Senran Kagura Burst proved to be quite a divisive title, with some claiming it was harmless titillation and others finding the content of the game to be derogatory to women.
Things don't appear to have changed much with SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson and when we interviewed Producer Kenichirō Takaki at E3 this year he was fairly up-front, as usual. This is a controversial game, and a Swedish newspaper even went on the record to say "Nintendo has a responsibility to stop products of this kind" back in March this year.
The kinky folks over at Marvellous Games aren't deterred, though, and have today released a video unboxing of the Shinobi Edition and Happy Boobs (yes really!) Edition of the game.
SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson will be launching on the 27th August in Europe and on the 15th September in North America. Has this unboxing convinced you to hunt down one of the physical collector's editions or will you not touch this game with a ten foot barge pole?

I want 4!!
Sadly I had to pass up on a collector's edition due to unforeseen financial responsibilities. ie I bought a house out of the blue
Derogatory to women my ass. If someone doesn't like it, make a version for women with bouncing penises or something like that. No men would complain about that.
I think the names of the editions should switch after watching the video.
...Just the digital edition for me, but thanks anyway, Takaki.
LIFE > HOMETOWN
I just wanted to get that out of the way. Thankfully, the SK producer feels the same.
@Dezzy Hey, at least they can't stop Japan from doing what it likes and making games with lots of life like ω-Labyrinth. And, if they mess with the localization process, the localizer can go the way of NISA.
@BinaryFragger The LE of Omega Labyrinth will come with something that looks like a vibrator, as far as I know. Either that or it's an in-game item, I have to go check.
"Lots of quality assurance went into making the mousepad comfy" yeah, I bet
Can't wait for my Happy Boobs edition to arrive. Want that soundtrack! And, y'know, the game. But I'm a sucker for soundtracks.
And I'm firmly in the camp of "Don't like, don't buy." I won't have hand-wringing authoritarians telling me what I should find offensive or problematic, and I certainly won't have them preventing me from playing a game because they find it 'toxic' or whatever BS they're spouting.
I'll just get the digital version.
Almost finished Shinovi Versus on Vita, I'll probably play Burst next so this one will have to wait a bit anyway.
@BinaryFragger It just turns me off ever so slightly that the 3DS doesn't get those kinds of games, but I know how Conception II came out.
That said, I honestly want to see how that π-play thing the SK producer joked about turns out in real life. He did mention (jokingly) that it could be used for therapeutic applications...
The boobs are so happy they are jumping up and down...
This 2nd game will have very smooth framerate and better graphics, but I am already burned out after playing the first one. It seems like an easy game at the beginning but can be very challenging later.
What can be said about this box? It's great, but the NyuuNyuuDX Box is better! ^_^
...I'm just going to download this.
I still can't help but feel that they mix up the collector edition names during the creation process. You're telling me the one that also comes with a comfy mousepad that would put a smile to guys (and some girls) faces isn't the Happy Boob edition? Kind of misleading.
@ekreig
@ultraraichu
YES!
@BinaryFragger That mousepad kind of reminds me of that Fire Emblem Chrom booty mousepad.
Unboxing? More like undressing.
Despite the lewd crude nature of all of this the absurdity of it all bring go a smile to my face. And while it's certainly not PC, and I wouldn't blame anyone - male or female - for being offended, the ridiculousness of it all I find much less creepy than any of those Japanese dating or picture sims.
Outrageously funny, good, lifelike creepy, bad.
@sinalefa Nice.
@Dezzy LMFAO:The Game
Man. America Edition sucks now.
Let me preface this by saying I have played the first game and I mostly enjoyed the gameplay. I'm also not against attractive female characters, however the way that the characters in this game (and many games) are portrayed is objectifying. Here's a game that I think portrays otherwise strong female characters but presents gratuitous boob and panty shots and has them strip down to a bikini to "power up".
I'm not at all saying these are bad games or that anyone should feel like a bad person for playing them. But the mocking and ignorance of the issues is very upsetting to me, I'd like to think the Nintendo community is a little more inclusive than other gamer communities.
It's called the "happy boobs edition", lol!
I'm getting the neutered NA physical edition because I can't justify the cost of the EU exclusives without a playable copy of the game (my 3DS is NA).
@Dezzy THANK YOU!!! Rationality to the rescue!
@Dezzy This game is not derogatory to women. The female characters would have to be grown for for that to be true. They are still children. They are till teenagers. They are not adults. That is what makes the game derogatory, filth, disgusting, disgraceful and worthless. With the things that happen to children in real life, for anyone to take enjoyment in a fictional depiction of objectified children needs to look deep within themselves and reject this. You don't need morality or commonsense to see how wrong something like this is.
Is this like, the only option? Can't just get the game box? :/
@Saeros_Fae_Falla While I can respect your angle on the subject, and I do, something to keep in mind... it's not real. Nor does engaging in it, transform people into pedophiles. That's something you either are or you aren't. Essentially, that's like someone that likes to go see slasher horror movies, a potential murderer. People like what they like. If it's not for you, great. Don't get into self righteous pontification. And or, just because you wouldn't, means I shouldn't. Do what's right for you. Don't beat people up just because they're engaging in something you just can't. The word of the day would be "allow". Also, this game is coming from a completely different culture that doesn't view this subject matter the way other places in the world do. So either, take part in that particular facet of their culture or don't. It's all good.
Side note: Now, if this were interactive kiddie porn, you know... with real kids, you and I are on the same team. Otherwise, it's only a game.
I'd love it if we got these games but staring dudes 😍
Europe ALWAYS gets better limited edition stuff... Canada is technically part of the British monarchical system, we should get lumped in with Europe for publishing purposes.
@Megumi Don't know about America, but marvelous has normal versions on their website
what can be said about it? UNFAIR that's what! only europeans get the collector's edition while americans only get a puny soundtrack
I want those boobies now!
Pixel Boobies are peacefull, they can do no harm, just enjoy the hopping boobs, its ok
The world will also survive this game + boobies, don't worry.
Peacefull happy boobies.
and off course there are also nice games for girls, for example Ai Cho Aniki, they got all a woman ever wants!
Totally jealous about these sweet editions of the game. Although at least the U.S. is getting a physical version of some sort.
Cant wait until this releases!
@Dezzy I'm guessing you've never seen Mount Your Friends on Steam?
I imported the Nyuu Nyuu DX Pack from Japan, because I really wanted the cute little figurines...
@Nintendood
Really nice!! Tempted to import it as well along with a Japanese 3ds!!!
At play-asia is at 35 bucks!!
Sadly the game didn't seem to do so well in Japan (seems like there are story and balancing issues or something; think there were also complaints about two important characters not being playable, though now said characters are playable in Estival Versus as DLC). Because of that, the Japanese DX Nyu Nyu pack LE is insanely cheap now. I'll just get that since it's cheaper and come with 5 mini nendoroid figures.
@BinaryFragger
3DS used to have a few pretty "strange" games as well during the first couple years. All stayed in Japan of course, but they're there. Like that one game about being trapped in a room with a girl.
But yeah, nowadays Vita gets more of them since more devs are finding they have more power and "interaction" to play with on Vita and people of a certain kind to cater to. Most stay in Japan, but thank goodness for English-translated Asian versions and region free.
Haha... This guy is funny. Yep, what's wrong with a little boobs? The first game has been on my wishlist for a while now, hoping for a discount with this new one release, and then I might get both.
@maceng Yeah, they're also selling the Japanese New 3DS for around $160 on there. That's what made me finally decide get one. I was already considering it because I live in the US and have no interest in an XL.
@Dezzy No, they would, because that absolutely and completely disgusting on so many levels.
