Re: Random: Of Course People Are Thirsty For Ganondorf In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

GoshJosh

@Ulysses No one forgot. That is why it's a double standard. You're leaving out the fact for the past 10 years there was a mass movement on how women are portrayed in media. Everyone knows both men and women objectify eachother likes horn dogs.

It's just now one side is proclaiming it's wrong while also engaging in it. I personally don't care what turns you on. However two wrongs don't make a right. If doing this to women is bad, then it's bad to do it to men too. You can't have it both ways.

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle

GoshJosh

@Mauzuri I see nothing wrong with hat. Most every other site gave BOTW a 10/10 and 9/10. Masterpiece doesn't mean it's flawless or perfect. Just it does everything great enough that anything minor is overshadowed by excellence.

In contrast, just about every review lines up with Nintendo's life on the Mario Bros. film. Maybe everyone just gives the scores they know you won't agree with for kicks.

Re: Chris Pratt Defends "The Voices" In The Mario Movie

GoshJosh

@Duncanballs I didn't generalize nor said all. I just it's well known as in, it's quite common and unsurprising. Seth Rogan just basically said he plays himself haha.

Yes, there are stand out performances, but there is just as much if not more mediocre ones.

Re: Chris Pratt Defends "The Voices" In The Mario Movie

GoshJosh

@MitchK I agree, but depending on who you are, its fair to say people have a mixed reaction.

The voice acting is just meh. That isn't really surprising. It's pretty well known A+ celebs just phone it in when it comes to animated films, and are just there for a quick paycheck.

It's why many prefer actual people in the voice acting field. It's a passion and these people give it everything they got vs Seth Rogan being Seth Rogan.

Look at a youtuber named ProZD, who's achieved his dream of voice acting. You can see the passion and love he puts into his roles.

These are the types of people I would prefer Hollywood cast because they actually care about the work.

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

GoshJosh

@ATaco it makes me wonder when gamers will finally have enough.

They've accepted gated content behind overpriced dlc

They've accepted a price increase.

They've accepted micro transactions.

They've accepted buggy games that needs a Day 1 patch and even more patches in the following weeks.

They've accept less than ten year old remasters and ported games being charged just as much as brand new titles.

They've pretty much given the go head to allow corporate to be as out of control as it wants.

I just wonder when the next system comes, will it have "missing" features you can pay to unlock?

Will the next games shoot from 80, then 90, then 100?

Will even more games be released buggy and require a week long patch that you can play on day 7?

Will micro transactions get to a point where where entire chunks of games are now locked behind a paywall. That will be 80+ dollars for the full experience please.

As easy as it is to blame corporate for alot of bad practices. Some of that blame is on the consumer as well.

Blizzard and CD Project Red has shown us all you need is good PR to solve any problem and nothing truly matters in the long run.

Ah well! Cheers!

Re: Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach

GoshJosh

@Echostory We live on a world of extremes anymore. Every reaction is the extreme reaction. There is no nuance these days. People seem to think two ideas cannot co-exist.

Princess peach can be the dainty lady she is while also being a strong warrior who can take of herself too. If she is a princess? She is fragile and weak. If she is a strong woman? Then loses her femininity and men are weak by default.

Why can't both these things be true? It would be no different than fables about noble kings who ride into battle protecting their people.

Peach could honestly do both and nothing would ruin her as a character. She can do both because this character archetype is as old as storytelling itself.

Re: Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach

GoshJosh

@Violator Honestly mate, give her a laser minigun, unlimited ammo, cheesy one liners, some 80's rock music, and I would totally be behind the idea of a battle hardened Roslina with a army of Lumas ready to chew bubblegum and kick koopa arse.

Just hope she's not out of bubblegum.

Re: Sonic Veteran Takashi Iizuka Is Taking On Executive Officer Role At Sega

GoshJosh

@S-top Sonic's best game in over 30 years is a greatest hits title. 3D Sonic couldn't compete with 2D game that was a tribute to the character. If this is what fans want then by all means keep the mediocrity coming. I'll stick to Mario.

When you have a stream of A's you're allowed to have an occasional B. That's Mario's streak ever since he entered in the the 3D sphere.

When you have nothing but C's and D's , reach an occasional B with an A being a 2D game. Then that's not a streak to be proud of. That's something to just ponder what keeps going wrong, and rather you should just give up hope.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

GoshJosh

@BrianJL The value of a game stopped being worth the price tag the moment companies started saying "Release now. Patch later."

Here's the thing. If consumers didn't get screwed over so much by corporations, I genuinely believe many of them wouldn't have problem with the price tag.

Corporations have ruined their relationship with consumers, and as such many of them are okay with giving the middle finger right back.

Re: Review: BlueRetro N64 Adapter - This Plug & Play Bluetooth Dongle Is The Perfect Match For Your NSO Pad

GoshJosh

@nomither6 I can list plenty. When I say aged poorly, I'm speaking of graphics alone, which many of them do look bad. Especially in the early days of both consoles life cycles.

I can use Nintendo as an example here. The failure of Wind Waker led to the rush production of Twilight Princess, because Nintendo felt like the cartoon style is what ruined WW.

Twilight Princess as a result is a brown game. It's an attempt in trying capture some of the hardcore gamer market that liked that color pallete.

Graphics wise, TP has aged poorly when put next to it's predecessors and successors. WW and Skyward Sword even without the HD ports still hold up graphically better than Twilight Princess. Even TP HD looks bad.

Re: Review: BlueRetro N64 Adapter - This Plug & Play Bluetooth Dongle Is The Perfect Match For Your NSO Pad

GoshJosh

@EriXz True. Many N64 games did not age well with time. I think every era will have console that was amazing for the period it was in, but outside of it not so much.

Take 360 and Ps3 for instance. Both can be praised for their graphical evolution, but at the same time many of those games have not aged well with time.

It was the brown era of games, where devs focused so much on realism that graphics look terrible by today's standards.

Re: Feature: "I'm Hugely Disappointed We Did Not Make It In Time To Get Into Smash Bros." - Yoko Taro Talks NieR:Automata On Switch

GoshJosh

@Ramen756 Ahh yes, the classic "You need to play atleast 20 hours to get to the good part!"

@tabzer One shouldn't have to purposely skip an intentional design just to enjoy an experience fully. The game failed in the gameplay department (depending on who you ask). If all that's left are visuals and a story, then Nier would have been better served in that medium aka a movie.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Bayonetta 3

GoshJosh

@Beaucine I think my issue is that she was so upset about her vision of the character, that she wanted to talk more about it's ending than the game as a whole. She quickly dashes though it all because the ending upset her more than anything.

At the end of the day people are allowed to reinterpret art. But, I also think that if the artists changes his work, we shouldn't be angry to the point of disowning him. In her case, so angry she uninstalled the game.

Just as we interpret work, so does the creator interpret his own. There's alot of works of fiction where I hated how things turned out, but I also understand it isn't my creation, it's up to the creator how his masterpiece ends.

There are games with deep political themes, but then are games where those themes comes from no place but our heads. It's not fair to blame our imaginations on the work itself.

There is Bayonetta the symbol of empowerment vs Bayonetta the symbol of a cool videogame character. If I had to choose who's right, I will go with the creator.

Re: Feature: How Do Game Developers And Artists Feel About The Rise Of AI Art?

GoshJosh

People are okay with deleting copyright right laws until it affects them. Then they whine about wanting it back.

True story. A gent I knew, hated copyright, and thought it was an obsolete idea that should be gone. That shortly changed when he found his own work being resold on various sites. After the realization kicked in, that someone was profiting on his work, he quickly changed his tune.

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

GoshJosh

You should never ask fans to boycott anything. With that said Gamers only care about getting tier fix which is why companies can pretty much screw over anybody. The game industry sucks and gamers voted with their wallets in support of it, so what does it matter? They've chosen.

A youtuber summed it nicely. Everyone is okay with BS until it personally affects them. Then they feel like calling for unity.

Re: Random: Jack Black Says Bowser Has "A Musical Side" In Mario Movie

GoshJosh

@Hajilee I'm not bashing him. In fact I agree there's really nothing from the Mario realm I can compare it to. I'm just basing it on all his past performances I've heard.

He could very well be a good Bowser, just from my ears after hearing his voice so much it's ingrained in my head. He just sounds like Jack Black haha.

Re: Random: Jack Black Says Bowser Has "A Musical Side" In Mario Movie

GoshJosh

I am wondering if people are giving Jack Black a free pass because he's Jack black or he's legitimately that good as Bowser.

Honestly, I didn't hear enough of him to give an opinion of his performance. From what I heard he sounds just okay. He just sounds like Jack Black doing Jack Black with a gruff voice.

Re: The Super Mario Bros. Movie Teaser Trailer Is Finally Here

GoshJosh

@frogopus Kinda unfair people assume Martinet would have given a bad performance based on nothing but random lines he's done over the years. Keep in mind he's doing that funny accent because that's what Nintendo wants. Doesn't mean he can't actually give Mario a more normal sounding voice while still delivering a performance.
