I don't know too much about Dark Souls and honestly did not know it had an online component until now, so I am not really sure how much of an impact this will/won't have. However, this news doesn't change the fact that I'm excited to play it for the first time when it comes to Switch. Definitely a day 1 buy!
I've seen some cool content from this game and it definitely seems like a fun stop-gap between now and when Smash comes out. Reckon I'd get this if it comes out before Smash
@Chandlero Sorry, I know, he was going for a different one and what he did takes huge amounts of practice and skill. It's just that he accidentally gets a different one when most people wouldn't come close to getting any on purpose. Just thought it was funny
I've bought them. They're a fun thing to have, like the Mario and Pokémon ones. I love the animation and facial expressions of all the BotW characters.
I reckon we'll see a big Switch update either on the anniversary of the full reveal in January or the launch in March that'll get My Nintendo to actually be useful for the Switch. Themes and discounts have to be coming soon
This game looks so beautiful and this music is absolutely amazing. When I first played the demo I was blown away by the sound design. The voice acting was pretty neat, but the environmental sounds and soundtrack were on a completely different level. Can't wait for this!
@Yasaal I'm with you there. It'd be kinda cool if Nintendo can innovate in other parts of our lives outside of gaming. I feel like there was some sort of sleep monitoring device or something mentioned once, which is an area that's pretty interesting to research and would be cool to see Nintendo's take on the area.
You know you've got a fantastic piece of software when it has such a high attach rate. You know you've got an excellent piece of hardware when it sells through 10 million units in less than a year. Nintendo have managed to combine the two with the Switch, which is pretty incredible.
I think it may actually too late to try and position yourself as a rival to the Switch in the handheld, and possibly in the console space now seeing as how well it's doing now. It's too late and Nintendo just dominates the handheld market.
Just a heads up to any one down under i Australia JBHIFI and Amazon Australia (which is now a thing) have the Switch for $399 as their default price so that's a pretty good deal.
Sounds like it'll be a healthy JRPG length, awesome. Really hyped for this game, but gotta wait for Christmas as the collectors edition is a gift from my folks
@mikeatron85 Lol NBN. We've supposedly had that for the past eight months. It worked for four then the copper from the node corroded into uselessness and now NBN refuses to fix it. Fun times wit dodgy connection reaching 12mbs at best on a 25mbs plan.
@Marios-love-child That's because the games don't play off the disc at all on PS3 an XBox because otherwise it can't access the game data fast enough due to limitations of disc media, it's basically a glorified password. The Switch doesn't have that problem because it uses cartridges, which devs like this refuse to sacrifice a couple dollars profit per unit to allow for a good user experience.
Nintendo are also masters of compression, and although audio and high res textures that these games may have so take up space, no one optimises games like Nintendo does.
@IceClimbers Except Capcom was involved in the creation of the Switch, getting Nintendo to give it more RAM. You'd think they'd have a reason for wanting that right?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Could be a combination of increased production costs (Nintendo went for the largest game card to fit the whole game?) and the fact that, compared to the European collectors edition theres probably more stuff in this one that costs more? Originally it was the game, an art book, map, and steel book case, whereas this one has all that and the CD soundtrack, and I think I read that the art book is much larger. I could be wrong though.
In the end collectors editions are a fair bit pricier than the standard retail release and it is only really supposed to attract hardcore fans that can't live without every piece of merchandise. Fortunately the game will be just as awesome no matter which edition you get
I feel like maybe this might have been something that may be a bit disrespectful to talk about? The way it was placed within the Switch's firmware and wasn't talked about kinda makes me think that it was supposed to be a special token for the developers and not something for the general public to know about.
That being said, now knowing about it it is certainly a touching addition to a wonderful vision and console.
I think the biggest concern for Nintendo in regards to save data is that storing it anywhere outside of internal memory or a cloud save system means that the data can be potentially be accessed by the user and tampered with. The last thing they want is to open up the system to exploits and hacking, especially with what has been happening recently with some major 3DS titles (Pokemon Sun/Moon, Mario & Luigi).
Hopefully this will be something that they can address with their online system, or perhaps they are working on some sort of encryption solution.
@Anti-Matter Unfortunately it's probably too soon for them to be trying out different colours for the Switch. They'll want to make sure it's getting along comfortably and then introduce different colours as a unique selling get point. Probably expect a white one, or other colour, this time next year.
Gotta love the irony in DOOM being one of the things cited for Nintendo not being doomed.
@Hrimfaksi It's only a year old, and some people may not have played or want to own a great game like DOOM on the Switch for its portable nature. I'm sort of in both of those camps having played it for a bit on PS4 but getting it for Switch.
Well that was one thing I didn't expect to ever see and probably won't ever unsee. I think the best medicine will be a health dose of Mario Odyssey stat.
@neufel @Paperboy @TommyTLG The GameCube controller not working thing is apparently only for third-party adaptors. The official Nintendo adaptor still works.
@JaxonH Far out. I wish I had the kind of money you do to invest in gaming. I'm struggling to scrape together money just for a few Switch games over the next few months. Consider me envious.
Nintendo seems to be doing really well in Japan. The lifetime sales of Splatoon, MK and Zelda are all pretty decent. As others have already mentioned the big one will be when Mario hits tomorrow.
@Dj64Mk7 Possibly. It certainly looks like it's rather graphically intensive, in line with mainline Animal Crossing at least. That's the cost of progress in game development I suppose, some devices have to be left behind. Unfortunately it was us this time.
@Dj64Mk7 That doesn't seem to be the case it says it supports iOS 8, it'll be the processing chip in the phone. I think the 5 has the A8 chip, but the 5s has the A9.
Being an Aussie I was excited for this, but then immediately heart broken when it turns out my iPhone is too outdated, being a 5. The earliest model that is supported is the 5s
Probably the best thing they could do for an Animal Crossing mobile game. It's funny, the wait times in the mobile game that you can pay to advance are similar to the ones in the mainline games that you can't.
As has been mentioned by others the way EA has been behaving and the "features" that they've included in Battlefront 2 I honestly would prefer this didn't come to the Switch.
