Square Enix has been gradually trickling new information for its upcoming RPG Dragon Quest Treasures, which is due to launch on December 9th, 2022.
We've previously been given a deep dive into monster recruitment and how these factor into your treasure-hunting endeavors, while an earlier update shed some more light on the game's primary protagonists, Erik and Mia.
If you're after something a bit more succinct, however, Square Enix has now released a pretty comprehensive overview trailer. It provides a decent breakdown of what the game is all about, including the benefits of monster recruitment, appraising treasures to build up your gang's overall wealth, and building up a primary base to conduct your operations.
All in all, if you're even remotely excited for Dragon Quest Treasures, we'd wager this new trailer will give you that extra nudge to chuck down a pre-order ahead of its December launch - it looks great! Check it out below:

Dragon Quest spinoffs are pretty underrated, I loved every single one that I played, probably even more than the main games.
Nice to see Mia get more screentime. She and Erik are cute in this game!
So, Erik and Mia are the only two playable hooman characters in the game ?
Btw, this is on PS5 also, right ?
Square Enix have been killing the Switch with kindness. Arguably Nintendo's best third party supporter. The SNES never got this many S-E games.
Graphically, I can't help but think this looks like a port from a 3DS or Wii game. Not necessarily bad, but just a bit... underwhelming for a brand new game.
@Magician
As a publisher they've given it an incredible amount of support.
It's too bad they've done Kingdom Hearts dirty by only doing cloud versions though, when they really should've made the effort for one of their biggest licenses.
@Anti-Matter And you also get to control or at least deploy all the monsters. Not sure how many are in the game but that alone provides a huge variety of customization.
Dang, please say you can play with your kid on the same console
... guess not. Hard pass then I'm guessing.
@gcunit Whilst I agree I do think it will look better in motion.
This has a lot of what the newest Pokemon games wished it had and I may have to pick it up in the new year.
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker on Switch please!
@Magician I know right But I think the SNES got over all better games. It feels like half of the games on the Switch are ports or remasters of old titles. and many of the others are spinoff titles.
That leaves just a few mainline adventures and new IP's.
But don't get me wrong, I love remasters and spinoff titles as well.
Also Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default II was very good.
Although the graphics aren’t cutting edge the art style is still nice. More importantly it looks fun with plenty to do. Looking forward to it along with Octopath Traveller II
@Bass_X0 I second this notion. I would love remakes or remaster of both games. Who knows if they think it's financially worth it.
I'm stoked for this. anything DQ I'm game for. just glad its getting a western release.
@gcunit lol I feel the same way, but hopefully the game play is great anyway.
Looks fun, but what on earth makes that ship a "viking ship"? Doesn't look anything like a Norse longboat.
@Dr_Luigi and on pc
Perhaps I'm being influenced by the narrator's "baby talk" cadence, but the trailer makes this look kind of like a children's game. DQ Monsters Joker 1 + 2 were really fun and I'd love to see an entry on the Switch, but I'm not sure this is it.
I'm sure it's a quality game, just doesn't look appealing at the moment, I hope I'm wrong after it releases.
Yes this seems to be a must have to me. Warm and friendly adventure atmosphere everywhere. It was a lot of fun to work with the monsters in Dragon Quest Builders 2. They can be really friendly if they try.
This will take the sting out of not getting a DQB3 for me
Can't wait, it looks super charming and addictive!
I admit it's an odd question, but I really want to know if it will have any connectivity or in game bonus for a save file of DQXI
Edit: the scene of Mia hanging upside down from her bunk bed with ponytail down but bangs pointing to the ceiling caused me mental pain and physical anxiety
Can't wait to curl up in my favorite chair and explore this game!
I love dragon quests and monster-catching games so I'm pretty excited for this one!
At first I wasn't really into DQ treasures, despite never been disappointed by DQ spinoffs like Builders or Monster, the more I see it, the more I'm interested.
@Bass_X0
DQ Monster is already confirmed to be in development but Square Enix urged fans to be patient, it's quite far from release IMO
I'm honestly taken back at how many people believe this is an "awesome" game. I love DQ, but this is a mobile game with no story and a boring loop they want us to pay 60 dollars(USD) for. Uh, no thanks. This looks at best a 29.99 game.
Calling it now, this game comes to mobile a year later with gacha added. Hell it's basically already built into the game.
Square has been giving Nintendo the much needed JRPG love this year. Definitely getting this day 1 in hopes they'll finally localize DQX for us.
Looks better than Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. I know which monster-taming experience I'd choose for later this year.
@Bobb That gravity defiance got me as well. Also, Mia sure laughs alot. "He-hee..." Is it like, a nervous tick or something?
I am a huge fan of DQ XI, but wasn't really into this until I saw this trailer. Now it's a day 1 purchase for me.
This looks like a very comfy game! Not sure I would pick it up, even though I loved DQXI. We shall see. Knowing Square Enix I can see them dropping a demo down the line which could sway me.
@SigmaNoire True, even mystery dungeon games started with dragon quest spin-off.
@phartsy
Dam, are you anything else but negative?
Brighten up, the world is a grim place as it is.
@Grail_Quest @Bobb
Gravity defiance got me good too, I then wondered if it is actually a common thing with the Toriyama style on games, but I don't know.
@Rosona if I had to guess, her bangs are probably rigged to her head for two main reasons: to save computational power by having less moving polygons and to keep her face inline with her key art at all times. The game artstyle could be said to be more minimalistic compared to current gen and the immovable bangs would rarely detract from the overall experience, you can get the sense of movement from her ponytail alone.
Of course, in a scene where she hangs upside down it looks utterly ridiculous but if that one isn't the only one scene in game, they are probably pretty rare. But that's my opinion as an amateur
@Rosona It’s just the facts. Everyone knows it. This is a mobile game they’re making us believe is a console game and they’re charging us full price. It’s insane.
