I'd like to imagine this NX Smash Bros will be the Wii U version combined with elements of the 3DS version, with all the DLC included. That way Sakurai and Nintendo can take a break from Smash for another few years.
This is cool to have confirmation. I never doubted the fact he worked on the game. But did anyone really have doubts when the end credits theme is literally just 'Stranger in Moscow' but faster?
The Virtual Console is a brilliant service executed as poorly as possible. Its selection and prices are weak, and its emulation is subpar. Nintendo really needs to step their game up if Virtual Console is on NX. And hopefully they won't restart again.
Hopefully when Next Level Games shows off Federation Force next, it'll be radically different. I don't want Next Level to perhaps end up like NST because of Federation Force.
Not too many games I'm super jacked for come to mind... Although Zelda will probably be good. And I'm happy the remakes of Dragon Quest VII and VIII are coming out in America. And I couldn't be any less excited for NX.
A pessimist is never disappointed. Nothing in Nintendo's near future seems like anything to be overly optimistic about. 2015 pretty much killed the emotional attachment I've had to Nintendo. Although who knows? There is always hope that 2016 still has surprises that will turn things around.
'Waah people who own PS4s don't like SNES games or difficult games or Star Wars they just play Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty!!! Stupid chads and dudebros!!' Grow up please fellas.
Why was this character customization option omitted from the English version? I just don't really get it. Who cares if you can change her bust size, or wear skimpy outfits? Is this the absolute, set-in-stone final version of the game in the west? Because if not, I hope this decision is rescinded. Censorship these days by Nintendo in video games is just absurd. People are more savvy than you'd think.
Y'know what they say, 'A pessimist is never disappointed.' Not to sound silly, but I'm no longer as emotionally attached to Nintendo so I couldn't care less if this direct is wank.
Zelda Maker doesn't seem to me as complicated as the Mario Maker devs are saying. You'd be restricted to making dungeon levels, Skins would be the original, A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds, you could put together puzzle elements with a 'condition' menu a la Warioware DIY...
This is literally the outcome I thought was least likely to happen. But fantastic! The system is a piece of video game history and I'm happy to see the two gentleman are adamant about not selling it to a private collector.
Love this style of animation and how it's closer to the games' art, but I understand why they changed it. At the time, the chibi-esque Mega Man just wouldn't have appealed to young boys.
Very strange, but interesting concept that I think is mostly in response to the social climate of Japan at the moment. Can't say I can imagine this doing well in the West. To be honest, I can't even imagine this getting released in America.
People who look at this and say, 'Why would I play a Zelda dungeon without an overarching Zelda story?' are exactly what's wrong with Zelda and Nintendo in general.
Feeling highly apathetic towards this revelation. But, it does bring something humorous to light. Plenty of people criticize the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for featuring too many remakes or 'remasters', (Uncharted, Gears of War, The Last of Us), yet Nintendo does it and people usually react with a great deal of praise. Strange, huh?
Anyone remember when this was going to come out on Wii? Yeah, it never happened. I'm pretty certain everyone who wanted to play this game already has one way or another.
Comparing Star Fox Zero to Xenoblade X is humorous on multiple levels. Xenoblade doesn't have that much marquee value compared to Star Fox. Then again, I doubt either game is going to be moving very many consoles.
Not really too familiar with Kimishima's work, but I wish him and Nintendo all the best. It'll be very interesting to see what kind of a role he plays when it comes to making appearances going forward, if he's going to have more of a public presence similar to Iwata, or if he steps back and lets Reggie or someone else do more of that kind of thing.
Does he ever see himself voicing the Mario character in a feature film, and how does he think the role would have to be changed to more suit a narrative like movie? Alternatively, 'You've said in the past you really enjoy playing the Waluigi character. Do you think Waluigi will ever get his own game? Would you like Waluigi to have a starring role in his own game?'
This roadmap infographic is pretty light on games I'm really excited for. No new Pokemon, no new Metroid and a disappointing-looking Star Fox on the horizon. Don't mean to be a downer, but, jeez...
@TheAceofMystery I'm just as big a Nintendo fan as anyone else. I just very strongly dislike DLC and wish the resources could be put elsewhere. Like new games.
Is this article a joke? Nintendo's DLC and updates get way more attention than they need to. It's like a new game got announced whenever a DLC character gets revealed for Smash. In my personal opinion, Nintendo's DLC is the same as any other company's, overpriced, intrusive and tacky.
I hope this is a sign of things to come. I hope Konami goes full mobile, and when they realize that mobile audiences don't care about them or their games, they end up dying out. They'll set an example for all the other gaming companies with messed up priorities.
At 66, I personally think Takeda is a bit too old to become president. Yamauchi retired at 75, so Takeda would probably have about a decade as president, give or take a few years.
I'm no business genius, nor am I a 'industry analyst', but if I had to throw my hat in the ring and make and educated guess as to who would be assuming the position of CEO, I'd say it's going to either be Satoru Shibata or Masahiro Sakurai. Leaning more towards Shibata.
A bunch of people have said this before, but the Zelda timeline is about as consequential as the Mario or Star Fox timeline. In fact, all the terrible 'lore' and emphasis on story makes me enjoy Zelda games less.
What's with this whole, 'give it a chance attitude'? They played a preview, which was of the final build of the game. There's no more chances to give, that's the end product. Not to mention, Nintendo Life played it for at least a week. The game, in the editor's opinion, was simply not good. No sense in defending a bad game like it's your best friend.
Nintendo should kill it. Asking money for a product based on someone else's intellectual work is not immoral, and besides that, the end product probably won't be that great, based on the first episode. If you want a more cinematic retelling of the story, read the manga.
Very very unfortunate he passed so suddenly, but not entirely unexpected... It's going to be difficult watching the cheerful puppet parts of E3 2015 over again, juxtaposed with the thought of Mr Iwata being very ill at the same time E3 was happening.
One of the greatest CEOs of all time. I don't think Nintendo is better off without him, despite what a lot of a people say. A true industry legend. Rest in peace, Mr Iwata, you deserve it more than anyone.
Seeing a lot of comments from rabid Nintendo fanboys. Like I get it, man, you love Nintendo and think anything Sony or Microsoft touch is icky and for dudebros.
