Nintendo has just broadcast an extended Treehouse segment from E3 2016 which focuses on Pokémon Sun And Moon, the latest in the popular series of monster-training titles.
Two new Pocket Monsters were revealed - the woodpecker Pikipek and "loitering" Yungoos:
Also shown off was an all-new battle format, dubbed Battle Royal:

These Pokemon all look very colorful and promising!
Could Yungoos evolve into Zangoose?
i can't wait to get my hands on this game
Looks like Pikipek's that wireframe Pokemon from when the games were first revealed:
I can already tell my first priority will be to catch Pikipek! He's probably gonna be the new Talonflame for this gen, especially with that Skill Link ability.
No camel pokemon....sad
@JubilifeRival actually that sounds cool. I hope you have the correct thought here
Both the new Pokemon are really cool.
@Gauchorino - Still look like a cheap cash grab with no new features?
I like the new menu and pokedex features but I'm most interested in the new Battle Royale format. Looks like a fun new layer of strategy. Looking very good all around so far.
Pikipek!
I see trouble arising from battle royal.
The game looks great and love the new battle royal format as it wiill add a bit more of strategy to the game
Yungoos, the Donald Trump Pokemon...
@Bass_X0 Beaten to it!
Yungoos made me recoil a bit at first when I saw the artwork but in-game it actually looks sorta cute in a way...lol
Pikipek doesn't look all that special but we'll see I guess.
I like all the Pokemon designs here! It's a shame this is all we got, though. I came to the live-stream over an hour late, so if there was more information or they're going to be showing more later, someone fill me in.
Can't wait until Sun/Moon!
EDIT: I just found out I can rewind the live-stream and I just found game-play footage!
Yungoos looks awesome! Pikipek..nah I'm tired of this early bird stuff
E3 sale start yet? Nintnedo game website has slowed to a crawl.

Edit - E3 sale is up.

Yungoos looks nice, and I can certainly relate to this angry-when-hungry creature. More importantly for me is the introduction of the first gen 7 bug Pokémon; Grubbin. I really like the look of fellow, and it's description hints at it becoming either a Bug/Ground or Bug/Electric. As fan of Ground types, the former would be very pleasing for me.
I'm surprised the article doesn't directly mention Grubbin, though it is shown in the trailer. I love the new designs, especially Pikipek. I'm curious as to what its evolutions look like.
Sun/Moon can't come soon enough!
@JubilifeRival It's very possible. Yungoos is a species brought from another region to help control the Pokemon population. The only issue, it has a new ability. Then again, that ability could switch when it evolves.
@TheNomad Numel and Camerupt. You're welcome.
This is some cool info, but as I said on the other Sun and Moon article, please can you censor the new designs?
@LordGeovanni @JubilifeRival it would be impossible for it to evolve into zangoose firstly neither having abilities in common and 2 not even looking anywhere close to each other and the fact the new Pokémon has such sharp teeth points to it evolving into something much more terrifying then a zangoose.
Love Pikipek and Grubbin! Yungoos is taking a little more warming too but I'm always glad to see more weasel/ferret/stoat/mongoose Pokémon
@edgedino not impossible, but I agree unlikely. I mean there are Pokémon that look less like their evolved forms out there (Clampearl, Magikarp, Remoraid) and we don't know that Zangoose, or indeed the abilities structure as it currently stands, won't be updated for Sun & Moon.
I hope it's something entirely new though
@edgedino Abilities can change, Pokemon don't have to look like their evolutions.
Plus, Yungoos is based off of the event with the Hawaiin mongoose population:

Hopefully there's some checks and balances on the free for all battle royale, wouldn't the most dangerous pokemon get triple teamed on? Or, is the strat to be the last pokemon standing to pick something weak and defenseless (looking) and then sneak a win at the end? Better start training that lv100 Magikarp ;p
Or, lv99 is probably a better bet
@TheNomad
Did you forget Camerupt already exists?
This game looks beautiful and the pokemon designs are great.
Can't wait
@edgedino venonat and metapod look nothing like what they evolve into, magicarp is also a stretch, and don't forget dragonair
@CosmoXY You really need to stop tagging me in articles that I haven't commented in. I know you're bothered by what I'd said (about something unrelated to your person) from before, but a random comment section is not the place to deal with that. If you think you're impressing others by "dissing me", that's your prerogative, but it's also mine to report you if you continue to harrass me irrelevantly.
As for this article, I am glad to see some new features and Pokémon announced, but nothing interesting enough to be game-changing. That's my personal opinion at the moment, and it is subject to change as it always been, and I hope further announcements cause it to do so.
@Kalmaro ik this but its the fact this new pokemon is designed to do biting not slashing and as for those pokemon metapod line is designed as a butterfly so it would make sence, same with venonat turning into a moth, and magikarp there was something about its evolution being its true form or something like that. dragonair i got nothing for lol so i guess the legends of snakes becoming dragons.
Loving how Grubbin looks, it looks like it has a lot of potential and it's cute. Hopefully it'll be more like Venipede than Caterpie.
@Gauchorino Calm down, I didn't mean to "harass" you and I'm not sure what you think I'm bothered about. I just wanted to get your impressions on this latest update, since you were the one that was able to determine that it looked like a cash grab with no new features after the first two minute trailer was released. I'm not worried about "impressing others," what a weird thing to say.
On topic, it was clear after watching the Treehouse interview with the GameFreak team that there are more secrets yet to be revealed. I hope they save some for players to discover on their own! It seems that they've put a lot of effort into delivering a compelling new entry in the series.
So, the count stands at 22 known-to-exist Pokemon, and 11 revealed Pokemon. Personally, I think we're getting 100 new ones.
I wonder if this Pokemon game will run on full 3D camera angle for town view. I'm not a Pokemon fan but the landscape is somewhat captivated me. Profesor Kukui somewhat looks hot, just like people hype. If there is some previous Pokemon like Sawk (Karate Pokemon) maybe i'll take a look again.
I do hope they improve upon the plot, as X and Y's left much to be desired.
