Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is July's Best-Selling Switch Game In NPD Results

woah its nuts seeing so many varied opinions on which parts of each game are good and bad lol

IMO best parts of each game:
XC: Best setting, exploring the carcasses of 2 titans that killed each other with giant swords kicks ass, and the way that locations are laid out across them is cool. Shulk is prolly the most likeable protag too. Can't think of a bad voice performance in this game, probably the best voice acting quality of the series still, tho XC3 comes close

XCX: Best movement, the huge jumps are pretty fun and you get a sprint mechanic

XC2: Best overall soundtrack, the main motif they use in a bunch of tracks is really good. Also introduced the monsters dropping collectables that you can pick up without going thru a menu, nice.

XC2 Torna: Maybe best battle system? Idk its a toss up between this, XC2 and XC3 for me. The story was really nice for fleshing out Jin and Mythra, and Addam & Hugo are super likeable. Best default battle theme.

Future Connected: ermmm idk lol it's kinda just a watered down XC1, the battle music is nice tho.

XC3: Best boss music, I love dynamic music and how it hypes you up when the boss gets to low HP. Really likeable main cast. I love how they're leaning into the British stuff super hard in this one. Best customisation with team composition I think, since you can make anyone any class. Best emotional peak in the series, if you've played it you know the part I'm talking about.

Will reserve best story opinion for when the XC3 DLC story comes out.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Sports Knocks Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Off The Top Spot

@Grumblevolcano I played XCX when it came out, wasn't the biggest fan tbh because of stuff like the tonal shift with the more edgy(?) gloomy world design and soundtrack, the silent protag, and the story is a really mixed bag. So personally I'd prefer Monolith to work on something new more akin to the mainline series, I also just dunno if they can continue on from where XCX left off in an interesting way (despite the cliffhanger ending lol). If they were able to get another dev to handle the port to free up Monolith that'd be sweet tho, I'd give it another go.

That being said, my flatmate replayed XCX on an emulator recently, and holy ****, it's so much nicer to play, got a good res bump and 60fps made it feel buttery smooth. Honestly, that's the best way of preserving XCX at this point.

Re: Random: This Free Android App Transforms Your Smartphone Into A Switch Joy-Con

@MrBlacky Of course it's not gonna be anywhere near as good as using an actual joycon with physical buttons, but most of the minigames in mario party for example only use a couple of buttons or even exclusively gyro controls. Using a phone as a substitute there would be perfectly playable enough if you're short on controllers.

@SwitchForce A thousand dollars is maybe hyperbole, but a pair of joycons still costs around $140 NZD. If you're buying 8 joycons, the price is really getting up there.

Online play invites sounds fairly big? Or convenient at least.

Depends on how well implemented it is, will it launch me directly into my mate's lobby or will it only prompt me to open the game they're playing? I'll give it a geeze tonight if they have any supported software up.

Please let me invite all of my mates into a game of Splatoon without having to wait for randoms to leave the lobby!
