The creator of the Metroidvania-style 2D Action-RPG, Dark Flame, has tweeted the title has a chance of a release on the Wii U eShop if Nintendo fans show their support.
Dark Flame's creator is looking at taking his project to Kickstarter in hope of gaining funds to hire a few professionals and further polish the experience so that the game is released as soon as possible:
Dark Flame is a 2D Action-RPG or otherwise known as a “Metroidvania". This game has been in development by myself for a little over a year and a half. I am planning on turning to Kickstarter to hire on a few professionals to polish up this game and get it to the players (you) as soon as possible. Unfortunately, hiring people who are good at what they do, is a bit expensive. With your help, I can turn Dark Flame from a dream, to a reality. I truly need your support in backing this project!
The title promises to include large themed environments, which channel Metroidvania-style gameplay, a unique level-up system with unlockable talents and spells and much more:
- Large, Themed Environments: Action-packed Metroidvania-style gameplay with personally created rooms and environments.
- Determine Your Destiny: Choose whether to persevere with good faiths, or succumb to the darkness in this diverse storyline.
- Customizable Gameplay: Unique level-up system with unlockable talents and spells.
- DeathOriginal Soundtrack: inspired from old “-vania" titles.
- Hidden Rooms and Secrets: Large, maze-like environments consisting of upgrades and hidden items!
Take a look at the game's trailer below and show your support in the comments if you would like to see Dark Flame published on the Wii U eShop.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip!

I hear this guy is pretty good at this game.
Naw - looks like a ripoff - I like tributes or homages - this looks cheap and crappy
Look nice, but in need of some polish. Love these types of games even if the market has been flooded lately. Pixel art and animations look pretty fluid - glad it's now on my radar. I wouldn't buy it on Wii-U personally as it'll inevitably be cheaper on PC, but I hope the system gets it once its in a more refined, post-kickstarter state.
This game doesn't look particularly interesting to me so I probably won't be buying it. Unless of course it gets high regards in reviews. Maybe then I'd give it another chance.
Poor man's Castlevania, and we have Bloodstained on the way. I'd probably pass.
For the record though, it looks quite a bit better than some of the other trash that gets on the Wii U eShop...
I'm sorry, but it really, really looks like he outright traced Alucard's sprite and animations. There's a fine line between homage and rip-off, and I think this one is pushing it a bit too much.
I could be interested but it needs to improve quite a bit.
Nope, not interested. The bland designs are one thing, but the dull presentation easily turned me away from it. Sorry guy, maybe another day.
Nop, I'll wait for Bloodstained - this one doesn't look very good.
@GeminiSaint - Indeed.
It's look fine, but it sprites need to be polish. Most of them look like they was made in MsPaint (not trying to dis people that use MsPaint for sprites, as I use it a lot) and the animations are really choppy.
Poor man's Castlevania.
uhm... meh!!
Like others have said is just a ripoff from castlevania.
3DS or gtfo.
