Silly. More people gamble while watching basketball than they do while playing poker. Not to mention loot boxes (actual gambling) in other games.

Loved the first game and it had a fair bit of backtracking too. The backtracking came with its perks though as you saw the town evolve and get more robust and repaired. The combat was so satisfying with the animations. Chunky, satisfying hits. Looking forward to playing 2.

One day, a video game adaptation won’t have the premise of “real world person gets sucked into a video game through a portal.” Sonic = portal. Mario = portal. Jumanji = portal. Minecraft = portal.

One of the most rewarding gaming experiences I’ve ever had is searching for every last shrine on my own, no guides. Looking at all the green lines on the map of where I’ve been and venturing to the gaps here and there to search for a shrine. It was euphoric when I spent a few hours searching for the final shrine and saw it in a gully below as I was gliding from a dive off a cliff.

Is there anything to do there? Like…I’ve been very underwhelmed by all I’ve seen leading up to this point. Are there rides? The atmosphere looks cool but I feel like after eating (hopefully) above average theme park food and looking at expensive merchandise I’d be like “Welp….should we leave?”

Do yourselves a favor and play it on Hard mode from the get go. It makes it really fun. Great game overall.

Shame I literally just bought this for my son a few days ago. The only thing to do in the game is quick play a simple soccer match. I could have just got the demo and told him it was the full game, he wouldn’t have cared that only a few characters were available.

Most people are too busy posting “I like men” and “Trans rights!!!1!!” to bother doing a QR code post.

I like how people are saying a new game is great for newcomers but long time fans won't see the need. It's the exact opposite. I put like 300 hours into Splatoon 1 and 300 into Splatoon 2...basically stopped playing it a few years ago. A new iteration with all the little extra features, even if it was just going to be maps and weapons, has always had me excited to buy and put 300 more hours into it.

@Beermonkey I recently started another play through of it (my 4th time) as it’s been like 5 years since I last played. Such a good survival horror game! Gamepad usage is spot on.

Joy cons are just…the worst. Good luck to any game that requires them.

@rex_rex I haven’t played Enter the Gungeon in a few years, but loved it. Couldn’t get past the third or fourth area though, so difficult!

Just did the update and after it auto restarted, the menu sounds are way glitchy and scratchy. Anyone else have that?

I love the Wii U. ZombiU is hands down one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

The “Metroid community” is comprised of hundreds of thousands of people who don’t know each other, are from all over the world, have completely different values, and at one point have enjoyed at least one Metroid game. Let’s not go putting people into boxes and stereotyping them based on a actions of complete strangers who don’t magically represent hundreds of thousands of people who, at one point, enjoyed the same video game.

I have 6 joy cons, I rarely use them as I play my Xbox more. Part of the reason I don’t play my switch is the stupid joy cons. The inputs don’t work half the time if I have my controller resting in my lap. Two of the controllers’ joy sticks perpetually move to the left....I’ve sent them back 4 times and they replaced them with new ones each time. Doesn’t matter, never fixed it.

For those who haven’t played Apex, it’s a really well done battle royal and a ton of fun. Far different vibe and experience than Fortnite.

@ALinkttPresent The difference between a 9 and 10 is nothing when the meaning behind anything above an 8 is essentially a “must play”. The point is, these games are great and worth playing whether the score is a 9 or 10.

@Lindhardt Right on. Internet arguments can feel intense because you can’t sit and reason with someone, you have to frantically type while trying to work or whatever else is going on. It’s all good. If you’d like my opinion on the matter, I’d say all races (especially the black community who has 65% single parents) need MORE nuclear family structure. Fathers abandoning their kids and mother being incentivized to essentially marry the government is ruining communities of low incomes.

@Lindhardt Naw I think it’s you that doesn’t understand what Communism is or what the organization of BLM represents. The founders of BLM literally claim to be “trained marxists”. Terrorism by definition is the unlawful use of force to further a political objective. I’d say $600 million in property damage, 900 injured police officers, 30 deaths, the calling for the destruction of then nuclear family, and the calling for violence in the suburbs absolutely fits the description of terrorism.

Seeing as my daughter started playing first and is the resident representative, I completely lost interest in this game within about a week of it coming out. Our town still has the same song playing for 24 hours straight if that gives you any idea of how little progress has been made with her at the helm.

I wouldn’t mind using this for the intro of Splatoon 2.

Meanwhile, I haven’t played this game in over a month because my daughter is the resident representative and hasn’t advanced the town in the slightest. Patiently waiting for a patch, Nintendo.

Make it possible to switch the resident representative to another player and I’ll consider even turning the game on. My daughter is the representative and we still only have 2 villagers living on the island. That’s how long it’s taking to get any progress going on in the town. I went from being really excited about this game to paying $60 for a game I have no desire to touch.

Meanwhile, I’m still stuck with the same dang song every hour and only have two animal residents. My daughter, who is the resident representative, refuses to do any of the necessary tasks to advance the town. Nintendo, please patch this and allow other residents to become the representative

@Flammy I feel ya. My daughter started playing first and she has no desire to do the objectives. I played in her profile a bit to progress somewhat but eventually lost all motivation to play the game. Haven’t played in a week. She still hasn’t built the furniture for the people who wanna move in. It’s a shame. I loved the GameCube version and was looking forward to this on. Now I really don’t care.

The real bummer of this is that my daughter started playing first, and thus she is the bottleneck for all progress. Therefore, I don’t ever play on my own profile. When my daughter goes to bed and I wanna relax and play animal crossing, I have to play on her profile to get anything done in the town.

So....no micro transactions?

Tis a shame the Switch Pro Controller D Pad is horrible and registers a Left or Right movement as Up 10% of the time. Makes it hard to do well when every ten or so moves sends the bricks crashing down when you were simply trying to shift them one spot to the left.

@Damo Yeah but in the real world, the only gold coins I’ve ever spent are through My Nintendo, hence we all thought that’s what was being said. Unless you think we have stockpiles of real coins we earned 20 years ago as kids collecting coins in Super Mario World...

Heck, the Switch can be played with a pro controller, on a TV, handheld mode, tabletop mode, 1 joy con, or 2 joy cons. Typical Nintendo? Smh.

Objectively Fortnite’s motion controls are less accurate than Splatoon’s. There is a fair bit of dead space, so if your trying to shoot someone at a distance then Fortnite’s motion controls don’t recognize your very fine movements. Splatoon is buttery smooth even when making a very small adjustment to your aim.

I played against a hacker who teleported behind me and splatted me. Happened twice with that player. Since then I’ve been much less motivated to play.
