If they're announcing stuff, I don't much care how they do it.

Start by adding basic functionality and bringing it up to current standards. Friend list functionality, add the ability to message them, chat, add that stuff on the damn phone app onto the Switch itself. That phone app should be a supplement, not the only option. And get rid of having functions available only for certain games. Any game I join up with friends to play, I should be able to communicate with them, without suing my phone. If I have to use my phone, I may as well just call them. Stop being different just for the sake of being different.
It's sad how far behind Nintendo is when it comes to this stuff.

SNES library has some amazing games in it....and they release this instead.

Vast majority rated as 1, I don't know if I could even put together a list of 10 I'd even buy. So many are just throwaway titles that make the list quantity over quality.

@Incarna I'm not surprised. Mega Man held number 4 in spite of seemingly being largely forgotten by Capcom for a long time.

Every time this happens, it's always amusing to see how many people are ignorant of why Nintendo must do this and how many are also just waiting to pounce on and attack them for doing it.

It's made me try to think of how and where this information is actually useful (and would have been a good question to pose at the end of this article).
The only one I can think of and is probably the most known, are the GBA codes. Knowing to look for an AGS-101 instead of an AGS-001 for the backlit screen.

No, Nintendo should put some effort into a proper legacy service on their own system before doing it on smartphones.

Of the ones I can vote for, the European one has an ominous feel to it that I quite like.

Overall though, the 3DS one is the best one for me.

Japan wins this one, probably just because it's closest to how we know Mega Man to be portrayed and it has all 6 robot masters on it.
I had never actually seen that European one before. Doing Mega Man as 'realistic' doesn't really work too well, but that's a decent attempt for the era. I kind of dig it.
The NA one...well, it's so infamously bad that it's still known today. I voted based on the time they were released. Today, though I'd scoop up that NA box just for the factor of it being so bad.

Yes, they should do that. But exclusively on Switch. Dump the half-assed afterthought that is NSO and implement a full fledged retro subscription service on Switch.
Nintendo is sitting on a gold mine and refuses to do anything substantial with it.

I didn't really read the article. I clicked on it because I didn't know whether it was based on him actually leaving or not.

Anyway, Nintendo will be fine. Yes, he was a creative force and did a heck of a lot for Nintendo and its franchises, but he's also the reason we don't get some things, or the reason we have some bizarre forced gimmicks.
I think putting all the credit on him for Nintendo even in the last couple decades is a real discredit to every other creative force at Nintendo.

Scalpers are aholes that take advantage of a system that lets them do it, but they only continue to do this sort of thing because others are dumb enough to pay them the ridiculous prices.

Second screen? So begins the wild speculation. This could range from an actual on board screen like the DS, a pad like the Wii U, a display added to the dock to give info on downloads/etc, a display for a TV-only model, support for an actual VR headset, and so on. Without anything more, and given Nintendos history of doing whatever weird thing pops into their heads, this could be anything (or also nothing and just misinterpreted).

@RPGamer There were only 7 games exclusive to the 'New' 3/2DS models.
14, if you want to count the SNES VC games.
Several other games were 'enhanced' on the 'New' model, but weren't exclusive to it.

So, I can finally change jump to B and action to Y like it should be on controllers with angled buttons?

I really like these more when the covers are actually different. The RE3 one was just which had the better lighting and colours. This one is just more that they had a picture, so which one did the best with conforming that picture to the box size in each region (or cramming as much of it on there as possible as the case may be).

In this case, the Japanese one would be the original art and has more spread as it was originally designed for that box.
The NA one crammed as much of it as they could better than the European one did. I don't know why they insisted on that awful black border on so many titles.

Game development I can see being a problem from home, but rating seems like one that could easily be done at home provided you have internet.
Whatever needs to be done, though. I have such a backlog I could go without releases for years and still be playing new-to-me games.
One thing this made me think to do is I think I will go through my wishlist and over the coming weeks/months buy up the games from smaller developers to at least support them in a minor way during this time when they perhaps can't release anything new.

They're all pretty similar, so we're basically rating the fonts and lighting here.
In which case, NA wins it for me, I suppose.

I'll tune into the announcements, dev interviews and previews, but skip the 'personalities' and reactions and whatnot.

@Dringo I don't either. I sort of suspect they know it too and that had to do with Gamestop/EB Games refusal to close their doors initially.
We were heading toward them fading out anyway, albeit at much slower pace, but I'm thinking this will accelerate things quite a bit.

As a collection? Multiple collections a la Mega Man? All separate?
If done right, this would be cool, but it's hard to get excited over an unconfirmed rumour that lacks a lot of details.

European is awful.
NA and Japanese are decent, but NA wins. The way the Japanese one splits the word knuckle in two like that is hard to look at.

You know one input type is clearly superior when it's automatically labelled as cheating. Not the first time this has happened and won't be the last.

I don't understand the anti-digital comments. I get that secondhand copies won't be available, but removal from the eShop is no different than it not being available new from physical stores. And anyone who did buy it still has it and can redownload it beyond this date. It's just not for sale anymore.
And it's been available for the better part of a decade.....amazing how some people only seem to want a game the second it's announced it's being pulled, but didn't during the previous 8 years.

@NorrinRadd Same thing here. I've never tried Animal Crossing and honestly, I thought I thought it'd be a good thing to get now where my family is stuck inside the house and I think my daughters would love it. But upon hearing this, I've decided against it. Multiple copies of the same game is one thing, but multiple consoles? I'd need 3 for each of us to have our own island. What a turn off for newcomers.

Physical buying is pretty well pointless. You're almost always going to be missing something or other.

I miss print gaming magazines. I still have my old Nintendo Powers and EGMs.

I believe this comes down to one major issue for them, aside from the greed. The shut downs, quarantines and isolations are going to leave a lasting impact on some aspects of our world.
If Gamestop closes all stores now, does that mean games aren't available? No, it doesn't at all. Every game they have is still readily available on digital storefronts. People in isolation can get those same games without leaving isolation. If they close it forces all their customers to make the move to digital. If these closures last a long time, it shows many customers how unnecessary they really are.
Gamestop may not come back the same from a forced closure and I think this is what they are most afraid of.

I started watching part of that Sony thing yesterday. Couldn't watch much, it was just boring. Clearly that wasn't meant for the average gamer.
At least the numbers dump is something that Sony fanboys can run with.

I wish all Final Fantasy games were on sale. I'd love to have some 8- and 16-bit classics on Switch.

Meh, there were some much better looking 3DS editions.
The dock is kinda bland because of all the blank space. The Switch itself is the biggest thing taking away from this. The case and bezel for it should be coloured as well. The black really contrasts, and not in a good way,

@zool Nintendo stated at their investors meeting that there are no plans for new hardware in 2020. They were actually specific about that, not the usual vague statement when they're hiding something as of yet unrevealed, so that makes me think it has credence.
That doesn't mean they aren't deep into working on one, just that 2020 isn't the plan for it.

E3 was dying long before they used Corona as an excuse to stop it. Nintendo pulled back from live events in favour or premade videos, Sony pulled from it...it's just been dying a slow death for years, IMO.
Every year something is going to kill us all and Coronavirus is not as bad as what's been out there previous years and that never stopped them before.

If companies follow Nintendos suit and just release showcase videos....what are we missing out on, really? Awkward stage performances and people who look like they don't want to be there in front of those crowds? Streamers/influencers making fools of themselves?
The announcements themselves are what really mattered and the same thing can be accomplished with streaming live or premade videos. If companies see they can accomplish the same thing without flying their staff out, doing awkward on stage things, or having a set-in-stone deadline they have to have something by.....then E3 may never really be back. At least not as it once was...but it hasn't been what it was once in years. A fully digital E3 would be the logical next step for it to go.

Coronavirus is an excuse, that's all.

As far as E3 itself is concerned, I don't care if it goes away. Awkward live shows and a timetable for when companies have to show something, whether they are ready to or not. And don't even get me started on the presence of idiotic streamers and influencers perforating these types of events. Honestly, I prefer the Nintendo Direct approach. Put together a showcase video of upcoming stuff, when they are ready to do so. Higher quality show and can skip the stuff you don't care about without being bound to hours of other stuff.
E3 was a thing back before the widespread usage of the internet, because it was an outlet to showcase upcoming games where multiple media sources could report on it and spread the word. In this day and age, it simply doesn't need to exist. Streaming and premade videos can be made available to millions.

I find it crazy how many people here say they can't find Nintendo stuff. The nearest area to me with lots of shopping is a town of less than 10,000 people and you can easily find figures, plush, clothes, pillows and other bedding and other knick knacks with Nintendo stuff on it. The World of Nintendo stuff is in the toy section too, with other toys, not the electronics dept. I'll note I'm also in Atlantic Canada.

Anyway, I don't care if they get into theme parks and stuff, because it'll never be anywhere near to me. Good for them all the same, though, expanding their franchises into other places. Always good for business to get your name out there as much as possible.

It's an interesting part of gaming history. Otherwise, it's a display unit and nothing else. It's an SNES with a CD player attached. No games made for it, nothing special you can do with it.
Even as a part of history, it's no longer original as parts have been replaced with modern components, so if anything (to me) it's value is less because of it; like repainting over an old painting with modern paints and colours. Functionality didn't matter here, there's no software for it to play anyway and should have been left in it's original form, IMO.
