Re: Mini Review: Red Dead Redemption: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Update That This Epic Deserved

Ganner

Oh did I love playing this game's Switch 1 release. This game was one of those "the one(s) that got away" from back in the gap. I'm one of those guys that LOVES re-releases of any kind on the Switch (now Switch 2) era. Because of the Switch (now will be Switch 2) I've been able to enjoy so many games that I missed out on. Keep them coming!

As much as I'd like to redownload this game with the S2 update my saved file is at the point I can only play as...you know...not who's on the cover of the game. Apparently, there's no way to go back and I don't feel like starting a new game with such the backlog I have now.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th November)

@Yalloo Big fan of Alter Bridge! I have a pre ordered signed physical copy of their new album. Looking forward to it! Also, a big fan of Myles Kennedy (have all his solo records) and Mark Tremonti (have all his solo records with one of them signed). Also snagged a copy of his book "A Dying Machine" and it was actually pretty good.

Also love Myles Kennedy in Slash's band. He has so much range and seen him in Slash's band (Slash ft. MKC) multiple times. Myles is opening for Wolfgang Van Halen's band Mammoth so I'm heavily debating going to just see Myles' set next Sunday.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th November)

Just going to keep copying & pasting due to the never ending hit or miss allotted gaming time. If I can, more Hades 2 (Switch 2) and Snowrunner (Switch 2) Season 1 DLC. This weekend is looking more promising for gaming time BUT there's plenty of opportunity for any of the 'old people' to call and zap all that gaming time away. We'll see.

On a side note, the wife and I are going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra tonight to kick off the Christmas season in style. Being in huge fan of rock & metal this show is just so freaking bad@ss. Strongly recommend if the chance ever comes your way. This is my 3rd time seeing them and they never disappoint.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd November)

Ganner

Still keeping the tunnel vision on Hades 2 (Switch 2) and Snowrunner (Switch 2) Season 1 DLC on the side if there's time. My days off keep getting interrupted with extra errands which really throw that monkey wrench in gaming time. On a plus side I've slowly been able to chip at Hades 2 during the week and making better than expected progress. I'm hoping I get opportunities for long form playing sessions so I can get back on the backlog that keeps expanding...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Ganner

@Umbrius I just wanted to tell you that I've really enjoyed all your talk about your playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy. It was pretty much on par with my own playthrough. The game really hooked me in and as I was approaching the end I found myself bumming out because I just didn't want it to stop. I'm not a hardcore Harry Potter fan. Enjoyed the movies, never read the books, and living in SoCal I visit Universal Hollywood often. Just got back from Epic Universe and really enjoyed the Harry Potter area & attraction(s). It's safe to say I'm a bigger fan of Hogwarts Legacy than the main material.

Re: ICYMI: Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Release Is A Free Upgrade For Switch Owners

Ganner

I already went through this game a few games back in the backlog quest. Really, really enjoyed it from start to finish. This was another one of those games I just couldn't get around to back in the gap.

With this update I would go back and just mess around with bounties, exploring, etc. but it looks like there's no way for me to go back to playing as you know who. I have no interest playing as...well you know. It just doesn't feel the same.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Ganner

@Rainz @Burning_Spear Thanks for the support and understanding, guys. Yeah, doing anything for either her parents or my mom is such a time killer. It can be a bigger annoyance when it's an unplanned errand. Meaning either you get the call the night before a day off or on the day off right when I'm about to finally sit down and fire up the Switch 2. The phone rings with the classic opening line, "So tomorrow are you busy? I have an appointment or need this or that...". Buzzkill! The mother in-law is the worst LOL. When you go over there she adds errands. She'll be like, "We also need a Stater Bros. run and/or need stuff in the garage moved around, etc." I just see the clock ticking away for the day. My theory is she does that on purpose cause once you're there you're trapped! Luckily, my wife and I didn't move too far away.

And yeah, when you have game(s) that have their claws in you it pushes back potential completion time frames way back. That's why I have to keep that tunnel vision because if I pay too much attention to new/upcoming releases I want to play or even just the current backlog I get very stressed out.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Ganner

I'm a broken record as of late. My gaming time has been way less lately than I'd like. Damn personal life. In-laws are in the stage where they need more and more help with errands like grocery shopping, doctor appointments and whatever odds & ends throughout the week (and especially any days off). Taking up more and more of the wife and mine's time.

Anyways, back on topic when I can game I'll just keep the tunnel vision on Hades 2 (Switch 2) and Snowrunner (Switch 2). Between those two I have no time to squeeze anything else in at the moment.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th November)

Ganner

There's just too many games to play with not enough time. To keep me from going mad I've been in tunnel vision mode for Hades 2 (Switch 2) & Snowrunner Season 1 DLC (Switch 2). Those 2 games take up so much of limited available gaming time if I try to squeeze anything else in I just stress out.

I only beat Chronos twice but to mix it up I've started focusing on the surface route. Oh wow does that one get nuts. Love the game but there's just so much to it. Snowrunner is the perfect game to take a break from all the fast action of Hades 2. I've made so much progress in Season 1 but I have some major log hauling jobs coming up that I can see taking weeks to do with my gaming schedule.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st November)

Ganner

Almost forgot about this topic. Ever since I got back from Orlando a couple of days ago I'm still off time wise.

I plan on continuing in Hades 2 (Switch 2). On the plane ride home I was able to beat Chronos for the first time. As excited as I was I know that's just the tip of the iceberg for that game. I've also made big progress in Snowrunner (Switch 2) Season 1 DLC. The jobs/tasks in that map can REALLY be a pain in the @ss. However, per usual it's so satisfying when you finally figure it out...even if it takes hours of 1-2 steps forward with 1-2 steps back...

On a side note Epic Universe was dope. I was able to ride the Donkey Kong attraction "Minecart Madness" twice (once the Park opens fully it stays anywhere between 120 - 180 wait time so having early entry really pays off). Not the craziest ride ever but very fun and cute. Even my wife loved it. I unfortunately didn't get to have a meet & greet with Donkey Kong He never came out in the 3 days I was there. Team members said he was "on vacation" (I'm assuming his costume was busted or whatever).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th October)

Ganner

Well, my wife and I flew into Orlando last Thursday to do the Disney World thing followed by the Universal Epic Universe thing. So with that gaming will be put to the side some. However, I did game the whole 4.5 hour plane ride with my Switch 2.

It freaking took almost the whole flight to complete one helluva job in Snowrunner Season 1 DLC. I had to take 3 trips to transport plane wreckage from across the whole damn map going through nasty terrain. That was after taking forever to get a proper crane truck AND fuel trailer to the job site. What a game...

The last 45 minutes of the flight I played some Hades 2. I really need to keep at that game but once I load up Snowrunner I just get zoned in on doing jobs.

Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free

Ganner

@N00BiSH @ElRoberico ...MAYBE they'll drop a compilation like they did with Pikmin 1+2. Maybe.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'd call it something fancy like "Metroid Prime: Echoes of Corruption" and even throw in like a small new mission to bridge the storylines to Prime 4. That would literally be the definition of a money tree. Hey, a man could dream.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th October)

Ganner

When (or if) time permits this weekend, I'm hoping to get a longer form playing session of Hades 2 (Switch 2). Game is awesome but I've mostly only been playing it in short sessions, so it's been a slow progress.

I'm really rolling in Snowrunner (Switch 2) Season 1 DLC. The map is a real b!tch but I've surprisingly gotten a lot done. It's all about figuring out the right vehicle and route for the job. Also, with all these maps I can never get enough of the soundtracks.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th October)

Ganner

I will keep on getting deeper and deeper in Hades II (Switch 2). Now that I believe I'm playing it more accurately (breaking Hades 1 gameplay habits) I'm having A LOT more fun with it.

To take a break from all that fast action I'll continue Snowrunner (Switch 2) Season 1 DLC map. I've said it before this one is brutal! But as I explore and figure out better routes I've actually gotten a lot done! Especially opening that second garage in Imandra. That was a real pain in the @ss but so satisfying when I finally did. Also, I got the Ford 750, fully upgraded it and now use it as my primary scout. This thing is a freaking beast and looks dope while conquering the land! There's some nasty log delivery missions coming up that look to destroy me...bring it on!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles

Ganner

@PKDuckman Yeah, I honestly don't expect to ever see it on there. A man can always dream, right? It's just if you ask me point blank what SNES game(s) I'd want to not only see but to put legit hours into again, right away I think of Super Smash TV and any of the Super Star Wars games (the trilogy games). I'm realistic though in understanding those are behind some serious barriers.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)

Ganner

@TYRANACLES Yeah, I beat Ace Combat 7 earlier this year. Really LOVED that game. For me the learning curb and getting to grips with everything took more time than I thought. While it's not a full on simulator, it's not a Star Fox style game by a long shot. Once it all "clicked" for me (and unlocking better planes/gear), I was rolling. There are some missions that whooped my @ss but I enjoyed the hustle & challenge of figuring out the mission strategy. Added to that "Top Gun" style atmosphere. I think maybe one or two I had to give in to online guides to figure out the best strategy but that was after too many tries.

@kmtrain83 ...I like this weekly poll, due to the variety and overall positive attitude compared to the other articles

I'm so with you on this. I've noticed lately this site has been sneaking in more bait and/or framing articles in a way to 'wack the beehive'. There's nothing wrong about constructive criticism and/or reporting on relevant information on a subject, but it's being done in a way to make sure to 'poke the bear' in the slightest way. If you know, you know. Sad.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Teleroboxer (Virtual Boy)

Ganner

USA! USA! USA!

On a side note, if I remember correctly Teleroboxer was one of the first Virtual Boy games I played. It was the game you could play at the demo setup in Target. I really liked it. When I finally got a Virtual Boy I never got around to getting it. I think I rented it, though. The games I had were the Wario game, Red Alert, and Mario Tennis.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)

Ganner

When I can find time I plan on be all over Hades 2 (Switch 2). I'm finally starting to get better grips with it now that I feel like I'm playing it right. For the first X amount of hours I was playing it like Hades 1. As similar as they both look, play, and feel, they actually are quite different from each other. I have so many hours into Hades 1 that it was hard to drop that game's playstyle.

Also, if there's time I take a break from Hades 2 and continue the Season 1 DLC in Snowrunner (Switch). That one is a real doozy!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th September)

Ganner

Not much time for games this weekend since I'm currently on the road to Vegas. Going with the wife, brother in-law and his wife for the Bears vs Raiders game. Hopefully I make it out alive. When we get back I took a extra day off of work to recover so I plan on being all over Hades 2 as much as possible!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th September)

Ganner

While the wait is almost over for Hades 2 to dominate as my main game, I'll continue on Snowrunner (Switch) DLC Season 1 "Search & Recover". Man, this one is kicking my @ss. I was looking to get back into a snow setting and I definitely got what I bargained for (and then some). I'm really digging the challenge, so I'll be putting time into it.

I'll mostly focus on that and maybe some random stuff like a run on Hades 1 (Switch), Balatro (Switch), or Tetris 99 while I wait for Hades 2 to drop.

Re: "It Was A Bit Of A Perplexing Experience" - Hideki Kamiya On The Fan Reaction To Bayonetta 3

Ganner

Loved Bayo 3. Favorite in the series with the best gameplay that reminded me a lot of Astral Chain (which is on my Mt. Rushmore of Switch games). BUT...I hated the "multiverse" angle. Not just in Bayonetta mind you, but anything multiverse in all entertainment media. It takes away any stakes, makes retconning too easy so that you can't invest in anything that happens, and makes it all feel like a kid in a sandbox mixing all his/her toys together. I could go on and on. I do understand though why they went with that story arch. Bayo 3 was cooking during the era where anything "multiverse" was the trendy thing in mainstream entertainment media. Obviously, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th September)

Ganner

@Burning_Spear Oh it ain't a mission to 100% Snowrunner. At my pace it would take years! I just regulated that game to a endless side game if I want to lose myself in something for however long. You still have to use the brain but once you get things going you can just sit back and get to work.

I have to admit I've been very entertained with your Civilization adventures ever since you finished Balatro. Your stories always sound so edge of your seat epic. I know nothing of the game but it seems intriguing by your stories. Perhaps someday I'll add it to the "long list" backlog.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th September)

Ganner

I should be able to wrap up Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker (Switch) this weekend. What a cute, fun little game. Now knowing Hades II is around the corner I won't be starting the next backlog game for sure. Once I get my hands on that I see it being the main game for a long time.

I also finally settled on the next Snowrunner (Switch) DLC I'm going to tackle. After completing Season 9 which was based on the aftermath of wildfires, I wanted to get back to an actual snow setting so I decided on Season 1 "Search & Recover". I barely just started it, but I can already tell this one is going to be a real pain in the @ss. Bring it on!

Re: Review: NBA 2K26 (Switch 2) - Brilliant B-Ball Has A Disappointing Debut On Switch 2

Ganner

LOL here we go again (I'm sure I've said this in previous articles on here). The common denominator battle always seems to come down to 30 fps or 60 fps. We did this during the entirety of the Switch 1 lifecycle and we're doing it again. At this point I find it so insane with so many of you having other formats of playing a game why even bother with anything Switch(2)? You all should know by now what's to be expected regardless of the bells & whistles under the hood. Is the game fun? Go to town. If it sucks, then no amount of 'frames per second' will make that turd fun. It'll look pretty of course, but still a turd

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Forsaken (N64)

Ganner

Oh, hell yeah I'm going to be so biased and go all in on the NA version. That game had sooooo much mystique appeal to all us kids at school.

Remember kids, there was NO YouTube, streamers, video teasers, teaser trailers, teaser of trailers, etc. This game's existence started out in gaming mags with just pictures with paragraphs of descriptions trying to inform you of what you're seeing. It got us all pumped up of the sci-fi aesthetic and "you have total control of the movement". I could go on for days (you had to have been there). Once that first commercial hit I remember that earworm of "the future is Forsaken!" being on kids mouths all the way till launch. It launched, ran to Blockbuster, got home & plugged it in...and had a hard time trying not to puke every 7 minutes...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th September)

Ganner

With my gaming going through another time period of being so spread out, I haven't made nearly as much progress as I should be by now. Hopefully I can get back on the ball. Stupid game of "adult life" keeps derailing things. Anyways, I'm still loving Huntdown (Switch). What a game and boss fights can be really tricky but a fun challenge. I've barely touched Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker (Switch). The little I've played was fun I need to get some longer form sessions with it.

I still haven't decided on the next DLC Season I'm going to take on in Snowrunner (Switch). Been some time since I played it and I find myself missing it. That game is such a kick back and lose yourself experience. Maybe this weekend I can finally choose one and get to work!

If I have any time I may try out Forsaken (NSO). Back in the gap that game made me almost puke. I rented it a few times and really wanted to like it, but it just kept ruining me. As an adult I'm still sensitive to motion sickness so perhaps I'll sit far back in the kitchen with the game on the living room TV? Could work.

Re: Switch Online's Mature N64 App Expands With Another Title This Week

Ganner

I honestly forgot that the 'Mature' N64 app even existed.

Anyways, I believe back in the gap I was all pumped for this game. I know I rented it at least more than once for sure. However, I believe this game really made me motion sick, too. If I can stomach it (most likely I won't be able to) I would like to try again. I really wanted to be into this game but I kept getting sick so after 2 or 3 rentals I just gave it up.

Re: Talking Point: Would Drag x Drive Be Better With Miis Or Non-Mouse Control Options?

Ganner

Some of you may have already mentioned this but I'm willing to bet vital parts of my anatomy that it was intended for Drag x Drive to be a spinoff of ARMS. It would be exactly like ARMS with unique characters, designs, arenas, the whole nine yards. But because ARMS didn't hit and have that gaming cultural staying power as they hoped, they did an about-face and stripped it all down to the bare minimum. From the first time I've seen this game it gives me vibes of a "working in progress game". Reminds me a lot of that very first concept demo of the original Smash Bros. If I remember correctly, they were just colored blocky characters on an empty generic stage to showcase what the idea was.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th August)

Ganner

@Rainz @jfp Yeah, Huntdown is dope. I've only been able to play it in short sessions. Seems like the perfect game to kick back with some beers and play through These indie studios keep knocking it out of the park!

Additionally, I had a blast with Ace Combat 7! Story for me was all over the place but the missions were intense and challenging! That was one of those games where I felt some melancholy after I rolled the credits. Some games do that to me because now my invested adventure is over. Yes, I know I can always replay them but its just not the same experience. Still fun, but missing that first time factor.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th August)

Ganner

Now that I've wrapped up Bananza to my personal satisfaction, I dived headfirst back into the backlog. I started a retro inspired indie called Huntdown (Switch). For something so basic looking it's so freaking cool and fun! I've played a good number of indies in my backlog quest and every time they remind me of what's gaming all about. Just have fun. Don't need all the bells and whistles, benchmarks, etc. of the big dogs. Just make something that works and is fun.

I also picked up Captain Toads Treasure Tracker (Switch). This one has been on the list for a while and to mix things up a bit I pulled the trigger. Barely started it but I can already tell this one will be a charming game to chill with.

Re: Poll: When The Heck Is Metroid Prime 4 Actually Launching?

Ganner

Like others have said I want Prime 2 & 3 remastered (or at least thrown on the GC app) beforehand. Even though I actually owned them back the GC/Wii era I never got around to playing them (you can put a lot of blame on Aliens vs Predator 2 (PC) for that). I was all over Prime Remastered because it gave me that opportunity I missed. Please do it again, Nintendo! Here's my money! Just hook it to my veins!

Re: Square Enix Confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Runs At A "Stable" 30fps On Switch 2

Ganner

Ah, being 41 years old I've lived through the real "Console Wars" and generational leaps. History just repeats itself every time and I love seeing the reactions. Many get it in their heads the 'new thing' solves all problems of the 'old thing'. It doesn't. All I care about is: "Is the game fun?". If it is, let's go! If it sucks, then no amount of graphical enhancements can polish a turd. Just have fun!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)

Ganner

I'll try to get further into Donkey Kong Bananza. With my gaming time being all over the place and my weekends get busier with life stuff this game is taking me forever. I love it but there's so much to do and can be overwhelming that when I do get time to play I feel like I'm not making much progress. I'm sorta in a torn state. I want to start a backlog game on the side but I believe with my limited gaming time lately doing that will push back completion of Bananza even further back. Debating if I should just main Bananza so I can finish it up whenever that is. We'll see what I do.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)

Ganner

My gaming time was limited this week and may continue to be so this weekend. When I do get the chance to play I really need to focus on Donkey Kong Bananza. Having a blast but I'm being so slow with it.

I was also able to finish off Metroid Zero Mission (NSO). That game was awesome. Crossed off the backlog list! Now I'm debating just focusing on Bananza or start another backlog list game on the side. We'll see what I do.

On an unrelated to gaming note tomorrow evening I'm going to see Jerry Cantrell. LOVE his solo music and obviously big fan of all Alice in Chains catalog (yes, especially the 3 albums with the new singer). He's a dying breed of musicians from a bygone era.
