
@BlatantlyHeroic I remember playing through the battle frontier in Emerald as a 8 or 9 year old and I really REALLY loved it. I will always remeber how fun it was to go through the battle pyramid and rent pokemom at the battle factory. Maybe I didn't play through each facility long enough or something, because I never remembered it being especially hard.
Cool! This mode definately lacked in stage number, but it looks alot better now.
I swear half the time I am compelled to watch a NintendoLife youtube video is because of that super-catchy track that plays right at the end of the videos .
I will buy the New 3ds when the regular black model comes out in New Zealand, it just looks so much nicer and fits better with a wider range of cover plates.
It will be interesting to get sales figures on amiibo (Haha figures), they seem to be doing really well by the sounds of it.
My only question is if the gyro controls will be turned off when you L-target anything. I ended up turning them off in Ocarina 3D because it was annoying to run aroung while holding L as the view would slant when the 3ds was moved and it would un-center Link.
I will miss club nintendo, I did manage to get some pretty cool rewards from it (best ones being a green zelda case and a giant AR card). I hope their new programme is even better.
Also I found that their surveys were justifyed as they would have been a good source of market research assuming they actually use the data.
For those who are wondering, that is about 5288 blocks. I think I'll go for the physical, though. I am always too scared to loose my 3ds with all my download games tied to it.
Looking foward to $17 Metroid Prime Trilogy, that game has to be the best deal of my life. Coming by a copy of MPTrilogy for a semi-reasonable price is becoming extremely hard nowadays.
The character I HATE fighting in 1v1 is Sonic. His thing where he spin dashes into you and arials you into the air sucks. Luckily I can still beat them with my trusty ZSS stun-down throw-side arial combo.
@IceClimbers Xenoblade 3ds was shown off in the Austrailan Nintendo Direct, but I can't remember if it had a release date.
For a future Wii U (and possibly 3ds) update, it would be cool if you could open up say an SNES menu where it came up with a list of your SNES VC games that you could launch. The SNES menu would be a different app (the actual emulator) so when you download new VC games they would only be around 5mb or so.
Boy do I love Emerald, I have beaten it 6 times and have played for countless hours. I know that I was only alowed to play on my GBA for one hour a day, but that didn't stop me. ORAS are great remakes and I highly recommend getting a copy. I also would try find HGSS because they are also amazing.
The reason for brawl's lower vote count is because everyone either loves melee for competitive, speed or nostalgia and people who would choose brawl go for Wii U because it is much closer in terms of mechanics but beter overall in terms of roster and content (I am still sad about Snake not making it back, ah well).
By the way, next year looks amazing! I am especially looking foward to Zelda U, Splatoon and Majoura's mask 3d. I might give Xenoblade X or Xenoblade chronicles for the New 3ds a go.
For 3ds retail, I chose Pokemon ORAS, with SSB4 coming in close behind. After all, Pokemon Ruby Sapphire and Emerald are my all time favourite games (I completed Emerald 6 times), but I love me some Smash (I have over 130 hours clocked onto it, even though it released close to an exam period for me )
