Re: Swedish Retailer Updates Its Listing For Metroid Prime Trilogy On Switch, Says It's Arriving Next Month

DanTee

@RareFan you do realise the two aren't mutually exclusive? We've been having steady releases of both HD ports and new titles for the switch since launch, heck it had a brand new Mario and Zelda title within the first year, followed then by Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, so on and so on. There's definitely no creativity draught...

Not to mention we already know Prime 4 is coming, and releasing the previous 3 makes complete sense to hold people over until then.

Re: DOOM Eternal Producer Shares id's Side Of The Story After Composer Severs All Ties

DanTee

As much as I would usually default to the side of the artist rather than the mega corporation hiring them, this is a pretty comprehensive and likely series of events. As someone who has written and composed music in different forms for most of my adult life, I know exactly how it feels to have something you wrote taken and worked on by someone else, often having results that are far from what you originally intended, it can be disheartening and you often have to suck up those compromises. But ultimately that's part and parcel of working collaboratively on projects, especially when people have to step in to help you meet deadlines. Mick is an amazing writer and producer, DOOM would not be the same without his contribution and I really hope he gets to work on more soundtracks in the future!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct Mini?

DanTee

Once the big 2K dump was over, I thought it fell off the cliff a bit (although Good Job! looks hilarious), i really couldn't care less about the Pokemon expansion so the 'one last thing' moment was really anti-climatic for me. I was expecting this year to be a bit third party heavy, but I guess we'll just have to wait for their 'Not E3' presentation to see what first party stuff is coming.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Terry's November Arrival In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

DanTee

@Chunkboi79 I think if Nintendo has shown anything regarding Smash, it's that they can, and will do whatever they please. I don't think that rules him out as a possibility at all. What does rule him out for me is the weak repertoire of moves they have to pull from. Unlike Wario, Waluigi has not had his own game (that I'm aware of?) and I can't think of a single signature move/attack I'd associate with him.

Re: Rocket League Ditches Randomised Loot Boxes In Favour Of New 'Blueprint' System

DanTee

@MS7000 yea exactly! I agree, I work in teaching and have daily conversations with kids about gaming (they ridicule me for not spending money on Fortnite skins, they may have a point if I actually played it). It's worrying how indoctrinated they've become to the systems the predatory publishers put in place, the idea of just buying a game and having the full experience on disc is alien to them now.

Re: Rocket League Ditches Randomised Loot Boxes In Favour Of New 'Blueprint' System

DanTee

@Dr_Corndog Ideally I'd rather them just charge full price and include everything in the game. I'm not against DLC as a whole, but Rocket league is an international success, with it's own eSports league and big money sponsors, we're not talking about a 1 man indie developer who needs the cash (even though ironically, it's not those developers who are pushing microtranscations anyway)

Re: Video: 16 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In October

DanTee

Another financially crippling month brought to you by Nintendo!

Ghostbusters and Overwatch could definitely tempt me as I never got round to them first time, but if I don't pick up Luigi's Mansion 3 at launch I will probably be single very shortly after... so that's our Halloween plans sorted!

Re: Talking Point: Mario Kart Tour Is Certainly Dividing Opinion, But Why?

DanTee

Nintendo, I'll have a fat sack of whatever you were smoking in the meeting where you decided £5 a month was a reasonable price to unlock the gold pass.

But seriously, as far as mobile games go, it's not bad, in fact graphically it's pretty impressive. There are some interesting ideas (character specific powers especially) that I would like to see implemented into a future full fat MK title. But as most people on here will own a Switch, we're really not it's target audience, and there's no reason to pay or play when we can just pop in MK8 Deluxe. I'm sure the casual mobile market will enjoy it as a gateway into the main franchise, and more power to whoever does, but even if it was a one off purchase like Mario Run I wouldn't be interested.

Re: Gearbox Software: "Never Say Never" To Borderlands On Switch

DanTee

@Razer Rockstar and 2K are balls deep in the cash cow that is GTA online now, and the Switch doesn't have the online infrastructure at the moment to implement it properly, so I doubt they would be interested in porting it. I suppose they could do a single-player only version, which I'd be all for, but this is Take 2 we're talking about.

Re: Review: Blasphemous - A Nightmarishly Good Mix Of Metroid And Dark Souls

DanTee

@robr Yea I completely agree. Funnily enough I had another blast the other day and ignored the peak/cliff area, went into the cisterns instead and actually really enjoyed it. I'm not usually one to complain about that sort of stuff, I'm an avid Dark Souls player so I'm used to that level of challenge but it does feel like a control issue (the amount of times I fell straight through platforms because I didn't land on it the exact way the game wanted me to was infuriating). I may stretch to a 7/10 but 9 is really reaching, regardless of how beautiful it is.

Re: Review: Blasphemous - A Nightmarishly Good Mix Of Metroid And Dark Souls

DanTee

The graveyard of the peaks area is really starting to grate on me now, only a few hours in and I'm getting killed constantly by insta-death pits and dodgy platforming controls. It feels more tedious than difficult, which is a shame because on paper this game is right up my street. I will give it a few more hours, but so far, outside of the gorgeous art and design I'm not impressed.

Re: Feature: Where Does Nintendo Switch Fit In The PS5 And Xbox Project Scarlett Next-Gen War?

DanTee

'it could be argued that as long as it keeps producing games as good as Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, then the console's future is assured, irrespective of what happens elsewhere in the industry'

This sentiment all day long, I always buy Nintendo platforms for the quality 1st party titles, any ports are just an added bonus for me. I imagine a large portion of the install base will also have a PS4/Xbone/PC so they won't be missing out, I don't have any other platforms and I still don't feel disappointed with the steady stream of games coming out currently.
