Re: Soapbox: Catching Legendary Pokémon The Old-Fashioned Way Was So Much Better

Dogorilla

While it's definitely a good thing that you don't have to go to actual real places to get mythical Pokemon any more (Pokemon Go fills that void now for people who like the real-world adventure aspect), the Mystery Gift thing is so boring. I feel absolutely no connection to the likes of Hoopa and Zeraora because all you do to get them is connect to the internet and they pop up in your box (and if you miss the availability window, tough). Why can't there be little sidequests to catch these Pokemon?

Re: Talking Point: With One Month 'Til TOTK, What's Left For You To Do In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

Dogorilla

It's possibly my favourite game ever and yet I still have shrines and sidequests left undone, as well as Trial of the Sword, riding the Lord of the Mountain, and I think there's even a fairy fountain I haven't found. I don't want to force myself to do all that in the next month so instead I'll just go back to the game and chip away at it whenever I feel like it, but I'm a bit worried it will be difficult to go back to after getting used to Tears of the Kingdom.

Re: Nintendo Badge Arcade 3DS Service Ends 'Daily Free Plays'

Dogorilla

What's the point in removing free plays? Especially if you CAN still get them from the practice catcher - I'm glad there's still a way to play it but if that's the case why not just let us get the free daily plays as well? Nintendo's decision making is just baffling sometimes.

@Plattym3 Thanks for the input, I don't mind the idea of a puzzle strategy game but I'll probably skip it. Although it's interesting how positive all the reviews are if you look at Metacritic. I suppose the online multiplayer gave it much more longevity back in the day but that's long gone now.

Re: Poll: What Other GameCube Title Deserves A '10/10' Remake Or Remaster?

Dogorilla

There are a lot of GameCube games I want to play but are really expensive to buy now, like Chibi-Robo, Kirby Air Ride, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, so I'd be happy with a simple port or remaster of any of them. But if we're talking about a full remake, I'd have to say Super Mario Sunshine. It has so much charm but it's too janky and frustrating to be consistently fun. So if Nintendo could iron out its flaws, update the graphics to Odyssey quality, and ideally throw in some new levels to sweeten the deal, it could be something genuinely special.

Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite 3DS Theme?

Dogorilla

I've never paid for a theme but got all the free and My Nintendo ones I could, and my favourite is the Breath of the Wild one. I know it's a bit of a weird choice as it's not a 3DS game, but it gives all your folders a Sheikah design and plays lovely, relaxing ambient sounds from the game.

Re: Countdown: Wii U eShop Spotlight - Pushmo World

Dogorilla

I didn't actually know this game had new mechanics other than the 'Mysterious Pullblox' mode, I never got far enough into it to find that out. It's a great game in a great series but puzzle games like this feel better suited to handhelds, and this one doesn't do anything massively different to the original game, which is why I haven't finished it. I do still go back to it and make some progress every now and then though.

By the way, @alanahagues, that My Nintendo discount isn't available any more (none of the Wii U and 3DS discounts are, sadly).

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Fire Emblem Fates

Dogorilla

I like Fire Emblem but haven't played any of the 3DS entries; I think I'm going to pass on this one though. The game being split into three separate purchases - and the existence of DLC on top of that - puts me off, so I'm just going to hope for a complete edition on Switch in the future, or maybe pick up Birthright and/or Conquest physically at some point if they don't shoot up in price too much.

Anyway, this is a good idea for an article series. I've already made a list of final eShop purchases and I don't really want to add anything more to it for the sake of my wallet, but you may end up convincing me if you highlight some hidden gems in these articles.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Switch Online Console Do You Play The Most?

Dogorilla

SNES because I often boot up Mario's Super Picross when I have a few minutes to kill. I don't have the expansion pass currently but it's starting to seem worth it now so I'll likely upgrade eventually. Not super keen on the subscription model but it does have its advantages, primarily being able to try out games I wouldn't have paid for individually.
