Re: Dark Souls: Remastered Won’t Feature Cross-Platform Play

Danpal65

I don't know too much about Dark Souls and honestly did not know it had an online component until now, so I am not really sure how much of an impact this will/won't have. However, this news doesn't change the fact that I'm excited to play it for the first time when it comes to Switch. Definitely a day 1 buy!

Re: Nintendo Files Patent for a 'Passive Walking Device'

@Yasaal I'm with you there. It'd be kinda cool if Nintendo can innovate in other parts of our lives outside of gaming. I feel like there was some sort of sleep monitoring device or something mentioned once, which is an area that's pretty interesting to research and would be cool to see Nintendo's take on the area.

Re: Review: DOOM (Switch)

Not getting this until Christmas, but I'm totally looking forward to playing it. In a weird way this game is a perfect fit for the Switch.

Re: Physical Version Of WWE 2K18 Requires A 24GB Download To Play

@Marios-love-child That's because the games don't play off the disc at all on PS3 an XBox because otherwise it can't access the game data fast enough due to limitations of disc media, it's basically a glorified password. The Switch doesn't have that problem because it uses cartridges, which devs like this refuse to sacrifice a couple dollars profit per unit to allow for a good user experience.

Nintendo are also masters of compression, and although audio and high res textures that these games may have so take up space, no one optimises games like Nintendo does.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Could be a combination of increased production costs (Nintendo went for the largest game card to fit the whole game?) and the fact that, compared to the European collectors edition theres probably more stuff in this one that costs more? Originally it was the game, an art book, map, and steel book case, whereas this one has all that and the CD soundtrack, and I think I read that the art book is much larger. I could be wrong though.

In the end collectors editions are a fair bit pricier than the standard retail release and it is only really supposed to attract hardcore fans that can't live without every piece of merchandise. Fortunately the game will be just as awesome no matter which edition you get

Re: Nintendo Acknowledges Iwata Tribute On Switch, But Has "Nothing To Announce"

Danpal65

I feel like maybe this might have been something that may be a bit disrespectful to talk about? The way it was placed within the Switch's firmware and wasn't talked about kinda makes me think that it was supposed to be a special token for the developers and not something for the general public to know about.
That being said, now knowing about it it is certainly a touching addition to a wonderful vision and console.

Re: Reggie on Backing Up Your Saves with the Switch

I think the biggest concern for Nintendo in regards to save data is that storing it anywhere outside of internal memory or a cloud save system means that the data can be potentially be accessed by the user and tampered with. The last thing they want is to open up the system to exploits and hacking, especially with what has been happening recently with some major 3DS titles (Pokemon Sun/Moon, Mario & Luigi).

Hopefully this will be something that they can address with their online system, or perhaps they are working on some sort of encryption solution.

Re: Bethesda Adopts "Popular Internet Saying" To Promote DOOM On Switch

Danpal65

Gotta love the irony in DOOM being one of the things cited for Nintendo not being doomed.

@Hrimfaksi It's only a year old, and some people may not have played or want to own a great game like DOOM on the Switch for its portable nature. I'm sort of in both of those camps having played it for a bit on PS4 but getting it for Switch.
