Re: Feature: The Saddest Games On Switch - Games To Make You Cry

Ganner

Gris needs to be on there as others have said. To The Moon definitely was a gut punch. What made the sadness of that game dialed up to 11 for me was when I played it back in the day it just so happened to be right after my ex of 6 1/2 years and I broke up. I was already a wreck and so it was extra icing on the depression cake

Re: Ice Lollies And Topless Hunks Make For A Potent Combination In 'Freezer Pops'

Uhhh...this looks like one of those shovelware games that come out weekly you see on the Eshop. I'm all for whatever floats your boat however of ALL the games (or shovelware) that do come out weekly how did this one get to rise above and get it's own article?

There's so many games that come out that are ranks above shovelware that don't get any sort of peep on here. I understand it's not possible to showcase them all but...out of all to choose from...this one? Really? Right on I guess.

Re: Feature: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles On Nintendo Systems - A Half-Shell History

Ganner

I'm probably in the minority but I really liked Smash-Up. Yes it was lacking characters but as long as it had Donatello and Ralph I was happy as can be.

Being born in the 80's I definitely grew up on all those early era game(s). I probably played that dreaded water level more times I can count. Turtles in Time by far takes the cake in anything best of Turtles. Just hook this collection to my veins!!!

Work has been taking over majority of my gaming time so sticking to my commitment of clearing the backlog has been at a snail's pace. I'm keeping at it though! Just finished Mark of the Ninja Remastered on Switch. That was a surprise gem of a game. I'm now onto the next in my backlog list Red Faction Guerilla ReMarstered. Just started it but wow it has impressed me so much with its gameplay. Looking forward to getting deep with it

Re: 'Blast Brigade' Brings '80s Action Flick-Inspired Metroidvania Exploration To Switch

This looks interesting I may have to check this out. However my backlog just keeps getting bigger and bigger

@Wurstsemmel753 Yeah I've noticed that too. There's something very back and forth about that in any forms of entertainment nowadays. Meaning typically the pitchfork & torch mobs go nuts when stereotypes are utilized however when they're used in certain ways (like this example) it's ok because it's done "correctly". It's like any Hispanic character wears a sombrero and/or poncho and a Asian character knows martial arts Ah well whatever works I'm down with it all

Re: Hooray! Universal Studios Hollywood Will Be Getting Its Own Super Nintendo World

Ganner

I luckily live in Southern California and have a Universal Platinum pass. Every time I'm there I see the construction area and it makes me over the hill excited You get a good look of it on the escalators on the way down to the lower lot where it's at. I'll definitely be dropping by once that store opens. They've had a small area already of stuff and I got a dope Mario Kart shirt. Looking forward to boozing on Duff Beer while walking around Nintendo World!

Re: Monster Hunter Digital Event Takes Place Next Week

Ganner

Anyone want to take bets on how many "Digital Events" Capcom will have for Sunbreak before its official release? I'm going with the over higher number at 5. I may be exaggerating some but I'm sure there was 3-4 for Rise and like 7 for MH Stories 2.

Re: Hell Yeah! DOOM Eternal's Free Horde Mode Update Is Finally Out On Switch

Ganner

@HamatoYoshi

Yeah just like what the other guy said lowering the difficulty makes a big difference. I was a huge fan of Doom 2016 so when I started this one for about the first few missions I was having a real hard time and kinda bummed out because of it. Besides the difficulty spike I noticed there was a TON more to keep an eye on in terms of cooldowns. You got the freeze/frag grenades, the flame belch, the chainsaw and Blood Punch. All those were designed to be NEEDED during majority if not all encounters. I mean it took me awhile to catch on to the fact the chainsaw refuels itself so you can keep using it to get ammo. Before I noticed that I was always running out of ammo. I guess I was just slow on the intake and expected a more straightforward chaos like Doom 2016 was to me. Anyways I gave it time and once the game finally "clicked" I have to admit I was having a blast even more than I did with 2016.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Has Now Shipped Over 8 Million Units Worldwide

@KnightsTemplar
I've got a back log so long and I still haven't finished mario oddessy, zelda breath of the wild and dk tropical freeze to name a few.

I know what you mean MH games have always been a massive roadblock for me and the dreaded backlog. You really need to finish up Odessey and Tropical Freeze cause they're such amazing games. I just wrapped up Tropical Freeze and holy god was it such the perfect combination of fun and frustrating challenge! Worth every minute!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 15th)

Ganner

@Rainz Yeah, we'll see what happens. The Knights have such an ability to acquire and build a team of top talent however it's embarrassing at this point that it falls apart in the post season. Nothing wrong with losing I mean for all top teams the post season is brutal. However, the Knights just fall apart and can never figure out how it all went wrong after another 'amazing' regular season

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 15th)

Ganner

I just 100% DKC Tropical Freeze and jeez was that game the perfect combination of fun and frustrating challenge! There was something about it that made me keep coming back for more. Now time to move on in the backlog. I picked up the Switch version of World War Z and so far it's alright. I need more time with it to see if it "clicks" with me properly. There's definitely some fun to be had with it but over the years of oversaturation of anything zombie/horde/Coop PvE games I can see how this one is very middle road. If it doesn't "click" I'll move on in my backlog to either Switch Doom Eternal or Red Faction GW 'ReMarstered'.

Re: Mortal Kombat HD Dev Wants To Remake The OG Trilogy, But It Needs Your Support

Ganner

@SwitchForce @Specter_of-the_OLED I played the hell out of that DS game MK3 Ultimate. Loved it almost as much as MK Trilogy. However, I remember that DS game had a serious difficulty glitch or something. No matter what Tower difficulty you chose at a certain point the CPU went guns a blazin' crazy hard "I win" mode and just beat the living hell out of you. Going even as far as anticipating your moves to counter you a millisecond after pressing the damn button

Re: Capcom Is Already Preparing For Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary

Ganner

If the anniversary is going to be a game my guess it will be a game similar to how MHGU was. That game was a celebration of all the generation of MH games before World. A 'greatest hits' plus new stuff sprinkled throughout. Makes sense to me to make a game similar like that but with Rise/Sunbreak, World/Iceborne, a new game if there is one before 2024, and maybe even some Stories/Stories 2 content mix in. Sprinkle in some new stuff like they did with MHGU and wala there you have it a new game!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 4th)

@jon128 Keep at it and I promise you once you "get it" properly you'll have a hard time putting it down. Astral Chain was (and still is!) one of my all-time favorite Switch games. I'll admit though it didn't start out that way. The game may be considered a "hack & slash" however the developers want you to learn and use the complicated mechanics of the combat. There's so much to learn and do with the controls that I can easily understand if anyone has a complicated time. I strongly recommend to practice and view some YouTube videos to get a idea of all the endless things you can do. There is a lot of information buried in the options but unfortunately the game doesn't explain it enough. How to use your Legions and combos during combat can be endless and very bad@ss. For example mastering "hit rush" allows you to use 2 Legions at once so you're 3 vs 1 the enemy to death. The Beast Legion's "Howl" ability gives you a massive advantage. Like I said watch YouTube videos to get those examples. Once it "clicks" I believe you'll be hooked. It just takes a little time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 4th)

I was originally planning on starting to tackle my Switch backlog that I recently created from the Black Friday deals. However, in a very surprising twist I started playing on the N64 app Winback Covert Operations and I can't seem to put it down! This one flew under the radar back in the day (I bounced heavily between N64 & PS1 back then). I totally dig the old school janky gameplay and I'm having fun shooting badguys from cover (I'll admit though it makes a big difference being able to save anytime instead of dealing with checkpoints ). If I played this back when it released in 1999 I could totally see myself obsessing about it. Such innovation history with this game!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 27th)

Ganner

Work has been keeping me busy and my days off have also kept me so occupied with anything other than gaming lately. So much so that I'm FINALLY getting to the end of Metroid Dread (and it was a day 1 purchase!). With all these Black Friday deals going on my backlog is about to pile up again With the combination of massive discounts and a gift card I picked up for Switch World War Z, Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, and Mortal Kombat 11/Ultimate Add-On Bundle. I'll be trying very hard to tackle those for the forseeable future.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Game Ranked

@Hikingguy
Nonetheless, this is a quality selection of Genesis games. And the ordering is just fine in my book. As much as I tried, I never could quite get into Ecco.

Yeah I can relate to you about Ecco. At least in my experience Ecco was a game that virtually everybody that owned a Genesis had Ecco. It's crazy to admit but it was one of those games that I played quite a bit yet never "got into it". Yet I still played it. I'd get lost a lot doing more just swimming around and stumbling into what I'm supposed to do. Eventually I'd say "meh F this" turn it off and go at it again later in the week. Doesn't make sense but that's what I did and others I knew did the same.

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Ganner

@CharlieGirl While I do applaud your stance however I fear you may never play another video game again. Let's face it if this is a very common industry practice then Metroid Dread is barely a tip of the iceberg. I'm confident lots of your money spent on other games are guilty of the exact same thing. I'm just curious to know where do you draw the line? Not trolling I'm just wondering. Is it possibly a case of ignorance is bliss? The ol' saying of "if a tree falls in the woods..." explanation?

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Ganner

Always 2 sides to a story. As some has said this should be already known in the work contract. However I do agree that credit should be given if there is legit contributions. On another hand anyone can say they contributed to whatever. Meaning as far we know this dude could have just painted a generic background blue. I mean it is something but they could have gotten the janitor to do that. I don't know I'm sure there's a lot more to it that we may never know. It's just nowadays everyone puts it all on social media to drum up whatever "support" or "backlash". LOL the dude could have been dumped by a female artist and this is his way of getting back. Just a thought it doesn't mean jack sh#t.
