This article is in commemoration of exactly a year of TOTK yet Alana beat it “over a year ago“? Even if it was received a week or so early for review, it still sounds like a rushed play through.
My first Paper Mario game was Origami King, so never played this before, so am interested. Am sure the fact that it is 30fps won’t bother me. HOWEVER, I do find it a bit frustrating that a console from over 20 years ago could run it at 60fps but the switch can’t. Before anyone comes at me and says ‘what about all the graphical bells and whistles etc’, to which I would say:- “Well, yes, fine I accept the graphics etc are negligibly better but so they should be. Considering the switch ought to be multiple times more powerful/competent than the GameCube, the fps should be at least on par with the gc version, along with the resolution etc boost”. IMO.
Apart from my usual gaming habits I have a bunch of Pokemon to move from Sun>Bank>Home, then some possibly to Scarlet. If there’s anyone else in the same boat as me, you have until Monday, people!
I can’t say exclamation marks in game titles bothers me at all if I’m honest and most of the examples you gave, the exclamation marks worked with imo.
Not an expert but In Japanese written culture, exclamation marks seem to be used quite often, especially in emphasis. Most of the examples of games given in that article originated in Japan, so the emphasis worked imo. Exclamation marks in titles seems a very Japanese thing to me, so most of those titles looked deserving of exclamation marks!
Like so many others here, pretty baffled by those results. Not so much about the top 4 more about some of the inclusions. No Donkey Kong, Kirby or mega man? They definitely deserve to be on the list more than some of their picks!
Anyway, as asked, my top 5 gaming characters:-
1.Hitmonlee (Pokemon)
2.Chibi Robo (Chibi Robo)
3.Jimmy T. (Wario ware)
4.Tom the cat (Animal crossing)
5. Waluigi (Waaahaahaa!)
More shameless plugs for PS5 games, this time including convenient links to push square. There, I can see if the reverse is true and of course it’s not. Very handy. Now, hmm I wonder why some of the writers here have such an obsession with Sony/ PlayStation?
Just the game, along with the graphical updates and whatever QOL improvements etc. New gaming content would be nice too. As for the other stuff, if I had interest in it, I would seek it through other mediums.
@Daniel36 I have it on Switch. It was given to me as a present with all the dlc. I’m not sure if the “giver” paid extra for the dlc but I somehow doubt it. The game is absolutely excellent. I 100%’d it without spending even 1 penny and I wasn’t even aware of any monetisation. Am glad to see it in top 40, as far as I’m concerned it deserves every sale it gets!
How many non-collectors are going to buy at that price? It’s not worth it unless the badge or notebook is really yearned for. Most people I’m sure will order it elsewhere and get it a tenner cheaper. There are plenty of good options in the UK
It’s a good game, I can recommend. I’m a massive fan of rune factory and whilst I don’t prefer fae farm over it, the free game trial was enough to convert me into a customer.
Yeh, Nintendo should just sue these people for copyright breach. There’s been barely any effort on the part of the developers to even bother trying to differentiate between their rip off monsters and the real Pokemon. What’s the point of Nintendo going to all the time, effort and expense of trademarking all the Pokemon if they’re not even going to try and enforce it?
Going to say something completely left field with Chibi Robo park patrol. The most charming game I’ve ever come across. Also would love to go in blind on OG Chibi Robo. Also Pokemon b/w2. I would use a completely different team. I’d also love to forget and replay r racer evolution (gc) and wreckfest. Also, for obvious reasons, BOTW and TOTK.
I’m actually not sure about Mario and Luigi atm. I feel like the jury’s still out. However, I’ve played a fair amount of the new Wario ware and really like the new take on Warios voice!
I mean, I don’t usually moan about the graphical or performance issues but there’s an area in the dlc where the frame rate really suffers (swamp area). It’s literally juddered to a stop there before to the point I was worried the game would crash. I think that area needs fixing/patching if possible.
No one thrown Keira Knightleys name in the ring for Zelda? Can’t be very creative with my casting ideas. Sorry. Not really up to speed with many current actors. I would say Brian Blessed for Ganon but he is/will be too old unfortunately. Perfect voice imo tho! Also, Ik she’s not an actress but I think Serena Williams would make an excellent Gerudo warrior!
My amiibo dream is likely impossible, due to the sheer volume of characters in the series but personally I’d love a hitmonlee amiibo! Failing that, Jimmy T, or Tom. (The cat from animal crossing).
I never really noticed the va in Mario/Wario games that much before. Having watched the comparison video I realised just how talented Charles Martinet was/is.
I thought Kevin Afghani was ok as Wario. Not as good as Martinet but ok. Va in games has never been 1 of my priorities, however after watching the video I’ve realised just how much the va adds to Warios personality!
Am looking forward to the game. Hopefully Warios “new voice” will grow on me.
@Maxz Really? I do wonder just who is laughing. I suggest you check my earlier posts, as the earlier ones have 8 individual likes. That means quite a few people agree with me, as opposed to the 3 or 4 people railing against my views. I actually think you should read some of my earlier posts, then you may learn I didn’t accuse the whole site of a lack of integrity, just some of the journalism. Also, it’s not just this 1 isolated article. I’ve seen a lot more cheerleading almost to the point of promotion of especially Ps5 but also other devices on other articles here. It’s also become much more prevalent in the last few months imo.
@LikelySatan Really? Then I’d question your comprehension if I’m honest. Not like I’m posting stuff like this for any other reason than it’s actually my opinion and it’s not like I am saying this stuff without reason or precedent.
@Yalloo Personally I don’t care about the games they play on other consoles. I don’t care that it’s mentioned, until it becomes too commonplace or excessive, which is where it’s going atm, if I’m honest. I’m more than aware others are interested in reading about it but can only speak for myself. It wouldn’t be so bad if either this site was presented as a multi console site, or if sister sites (pure xbox, Push square) were the same but they’re not. They actually concentrate almost 100% on the consoles they are billed to be about.
@Yalloo I disagree. This site is beginning to disappoint me. All I need to say to you is browse Push Square (the ps equivalent of this site) then come back and tell me it’s the same there. Hint:- It’s much more console specific there and much less “multi console “ because they have staff there who actually write about what they are supposed to write about.
@TotalHenshin ok but correct me if I’m wrong but the title of this site is “Nintendo life”, correct? So logic would tell you that this article would be chiefly about Switch, or possibly other Nintendo console sw. The fact that it increasingly isn’t, coupled with the large amount of ads around these parts for Spider-Man and other ps games, maybe cynically, leads me to question the integrity of these so-called “Nintendo Life” writers.
@larryisaman hmmm I disagree. The article creator literally said he was playing nothing but a ps5 exclusive. Then he added a switch game as a footnote, an afterthought. Probably an edit, after he realised he was posting on a Nintendo site.
@LikelySatan I don’t quite know what you are trying to say. Prove your credentials as a member of staff? Or somehow prove to me the staff are in the right because they’re somehow similar to you? Personally I’m entitled to my opinion and if I want to question the staffs motives here, then I will do. Personally, I don’t come here to read about Spider-Man 2 for example.
@Teksetter I’m afraid I have to question just how much some of them actually love Nintendo genuinely tho, or whether they see this gig as just a job. Other console/sw coverage seems to be popping up here more and more lately and some seem to actually mention other consoles/exclusives more than actual switch sw. Would be np if this was a multi console dedicated site but it isn’t. It’s claiming to be a Nintendo site. This sort of thing doesn’t happen on push square.
@AmplifyMJ I agree and other consoles and their exclusives seem to be sneaking into these articles all too much lately. You don’t see the same sort of thing in push square etc, so why should we here?
Sick and tired of reading about what the “team” are playing…. On different consoles! This is supposed to be a NINTENDO site! Time to get in new writers who are ACTUALLY fans.

Chibi Robo came out very late in the gamecubes life. This definitely deserves a mention.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st June)
As always, shameless plugs for Ps4 games, Ps5 games AND the steam deck. “Journalists “, fans” or neither? Hmm.

Looks like crap. I’ll pass.

If this game doesn’t make it to a Nintendo console, then this article is irrelevant here.

@Paraka Yes!
I would love it to be released again in any capacity. From what I remember, the handling was spot on!
Re: Random: Capcom Reveals "Most Popular" Games And Comments From Fan Survey
I still think of Auto modellista, a pretty obscure racer from ps2/gc times.
Loved that game. Really wish they would do a sequel.

Re: Random: This Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Mod Lets Link Falcon Punch His Foes
@hippydave Hence, the use of “official”. If it’s not official, then as far as I’m concerned it’s not a port.
You have answered your own question
Re: Random: This Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Mod Lets Link Falcon Punch His Foes
@hippydave
Why don’t you link me to your definition?
I never stated my stance was anything other than opinion.
Re: Random: This Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Mod Lets Link Falcon Punch His Foes
@hippydave
Disagree. A port would need at the very least to be done with the permission of the copyright owners.
Re: Random: This Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Mod Lets Link Falcon Punch His Foes
Incorrect assertion in the article.
There is no such thing as a “pc port” of Oot. If there was, it would have been done by the original developers.
Fun video though.
Re: Talking Point: What DS & 3DS Games Would You Still Like To See On Switch?
Chibi Robo park patrol (DS)
Wario ware gold, smash, tomadachi life, Pokemon x/y, rhythm heaven (3ds)

@dugan
Unfortunately there is probably a heavy sale on.

This game deserves every sale and more. The switch port is amazing!
