A new stage from the eagerly-awaited Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been shown off, and it's perhaps a little different from what fans of the Castlevania series might be expecting.
The level is set in a Japanese-style environment complete with subtle, chilled-out music and some particularly beautiful background detail.
No enemies or items are in place at the moment so it looks a bit bare, but at least that gives you chance to appreciate its atmosphere.
Bloodstained is due for release some time next year.

Still looking forward to it.
Well, well! Going from the Galleon Minerva to this land. The game already has the surf ‘n turf box ticked.
The level looks nice enough, but the music in particular is really rad.
Looking forward to this game. When I get paid after Christmas I reckon I'll get on that slacker backer train for a physical Switch version.
I am still excited for this game but for me it does not look good.
I hope they make some polishing because if that is close to the finished product ...
As a huge Castlevania fan I will buy it but I hope it delivers!
I feel like I am an old man, but this style of graphics just doesn't work for me. Because it is so high def and all the slopes are "realistic", it looks weird to me and I would hate to control it, because I would not be able to easily discern the slopes and background/foreground. My senses are overpowered by all of this. And I will most likely hate it, even though I don't wanna.
looks so bad
Kinda wish they'd of done this in 2D.
Probably the best of the updates I’ve seen...but doesn’t look like this one will release before 2019. Admire the patience of the backers....
amazing. the music in particular
Yeah, I don’t like that art style.
Unlike the stages shown in previous updates, this one seems to be a lot less polished art-wise. Clearly a very early build of it, I'd like to think. Music was good.
That...really doesn't look good. Very bland.
This specific level feels uninspired, but its probably just an early build..hopefully
It looks like the development of this game is going veeeeery slowly...
I'm a backer on this and do look forward to it when it comes out in 2022! For real though hopefully it gets finished next year, I love me some metroidvania style gaming in particular with the castlevania look. Hoping this turns out good in the long run.
This looks like it's going to be good, which is not how the early builds looked. Iga seems like he's actually following through on this. It's slow going, but all game development is. And the WiiU factored into lost dev time. At least he's not rushing it out the door like Inafune.....
The map itself may not look like much but it doesn't have any features or enemies or anything running so most game maps look bland that way. It looks like this demo was showing off animation, motion, lighting, etc.
I want this game. I do not care when it comes out. I know I'm getting it.
Still not released yet. Was a kickstarter around the time Yooka-Laylee was too. The kickstarter for Bloodstained didn't give me much hope. Sure the IGA is a game developing legend, but the kickstarter has so much focus on extra content and relegating a Nintendo release to a stretch goal that turned me off backing the game.
I gladly backed Yooka-Laylee and passed up on Bloodstained. It looks like I may have chosen wisely as it's getting harder and harder for Bloodstained to meet all the expected hype. However I am sure the fans will love it, no matter hoe bad it is, because the IGA. I don't think the fans are capable of properly criticing an IGA game.
Guh, this game is absolutely gorgeous. I continue to patiently wait its release. What a day that'll be.
I really wanna play this.
Another game that looks perfect for the switch. I would rather play something like this over a butchered 600p 3D port.
It is like a modern 2D handheld game - exactly what I got the Switch for.
It looks gorgeous and I can't wait to play it but, something looks slightly off. Almost as if the enviroment is the right scale but the character's a bit too big. Maybe if she was 3/4 or 2/3 scale what she is, it would fit better.?.? I don't know just a thought.
The game should come with a "tour mode" where you can just run around the levels sans enemies like this to look at the art direction in the backgrounds.
I don't understand what the "does not look good" crowd is looking at.
I want to like it but I have a feeling it's going to be less Sonic Mania and more Mighty No 9.
@Mommar
i know lol
they dont know what they are saying...

Slowly but surely. As long as things are not rushed, I'm confident it could be really nice
Like the music, hating the graphical style more with each update.
The game is looking really good. Looking forward to it.
Looks very well made, I see the Unreal Engine 4 is handle very well here.
it still lacks of something hmm...
@shonenjump86 @Kalmaro As am I. I am patient though, because...
@Pizzapasta ...another game I helped fund in 2012 (!!) is still not out, though we do get updates every few months. Two Guys SpaceVenture in case you were wondering, supposedly started alpha testing this month.
Cant wait for this game. The shimmering water on this stage looks awesome.
