Nice, I've never played anything else like this game so it's cool that it's getting new content after all these years. Just a shame I probably won't be able to play it without re-buying the game, since I only have it on Wii U.
Star Fox Zero is honestly worth a look. Not everyone likes the controls but it was an attempt at using the Gamepad in a unique way, which is always worth celebrating if you ask me. And the game is cheap as chips now so you might as well see what you think of it. I've yet to play Star Fox Guard myself but I've heard that's good too.
I've never even heard of this game but this is a lovely article, it's always nice to see forgotten gems get a new wave of appreciation. Although I'm not sure why EA put 'Includes DODGEBALL' on the boxart as if that was a selling point they were desperate to get across.
I saw this on the news page earlier so opened the game for the first time in a while to do the raid, and it was worth doing for the items but I was disappointed you can't catch the Pokemon, seeing as you can normally only get one of the two without trading. And the raid battle system was a good idea but in practice they're pretty dull, I hope they're improved in Scarlet and Violet.
I don't think this game is really for me but I'm very slightly more interested now I've seen the line 'I literally know a wizard, Mickey.' I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Kate would have written as the caption for that image if it wasn't already a dialogue option.
If I have to choose just one I'll say You Will Know Our Names from Xenoblade Chronicles. Absolute banger that makes you feel like a legend even when all you're doing is waiting to activate moves on cooldown timers.
Layton is one of my absolute favourite game series and it's sad to see it fizzle out. To the developers' credit, Azran Legacy was originally supposed to be the last Layton game, and choosing to end the series after two strong trilogies was a respectable move. But the Katrielle game showed they still had an interest in continuing the overall franchise, and for all that game's faults I would have loved to see Kat's search for her father continue.
That's a real shame. I have this game and it's already difficult to find players online but it's really fun when you do find a match. At least it will still be playable offline.
I know nothing about Fist of the North Star so I don't intend to buy this but it's one of my favourite announcements from the Direct just for the absurdity of it
I was thinking of buying this game when the golf was added because I thought it would have new courses, so it's a bit disappointing it's just the same ones from Wii Sports Resort. Admittedly the new backgrounds look good and the survival mode is probably fun but when I've still got my Wii plugged in this doesn't really seem worth buying.
I'm also a little disappointed at the lack of a substantial new mode to really differentiate it from Splatoon 2, but I'm looking forward to playing the new story mode and the card game.
To be honest I'm more surprised that vinyl is above Playstation and CDs and DVDs are above Xbox. I still buy CDs and DVDs but a lot of people seem to consider them obsolete now.
I've beaten 3D World's final level on Wii U but somehow still haven't managed to finish the equivalent level in 3D Land.
From this list I've also beaten Metroid Dread, Hollow Knight, Celeste (with all strawberries and B-sides, though I'm still working on the final C-side), Tropical Freeze (100%, though not 200%) and Thumper but, like @sketchturner, Baba Is You broke my brain before I could even get close to finishing it.
If that's the case I don't get why Nintendo consistently referred to Shiver with gender-neutral pronouns in ALL languages while using gendered pronouns for other characters.
I always thought it was a smile. It's weird that they removed the beard but still used it in Smash Bros and on the Minecraft box art and stuff - I hadn't actually realised they'd got rid of it in the game.
Gen 5 has by far the best story of course but I'd say Gen 7 should be second. (Or at least the original Sun/Moon should be; IIRC they changed the storyline for the worse in the Ultra versions.) Team Skull is easily one of the best 'evil' teams.
@Not_Soos I'm a trans woman and it's not because my interests or personality would particularly be considered feminine, it's just that I feel I am innately female and I feel much happier being perceived that way than as a boy. I imagine non-binary people feel similarly except that they are neither male or female.
I can understand why it might sound nonsensical if you haven't experienced it yourself, but to my knowledge the majority of modern psychologists agree that gender is a mental function that doesn't always align with one's biological sex. And you don't have to fully understand it to respect people's identities and refer to them the way they prefer (that's not aimed at you specifically, just in general).
That's really cool! And good that Nintendo has coordinated it across various languages, unlike with Blanche from Pokemon GO (which is not technically a Nintendo game, of course) who's referred to with gender-neutral pronouns in English but female ones in several other languages.
My first game in the series was Fusion via the 3DS Ambassador Programme. I've never got massively into the series but I've now played and liked all the 2D entries in some form (the remakes in the case of 1 and 2) and definitely want to play the rest of them in the future.
As much as I love Splatoon I still haven't really seen anything to be excited about with this game. No idea why Nintendo's being so coy about big new features like the story mode with only a month to go. But hopefully it will get its own Direct soon that will put these worries to rest.
I'm glad there are so many Mario Kart Tour tracks in it, those ones are basically new to me as I've barely played Tour. I haven't bought the DLC yet though, I've just played some of the tracks from wave 1 by playing the game online (they can come up in online races as long as at least one person in the lobby has the DLC).
Reminder that if your Nintendo Account on your Switch is linked to your Wii U / 3DS, you can still add funds via the Switch and use them on Wii U / 3DS right up until the actual shutdown.
@StAmbrosius Yeah, God forbid our children play games by a company who, er, gives equal benefits to all employees regardless of relationship status. The woke brigade have gone too far this time!
There have been a few Mario Kart boxes with just a kart on a pure white background, and it really doesn't suit the chaotic nature of the series imo (Mario Kart DS has possibly the worst box art Nintendo's ever come up with). The western cover is much better here.
I've been playing DuckTales Remastered recently, which is a rare game with an elderly protagonist. And a rare game with a Scottish protagonist, now I come to think of it. Maybe best Scots should be the next list?
I liked the first game but wasn't overly excited about this at first, thinking it would just be a straight sequel. But this revamped gameplay looks really fun, and I can't wait to hear the music from that incredible trio of composers.
Glad they got that sorted, I tried playing it last night and couldn't find a game at all. Wasn't sure if it was server issues or just that nobody was playing, lol.

Re: Fandom Has Acquired GameSpot, Giant Bomb, GameFAQs, And Metacritic In $55m Deal
I just know Fandom as that company that makes every wiki really annoying to browse, so this doesn't seem like great news.

Knowing we're due for a trailer for the movie soon, that thumbnail and headline scared me for a second...

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #111 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time
I prefer Japan's cheerier turtles but I voted for the NA/EU art thanks to its crazy background.

Re: Random: Pokémon Go Fans Rally For Youngster After Failed Shiny Encounter
I like how you made a Pokemon pun on the word gloom even though there is literally a Pokemon called Gloom. 'Not all Houndoom and Gloom', surely?

Re: Back Page: How To Make Your Own Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Monster Name
I got Internet (the Frog), which sounds more like a joke character the Sonic Twitter account would come up with.
Also I think this is probably the first ever article about Xenoblade to include a Grand Designs reference.
Re: Crypt Of The Necrodancer Comes Back From The Dead With Co-Op, New Characters, And A Sequel
That's cool but this game is so hard I'm not sure if I'll ever get through all the base game's content, let alone buy DLC for it.
Re: Random: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Plenty Of Very Memeable Dialogue
It wouldn't be Xenoblade without cheesy voice lines.
