Pokémon Sun and Moon has had a little extra attention during E3, and fans in Japan have received a bit of additional good news - two Special Edition New Nintendo 3DS LL (XL) models have been revealed for a Japanese release on 18th November.
Though neither of the models will come with Sun or Moon pre-installed, they do celebrate the upcoming games and will arrive on the same release date. The black model features new Legendary Pokémon Solagaleo and Lunala, while the other shows off Pikachu.

Pre-ordered the black one from Play-Asia. Will be nice to play my Japanese copies of the games on. Now to hope we get something nice for NA as well

Why don't they come preloaded with the game featured? That may incline me to pick one up but as things are no!!

The Pikachu New Nintendo 3DS XL has the same style face buttons as the smaller New Nintendo 3DS.

Those are both really neat. I waited in line to get my majoras mask 3ds but I wouldn't for these two. If they are a little easier to get then I might get one, but I really don't need another 3ds, I'd feel kind of greedy.
I want that Pikachu edition. I'll dump my small version in a heartbeat if it makes it to the states.

Nintendo should released Pokemon themes for New 3DS XL, not just Pikachu only. So there will be Red, Green, Aqua, Indigo, Purple, Orange color for New 3DS XL.
I keep telling myself that I'm so over Pikachu, but bloody hell, I want that sweet New 3DS XL…
But I don't trust these as the cheap decal on my Monster Hunter 4 N3DSXL started peeling off within a couple of months of use. (and I very much doubt that Nintendo would be able to offer replacements on limited edition merchandise)
@sillygostly All first generation of new 3ds xl has this problem, it was a big deal to me when I was trying to sell my red one to buy the Fire Emblem Limited Edition.

I like that black one, but I've been hoping for a Pokemon Sun/Moon themed smaller version New 3DS.
@sillygostly Well I can't confirm 100% but I can say that my Fire Emblem edition (which is fairly recent model) my girlfriend's one (which was bought 2 months ago), are better in every sense than the model that I bought in the release month. The buttons are more tight and the paint looks, so far, better and more resistant.
@Frank90 Just go and buy the FE edition N3DSXL. Its not a decal. Hard to explain it but its something like... laser etching into the plastic even though the plastic is completely smooth
