Re: Talking Point: Can Sony And Microsoft Really Compete With Nintendo In A New 'Handheld War'?

EvilSilentFrame

I think there’s enough room in the market for all of them. The Switch hybrid model was a genius move for Nintendo. They create incredible games, and now they don’t have to create for two different systems (handheld and console.) I think it will be harder for both Sony and Microsoft. I don’t think they’ll catch up to the Switch in the handheld space, but I do think there’s room for them both.

Re: Random: Some Rare Fans Are Upset About The Latest Switch Online Announcement

EvilSilentFrame

Rare replay might be something that eventually comes to Switch. Nintendo has a long history with Rare and it would make sense, but maybe Nintendo prefers to have the games come out on their Online service instead? That way it’s enticing for players to sign up, and then they don’t have to drop ALL those Rare games into the service at once. They can sprinkle them in here and there and players feel like they are getting something. I have Rare replay on my Xbox and I love it. I understand why switch players want it, but it could be a decision between Nintendo and Xbox to put them into the online service instead.

Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?

EvilSilentFrame

@Banks it’s been so long, I don’t remember what games I played. I do remember it being fun, but I think compared to today’s games, the Virtual Boy probably doesn’t hold up well. For me, it’s more of the console/headset that would hold it back more than the games. I have most of the consoles Nintendo has made, they are brilliant. The Virtual Boy for me personally was more of a miss, but glad to see some people here loved it.

Re: Best Paper Mario Games Of All Time

EvilSilentFrame

I decided to go back and replay some of these. I started with the first one from the N64. I played it on the Switch and loved it. There’s so much of it I didn’t remember. I really had a good time.

I’m currently playing Origami King, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. I’m not a fan of the sidekick Olivia. I find her quite annoying. She tries to be sweet and tries to be funny, but it’s all falling short for me. The change of combat is okay. I enjoy puzzles and lining up the enemy before the battle is a nice pace, but sometimes I just want to get it over with. Hopefully I can finish this one and not end up being bored and stopping.

I’m looking forward to replaying the Thousand Year Door. I remember really liking that one. Will be interesting to see if I place that one as my favorite to match this list. I might also pull out the Wii to play Super Paper Mario again. Its been so many years and I remember loving that one as well.

Re: Best Pikmin Games

EvilSilentFrame

Interesting list and placements of the different variations. My personal favorite is the first game. Simplistic story. No twists and turns. Just crashing on a planet and trying to track down all 30 parts. The later games lost the sense of isolation and became a bit too long. I love them all and had a great time recently with 4, but 1 will always have a special place in my heart.

Re: Soapbox: Oatchi Is The Star Of Pikmin 4, And He Deserves To Stay For Good

EvilSilentFrame

Though I like Oatchi, I find myself trying to play without him. I miss the challenge. I love traditional Pikmin. I’m grateful we got a Pikmin 4 and I’m still loving it, but I do want another traditional Pikmin. I know they were working on Pikmin 4 for awhile and even restarted a few times. I wouldn’t mind a Pikmin: lost levels of the unreleased worlds they created.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pikmin 4?

EvilSilentFrame

@Vertigoat I would agree with what the others have told you about Pikmin 4 being different from the others. One other thing I would add is this one seems to be easier than the others. Not that you’re going to rush through it all without a challenge. There are some challenging parts especially if you’re playing without trying to lose any Pikmin, but as a whole, the game is easier and feels more laid back. The other ones especially the first one, you were more pressed for time. You can take as many days as you like and the controls are much more user friendly. Try the demo out and see what you think, but I think the game really starts where the demo left off.

Re: Pikmin Timeline Story Recap - What Happened Before Pikmin 4?

EvilSilentFrame

Interesting read. I never went that far into the depth of the storylines. My favorite game in the series is the first one. Simple story, Olimar flying through space, an asteroid hits his ship and sends him crashing down on a planet. Many of the ship’s parts are lost and you have 30 days to find them all…. I didn’t need a big twisting story. It was simple and right to the point. I still love the series, but I feel like the series has lost some of the isolation feeling of being trapped on a strange planet. Sometimes less is more.

Re: Feature: Pikmin Tier List - Which Pikmin Type Is The Best?

EvilSilentFrame

It’s a bit tough to chose because it depends on the task and the game.

Pikmin 1 I used red the most. Don’t have much of a reason why, I just did.

Pikmin 2, I used purple a lot for both fighting and collecting.

Pikmin 3, purple was nerfed a bit. I used the rock Pikmin a lot to fight and the pink to collect as they moved a bit faster and could go over the water instead of around it. Yes I could use blue to go through the water but I felt the pink were faster at getting the job done.

Pikmin 4 demo, I would have loved to use the ice Pikmin but when I found out the creature you defeat shatters, I just kept a couple on hand in case I needed them for a puzzle. I used red Pikmin the most in the demo. Again no reason why. Maybe because I had the most of them?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 1st)

EvilSilentFrame

I was trying to wait for the physical copy of Pikmin 1&2…. Well, I didn’t make it. I bought it digitally. I beat Pikmin 1 yesterday. Now I’m in the early stages of Pikmin 2 and I also tested out the demo of Pikmin 4. Pikmin 4 has some impressive graphics, but I’m not sure yet I like having Oatchi. I have to give it more time. The original Pikmin is my favorite. Simple story, fun puzzles, and challenging at times.
