I personally do not care about the censorship in terms of what the game will lack, but I don't support Nintendo's actions in terms of taking away the consumers ability to choose. I'm not a child and no child should be buying an M rated game. Adults should be able to decide for themselves. It would be nice if Nintendo would stop holding the hands of their customers outside of Japan. Here's to hoping for the resurrection of region free with the NX.
@PlywoodStick No worries, we all make mistakes and that's the best way to learn. Have you been to Japan? I actually would think Japan's arable land 'may' be increasing. No basis for this claim, only a feeling as the population shrinks. They continue to reclaim land from the ocean and effectively keep their land very clean. Japan is the cleanest place I've been to. I'm Canadian and we produce more garbage per capita than most of if not all of the world. We continue to dump raw sewage into the oceans and have a clean image only because of the mass amount of free space we have. Perception and facts are often two very different things.
In Japan, you can safely eat fish right out of Tokyo harbour and it's good. It wasn't always like that, but they've really turned their environment around in a few decades out of necessity due to lack of land and population density. Whereas countries like Canada continue to build up filth and destroy their environment on a much, much larger scale than even the media juggernaut of the Fukushima incident.
@PlywoodStick Japans population is nearly 3 times less than the US. The US is the only 1st world country whose population is increasing at a substantial rate. 126 million Japanese, over 318 million in the USA.
I don't know about the accuracy of your California statement, but I do now Japan is 4% the size of the USA and that only about 16% of this land is arable.
All companies I've ever worked for or dealt with value cheap labour over good labour. Who cares that your customers are getting bad service if that means you can buy another yacht. =)
Nintendo has shown time and again that they don't want gamers using MV to get to know other gamers and have fun in the community, they only want MV to be used to advertise their games.
That is why MV has become AdVerse to me some time ago and I've gone from an avid user in the beginning to not using it at all.
@TheLastLugia I haven't played it, but I sound in the same boat as you. When I read up about it, it sounded like street passing is important to the game and that's why I passed on it as where I live, I only get street passes when I go to Japan.
This change has nothing to do with the gamers and everything to do with Nintendo forcing the gamers to do nothing but advertise and promote their games for no compensation.
Glad I enjoyed MiiVerse when it started, but too bad I've lost touch with many interesting people due to Nintendo's mismanagement of it.
Like the cherry blossoms, the joy of MiiVerse was short and sweet.
@MitchVogel Just think about how fun it would be for training though. =) Actually getting paid to use this program. I was surprised when I tried the demo, because like I said, it's basically a copy of the training sim for new drivers. Of course in the training sim you sit in a virtual cockpit as well with physical controls, but everything else is the same.
Thank you for getting what I was saying and not taking offense to it, like so often happens on the internet. I just wanted to ensure the Japanophiles and Train otaku's weren't deterred from at least checking out the demo, because they didn't read your review carefully and only took away the negative part of your review.
Reviews are opinions. They are not meant to make your decisions for you and this is an example of this. This sim is nearly an exact replica of the train simulation used for training the drivers in Japan and you can try it if you're lucky when you're in Japan and go to the cool JR museum in Nagoya.
This game is for train fans. It's not for someone looking for a game, imo.
Thinking that video games is not about cutting edge tech is bizarre imo as tech gadgets are a space race of sorts. Who can be the first to.... I agree that cutting edge doesn't necessarily equal power, but 2.5+ year old hardware never competes with current gen in an evolution driven market. Cell phones are old tech, but no 2.5 year old cell phone can compete with the power of new cell phones from the same class. That's a fact.
All I know is that unless the NX can at the very least handle direct ports from all current gen hardware with no downgrades, I will not buy the system and this is one of those rare cases where I believe I'm in the majority.
I agree w/Mona-Reggie that software should be the focus, but I still find it very concerning if this is true because tech life cycles every 6 months or less, so the NX will be nearly 5 life cycles newer and there should be no excuse for it to be at least on par with hardware that is that much older.
If it isn't you're going to see similar issues with any non-exclusive games which have been developed for systems with much more hp.
If this is true, then it's pathetic as the PS4 will be over 2.5 years older than the NX IF the NX is released in Jul of 16.
It's not about what's needed, it's about needing to keep within touch of current technology and if the NX isn't going to even be on par with 2.5 year old tech, then it's pretty much doomed to failure unless it has an unbelievable, must have gimmick which will suck in the masses.
REGION FREE!! If I wasn't so stubborn I would just buy a Japanese version of the Nintendo consoles, but come on, if the NX isn't region free, I'll go to the platform that is.
@shani I get what you are saying, but I didn't have a post deleted, I was banned for 14 days with threat of being permanently banned. That's why I called them and wasted my time. There was no foundation or explanation of why it happened and I know my treatment is far from unique.
@shani Thank you for clarifying that. It's a touchy subject for me, because I wasted hours on the phone and through email with Nintendo of America and got nothing out of any of the reps I dealt with. It killed my fan feeling towards Nintendo, the last company I still had those feelings towards, so I fought for my rights and was treated like nothing by Nintendo and it's annoying, but I am like you in the MiiVerse doesn't mean much to me now, but it did at one time.
@shani So I'm a liar? I've been through this process so I can only conclude you're a troll who enjoys spreading lies and misinformation themselves to get some sort of perverse kicks out of it. Go back to MiiVerse and dwell among your brainless kind.
@Mona-Reggie That is crazy, but I can't even tell you what I was banned for. The admin cut and paste reason didn't apply and Nintendo wouldn't tell me or have the admin justify their actions.
Bottom line is that anyone who supports MiiVerse, supports authority that doesn't have to account for it's actions. Anyone who does that, is very foolish imo.
@night Unfortunately all we can do is not use MiiVerse and even more unfortunately, this further skews the community with people who don't get it until they are also banned.
I'm annoyed by this topic because as you can probably guess, I was banned. I called and emailed Nintendo for the entire 2 weeks and got no where except further insulted.
Be careful of who you friend is one piece of advice. I discovered a few of my 'friends' were troll reporting me for fun. I guess they have exciting lives. I've also resorted to keeping in touch with the people I really have fun with, through email etc.
I also delete older posts I've made so they can't be troll reported by people with nothing better to do.
@Phantom_R again, the words of an immature mind. Something that applies to you, does not apply to all.
I would guess that many who are banned deserve it, but those who are done so by overzealous admins feeding the reporting trolls have no way to defend themselves or over turn incorrect judgement.
Your statements only show your lack of experience of ability to listen to others. Suggesting that anyone who is banned deserves it? Unjustifiable authority loves easily manipulated people like you. Carry on.
@Phantom_R Spoken by someone who hasn't been adminned themselves? You're pretty comfy in your self righteous house on the hill.
Enjoy your time on MiiVerse until you get banned for no reason and then realize Nintendo does not care about you in the slightest.
Want to test it out? Why not post your miiverse handle in this thread and request for people to report you for no reason. It would take less than a month for you to be perma-banned.
Pathetic, but could see this coming from a mile a way. The days of developers optimizing and being wizards with code are long gone everywhere except in the house of Nintendo.
Hi, I was being sarcastic, that's why I put sarcasm after the post. Nintendo has used this pathetic veil of them watching out for children as justification for some inappropriate ways they have treated me. This is their standard line they tow when you talk to them.
I personally think it's the parents job to watch their children, not mine, yours or Nintendo's. If that's too hard for them, maybe they shouldn't have had kids. We should all be able to make our own choices on unimportant issues like this and not be restricted by companies like Nintendo pretending to care for the children when it suits them.
To me this shows Nintendo's idea of cross buy. Charge $20 for a $10 game and then say you get it free on the system you don't purchase it, lol. I guess it's a start. =)
The solution for the customer is simple, but no one is listening, reading or caring about the customer. Sell prior to manufacture and make to order. Why aren't they doing this? I'd guess they're making more money living off the scalpers. In the end, no company cares about their customers any more, it's all bottom line for shareholders and richie rich,
The only way to fix it, is to show some discipline as consumers and refuse to get sucked into believing a piece of plastic or digital code is somehow a finite resource to be valued.
No Japanese audio.... argh, I'm not sure I'm going to get this now. I cannot stand the English dub and the Japanese audio was one of the things which drew me to this game.

There are many differences between Japan and the rest of the world. Most of my preferences are better served in Japan. I was born, raised and currently live in NA, but find NA culture to be much more immature than most of the world and especially when compared to Japan. One are where Japan is very weak though, is understanding how to present themselves on the world stage. Lucky for them, that they just have to be themselves and many people in the world will like them.
All my opinions which have been developed through a fair amount of life experience.
