Re: Video: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of The Switch OLED Model

Ganner

I'm perfectly happy with my base Switch from 2018. I take very good care of it so it still looks and plays like new! No need to upgrade especially since most of my playing is in docked mode. Hockey season is starting so that means there will be definitely more handheld playing If anything though this OLED model makes me most excited for the the next/future Switch (i.e the inevitable "Switch 2") because at the very least it should have all these bells and whistles from the get go. If I break my current Switch or something then I'll most likely upgrade to this one.

Re: Former Mario Movie Star John Leguizamo Isn't Happy With The Casting On The New Film

Ganner

@Oddball83 Perfect perfect perfect!! The most spot on comment that I say to all this nonsense when it comes to any sort of casting.

There really is no bottom to the rabbit hole. I mean seriously I remember not long ago there was a lot of African Americans "up in arms" about Will Smith being cast as the dad in the new movie about the tennis Williams sisters. They said he's not black enough because the real dad is more on the side of the darker shade. WTF??? Dude Will Smith IS a very accomplished and well rounded black actor! That's when you know this is all nonsense.

Re: Soapbox: Wave Race 64 Is Now 25 Years Old, And It Still Rules

Ganner

Yes Wave Race 64 was yet another N64 game we got at launch (or at least very very close to it) and my brothers and I played it for like 15 hours straight on that day. We grew up going to the river and riding jet skis so it had an even bigger fun factor for us cause we all swore it was damn near a perfect simulation. As many have said I personally was a bigger fan of Blue Storm so if I HAD to choose for any kind of re-release I'd prefer Blue Storm with the Skyward Sword treatment. Take my money, Nintendo!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Week? (August 28th)

I work a lot this weekend so there won't be much time for gaming. When I can it will probably be some short Rise/MHGU sessions. I'm in the middle of the harder difficulty in Marvel UA3 The Black Order so I can keep leveling up my team. I'm dragging my feet on starting the Fantastic 4 DLC so I really need to actually get down to it. I only bought the Expansion Pass for Gambit and Punisher but it was a all or nothing deal. I'm just not a fan of the Fantastic 4

Re: It's Monster Hunter Rise x Street Fighter For 'Capcom Collab 3'

Ganner

It's a interesting concept but there's something about that trailer that seems off to me. I guess I never expected ever to see Akuma going toe to toe with monsters. I'll have to let it marinate some. Maybe I'm just too much in the boat of preferring more quest variety, monsters, etc. but that's a whole other debate in the post Rise content wars.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 14th)

Ganner

I work some of this weekend so I'll get in what I can. I got earlier in the month Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 The Black Order and I'm liking it more and more as I play it. I like my team of Wolverine, Gambit, Ghost Rider and Cyclops! I've also got in some Rise but been going back to MHGU for some challenge and lobby camaraderie. I miss that after a lot of Rise play. I feel spoiled being able to have 2 completely different monster hunter experiences for whatever style I'm in the mood for

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 31st)

@somnambulance Ghostbusters Remastered is a dream game for any real Ghostbusters fan. Not perfect but the campaign is really fun (anything above Normal difficulty makes the game a nightmare in my opinion). I just wish the multiplayer was included with the re-release. I remember reading Saber Interactive was supposed to patch in the multiplayer later on but as of now I'm confident it ain't happening

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 31st)

Ganner

My usual is bouncing back and forth between Rise and MHGU. However having almost 1500 hours into MHGU and just surpassing 400 hours into Rise I NEED to get back into tackling the backlog. I'm going to try to start with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 The Black Order this weekend. That one has been on my list since it was announced. I'm a early 90's gamer so I'm really looking forward to a old school yet modern game play experience. It's supposed to be arriving today according to UPS tracking. Not sure how much I'll be able to play though I have some errands to do and I work tomorrow.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 31st)

@Gs69 Pure Pool is really good. Just beware of the insane difficulty spike when going from "amateur" to "pro". It goes to being a lightly challenging fun pool game to just being obliterated by the comp. There will be many times where you don't even get to make a shot cause the comp just clears the table no problem.

Re: Mortal Kombat 11 Passes Twelve Million Sales Worldwide

Ganner

It's on my never ending backlog but I've been hoping for some sort of physical "komplete edition" with all (if not most) on a cartridge. I'm pretty confident now that's not going to happen.

I really got most excited for when there was rumors of a HD re-release of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. LOL I'm still holding out on that rumor because that was always THE Mortal Kombat game of all time for me. Early 90's gamer here

Re: Soapbox: Super Metroid Showed Me I Had The Right To Exist

Ganner

@Gamecuber but she felt that she had finally seen a film where a female hero kicks butt and offers no compromise

You should make your wife watch the "Alien(s)" movies. At least for sure "Alien", "Aliens", and even "Alien 3" (yeah I know its universally hated by the fans but I'm in the minority that actually liked it LOL). Skip 4 that is trash Since I was a boy the character of Ellen Ripley (played amazingly by Sigourney Weaver) was always to me the best representation of a female hero type. However, what separates her from actually being a established "super hero" or something is she transforms into the hero by her circumstances. She's terrified like everyone else. She's literally facing a horrible death from a foe(s) that is far superior in every single way. But she has the will to survive and gathers just enough bravery to do what is necessary to survive. Especially in "Aliens". She's NOT a trained marine or anything. But she's a leader with the will. She straight up takes the little weapon knowledge she has and dives into the hive to rescue a little girl she promised to protect. All the while she is so terrified but pushes through.

I can go on forever but in my opinion those movies did it best without necessarily "sticking it to the men" like many movies and TV shows do today. No politics or anything like that. Just a female character faced with the worst circumstances known to humankind with just enough will and bravery to make it through. Even if failure meant certain death (something bursting out the chest!)

Re: Capcom Outlines Plans For Monster Hunter Stories 2 Post-Launch Content

Capcom Accounting Team: "What's going to be the expense cap for the marketing?"

Capcom Executives: "Cap!? We don't need no stinking cap!"

That's exactly how I imagined it went down. Back on topic even though this style of MH isn't for me I find it awesome to see Deviants from MHGU getting some well deserved love! I'm sure the players will love it.

Re: Nintendo Reassures Us That Bayonetta 3 "Still Exists" Despite E3 No-Show

Ganner

I'm going to repost what I said in the last article about Bayonetta 3 because I feel its appropriate. Disregard if you've read it already from then.

I've said this in a previous post on the subject and I'll say it again. This is all in Nintendo's court. I'm confident by now the game is done and collecting dust on the shelf. However it's all on Nintendo to decide when to release anything about it. We all know how Nintendo can be on things like this. They're holding out till they decide its the right time. I'm confident it will be like a Metroid Dread situation. Absolutely nothing of existence but then when Nintendo says so they'll release a trailer followed by a release date within 3-6 months. I'll bet vital parts of my anatomy on that. The only difference between the 2 games is we are aware of Bayo 3's existence. I put that on Nintendo making the call to reveal its being made. Can you imagine if Dread was revealed years back like Bayo 3? All you folks would be marching with torches and pitch forks after every Direct if there was no news of it just like with Bayo 3. Just hold on Bayo 3 is coming when Nintendo says we can have it. Unfortunately this dude Hideki Kamiya is taking all the heat for Bayo 3's absence all this time and its out of his hands. I'd be frustrated as hell like him too if I had to deal with all this while Nintendo celebrates their latest new game(s) unrelated to Bayonetta. I sure hope Nintendo sends him a "Thanks for being our punching bag" pizza after its released.

Re: There's A Zelda Game & Watch Coming This Christmas

Ganner

That's a neat piece of tech to collect for Zelda fans for sure. However I'm still bothered by that dude's quote from the Direct in regards to the 35th Anniversary:

"...while we don't have any campaigns or other Nintendo Switch games planned..."

I sure hope that was meant to throw off everyone before a actual real celebration of goodies is announced.

Re: Metroid 5 Is Coming To Switch, And It's 2D

That trailer makes this game look a lot scarier than Metroid Fusion. That game very unexpectedly scared me a lot. Took me by surprise. If this is more scarier I'll definitely be more prepared Can't wait to get my hands on it so I can pause it to take a breather when scary stuff happens

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 12.0.3 Is Now Live

Ganner

Somewhere deep in Nintendo's R&D department files is the infamous "Bad Word" list they keep updating. I'm seriously dying to see this list more so than the "new" Switch iteration. I mean seriously its someone's (or a team) job to keep updating that list for future patches. What could they be!?

Re: Talking Point: How Good Are You At Games?

Ganner

My skills at games is VERY hit or miss since my childhood days. There's way too many to list specifically however right off the top of my head this game came to mind. NFL Blitz 2000 for the N64. For whatever reason I was God Tier freaking Jedi Master at that game No matter who I played (including the hardest CPU difficulty...mostly) I ruled to the point it wasn't even fun to play. I knew exactly how to control the game at any point. If I wanted to score I scored. If I wanted the ball back I could play defense better than the Chicago Bears. Sure random fumbles and interceptions would swing things some but I knew how to steer it all back to whatever I wanted. It made it really hard to find opponents after smashing any challengers back in those days so yeah it just stopped being fun because of it. Kinda ironic, eh?

Re: Celebrate Sonic's 30th With This Classic Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Funko Pop

Ganner

@MasterJay I totally understand what you're saying. I've always enjoyed having a variety of ways to represent franchises that I like. However as I said if only you could see this poor guy's desk. He has so many Funko Pops to the point that he's even been leaving some in their boxes so he can stack them on top of each other. He does look happy when he gets them as gifts but he's also the passive type so I'm not confident he'd say anything. After witnessing years of Father's Day, Birthday and Christmases of him getting them consistently I felt I should have his back and step up to say something. I mean after years of it I'm sure he just expects to receive them either from characters of a movie he likes, a TV show, sports team, etc. Again maybe its just me but I felt I just had to say something to make my girlfriend and her brother to stop relying on them and put effort into more meaningful gifts for each occasion. That's why when I received my first one I made a point to say I'm good from here on out. I'm passionate about a lot of things like movie franchises, rock & metal music, etc. but I don't want to end up with a desk/personal space full of them like her dad.

Re: Celebrate Sonic's 30th With This Classic Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Funko Pop

Ganner

I believe Funko Pops are a lazy gift to give to someone. Maybe someone's first or second Funko Pop is alright but after that I say they're a lazy way out to give to someone as a gift. They make these things for virtually everything (games, tv shows, movies, music, etc.) so there's always one if you're a fan of something. Take my girlfriend's dad for example. His freaking home desk is drowning in Funko Pops from a wide variety of categories. The guy is a fan of lot's of tv shows, movies, and music so for years every Father's Day, birthday and Christmas he was given at least 1 or 2 more. After witnessing years of this I eventually stepped in and told my girl to stop the Funko Pop gifts and put effort into getting him a decent gift.

Last year I received one from her parents as part of my Christmas gift (Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc Andre Fleury). Afterwards privately with my girlfriend I informed her to make sure this will be my last Funko Pop to receive from anyone (including her). LOL I don't want to be drowning in these things just because I'm a fan of whatever. Anybody else feel the same or is it just me and I'm a picky Grinch?

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think The "Switch Pro" Will Actually Be Called?

Ganner

As what @the4seer just said I'm rolling with Switch Plus (or Switch +). It just fits with what a lot of companies (more on the streaming services end) are using nowadays to name and market their exclusive/advanced product(s).

It also goes with my prediction that this hardware revision is still very a part of the Switch "family" (OG Switch, Switch Lite and now the inevitable upgrade). It will still be a "Switch" but with a little more bells & whistles to keep the sales rolling in while we wait a few more years till the inevitable full on Switch 2.

Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online

Ganner

Yeah there's no chance in hell that Nintendo will abandon the massive (and still growing!) Switch owner base. A hardware revision of some kind is inevitable. My guess is all will be compatible back and forth between the OG Switch and "new" Switch but for the OG Switch it will use the "new" rumored dock to be up to par with anything "new" Switch experience. That to me makes the most sense so everything is still technically (including Switch Lite) all one "family" with no segregation. It would just be the "new" Switch is a sorta 1.5 version but still the same generation. With the exception of being able to play certain game(s) with a more current generation experience if desired.

Re: Random: Nintendo Of America's President Doug Bowser Is An Extreme Dude

Ganner

If he's smart he is definitely not doing that with the 2nd in command at Nintendo. Otherwise I'd launch a full investigation to make sure the 2nd in command didn't cut his breaks or push him over a edge if something happens. Or something more discreet like encouraging him to try the trails "Dead Man's Pass" or "The Widow Maker"...

Re: Rumour: It Sounds Like A New Tony Hawk Game Might Be Happening

Ganner

Given the success of the 1+2 Remaster it doesn't surprise me the bean counters at Activision decided it might be a good idea to move forward with more Tony Hawk games. How they move forward is where you need to be careful what you wish for. The 1+2 Remaster was successful because they really put all their balls into one basket and did everything possible to recapture lightning in a bottle from the original game(s). It actually worked.

I believe now with this they're at a crossroads of sorts. Do they continue the Remaster idea with a 3+4 game and go through the mess of reacquiring the music rights, former developers etc. OR they do ride the success and make a completely new game? If they make a new game what is the probability of it falling victim to the nowadays AAA gaming sins of too much push on graphics but infested with microtransactions, bugs & glitches galore, lack of content, paywalls, DLC's, 'Season Passes', 8 different pre order bonuses from 8 different retailers, $150 "Ultimate Edition" bundles, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on. To me it's a tough gamble of what I want. I always welcome new original games and ideas BUT not at the expense of it falling victim to what seems to be happening more and more these days

Re: New Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Story Trailer Sets The Scene

Ganner

@OldMcGroin You're absolutely right. I mentioned in previous articles a month or so before Rise released that I had to take a massive step back. I over saturated myself with anything of Rise that I noticed my original hype from the time of the first trailer was pretty much all gone. It bummed me out a lot. It wasn't just what Capcom kept putting out too. I would eat up all the endless videos on YouTube of some game channels in addition. Seriously some of them milk and milk so many 5-25 minute videos weekly going over and over things from trailers and interviews. About more than a month before release I deleted the demo and shut out all of that marketing/YouTube channels to rebuild back some of the excitement I lost.
