Re: Ouch! Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Hit With Additional $10 Million Fine

@Arawn93 Piracy was not the direct end of the PSP. You are giving pirates too much credit. Sony played a hand in it as well.

Couple of things, PSP didn't get killed as in fact had a 9 year run, selling 82mil units. There are many reasons why PSPs downfall came. Sure it's easy for Sony to claim it was 100% due to piracy, but truth is PSP just was a poor handheld.

Memory sticks were too expensive
The library of games was underwhelming
PSP wanted to be a multimedia device which never took off
It was more expensive than a DS
It had a poor battery life

DS was just a better overall deal. It was cheaper, had a better library and was more marketable.

Despite all that, PSP became the 8th best selling console. I don't know what role piracy played, but I'm reluctant to believe it was so powerful it killed the PSP alone.

@Medic_Alert Merchandise is the ultimate goal at the end of the day. Sad. But with that said they do have enough money to where they could if they truly wanted to, diverge and create something unqiue. I wouldn't mind some experimentation with the formula to see what does and doesn't work.

Risks and rewards can sometimes pay off in a big way. BOTW took a risk and changed Zelda in such dramatic fashion that it payed off big time. Becoming the highest selling Zelda game in zelda's entire history.

While playing it safe really means you aren't at risk for any failings, it can lead to serious stagnation. BOTW broke down every zelda game and rebuilt it back up, taking the best parts and tooling them even better.

@InvisiBulbasaur I agree with vote with your wallet. If more people did that alot of crap in our lives wouldn't exist. Sadly society has created a place where the more money and fame you have, the more you can get away with because no wants to ruin a good dopamine.

Cancel culture is a gimmick anymore. It's a clever trick. Say something controversial, yell cancel culture and boom you have a base ready to defend you to the death. Celebs know full well a bunch of twitter users are powerless to stop them, but hey whatever works.

@Harmonie Well, the best thing you should do is ignore it. Hollywood is the last place on earth anyone should care rather someone is a positive or negative influence.

Hollywood and to some extent people have proven profit trumps any morals given the fact the former is okay with anything as long as it doesn't tarnish potential revenue , while the latter prefers to wear blinders because that stranger on tv makes them laugh.

Just to clarify im talking about in general from what I've seen over the years.

Re: Feature: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports

@AlexHarford Well there are benefits to a remaster. I don’t agree with remastering a game that just came out the year before like on the PlayStation platform, but a remaster is a great way of updating old games and introducing them to newer audiences. A lot of the time it’s just remasters are done lazily as a quick crash grab, but a good remaster done but a company that cares is a good way to breath new life into an old title.

Re: Random: Waluigi "Invites Himself" To Super Smash Bros. In This Emotional Fan-Made Trailer

GoshJosh

@Meteoroid Exactly, out of the entire Maro lineup, Waluigi was created for one purpose, but outside of that there is nothing else to his character.

As harsh as it is, there is is just nothing there besides him being evil Luigi. Even in the trailer you can see the best moves they could come up with, is from his party game appearances.

Luigi started as a palette swap but evolved into his character with his own set of moves as well as his own series.

Wario started off as an evil Mario, but evolved into an anti-hero with his own series. Both characters have distinct traits that make them, them.

@Thatsalie Bias is always in play when reviewing something, because you are listening to a reviewers own personal take. One can be as objective as possible, but there always be a bias based on personal tastes.

With that said ,the game on metacritic is currently sitting at 76, with the majority of reviews being positive. The game is is a high 7 to a solid 8. The reviewers score lines up just fine next to the others.

Re: Feature: WayForward On BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites And Bringing Back Bailey And Baker

GoshJosh

@Old-Red How dare you insult Troy Baker! IMO he should voice every game character ever! Both male and female! He should do voice over's for every movie and tv ad for the rest of time. Not just there either. I want audible to hire him to re-record every book so far and record every book to come.

Then when he gets too old and leaves this world. I want technology to create endless clones of him, so future generations will hear his and only his voice forever.

Re: Hand-Drawn Game Guide Kickstarter Taken Down Following "Legal Trouble"

GoshJosh

@duffmmann Actually you wouldn't. It's easy to say things when you don't have an IP , it's another once you become a owner and see it from a new perspective.

Your team of lawyers would give you a full run down of IP laws and why you shouldn't just let people do whatever they choose with your IP.

The keyboard champions here think by reading small passages in the law and watching YouTube videos, they are on the same level as a real lawyer and therefore their opinions should be taken as facts.
