Uh-oh! It looks like there's been another leak on the Nintendo Switch front. Following on from the Paper Mario: The Origami King leak a week out from its release back in July, something similar has now reportedly happened to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity just days out from its release.
According to GoNintendo, social media and "other corners" of the internet are filled with all sorts of spoilers about the game:
"Everything from the full roster, cut-scenes, and much more is floating around."
Over on the Gaming leaks and rumours subreddit, one user verified they were able to download the game themselves.
This leak appears to stem from users who got copies of the game early - with dataminers then sifting through the full game's files to reveal additional information about it.
So, if you're looking to avoid any spoilers like the ones mentioned above, it's probably best to avoid searching for Hyrule Warriors online, at least for a few days.

Is it just me or did the hype for this game die after the demo?
And so the Age of Spoilers begins.
Skipped the demo which was a mistake because it got spoiled anyway, so I guess I'll need to be extra careful of this. Desperately want as much surprise as possible despite Nintendo's attempts to tell me literally everything in the game before playing it.
If it's true that the frame rate was fixed, that's huge!
Good news about the frame rate, I hope the person saying so is being truthful.
@ArmenianJedi13 maybe for you. I thought it was great fun. If the frame rates better that’s icing on top. I thought Hyrule Warriors wasn’t really a great representation of Zelda. Age of Calamity felt different from the demo. Like more time had gone into making it feel less repetitive and more quality involved.
Framerate could be a locked 60fps, won't make the game any more fun to me. Tried to enjoy the demo but the Warriors style gameplay bores me to tears.
Will watch the cutscenes on youtube.
Is this a "leak" or has been the case for the past decade with Nintendo releasing games on Fridays store employees put the games out for purchase on Tuesday when most other video games normally release?
I used to be able to buy weekend release games early at Target on Tuesday but about 5 years ago they updated their register system so I could have someone get the game out of the case for me and bring it to the register but it wouldn't ring up. After that happened twice I stopped trying to buy them but I still see them on the shelf early a lot.
I've never had a game before release, but who immediately thinks about cracking it open and spreading the contents (both cut and included) across the internet?
Let everyone enjoy it, then if anything cool comes up feel free to share it. You don't need to be "first" for your 5 seconds of fame. It's not like you will have made the content or tools yourself.
Does anyone knows when the review embargo is lifted?
@Kimyonaakuma because people seem to wanna know that info it seems.
I personally avoid spoilers where I can. I don’t watch trailers of games nor movies only teasers.
And the part of having a game before release... that happened to me a lot.
I must be old. I can remember a time when "some consumers got copies of the game early" didn't qualify as "omg the game has been leaked!"
@ArmenianJedi13 Just you. I’m hyped and I know many are.
wahhahaha, its seems they always one step ahead
As long as the story isn't spoiled i'm ok, everything else i will look up but the story i would rather not no especially as the demo implied things won't happen the way we think.
Have it downloaded on the Switch already so i'm very pumped, great week for gaming for me with new MK11 DLC and HW.
@ArmenianJedi13 I mean, it seemed that many people didn't understand (somehow) that it was a Warriors game and were disappointed by the gameplay and then the frame rate was also a problem for many. I'm not a big fan of those games either but I had a blast with the demo of this one and I don't notice the frame rate issues easily. Felt more like actual hack n' slash than mindless musou to me. In fact, it's pretty much what I expected.
@NullPointerExcep Friday or the weekend of release.
@ArmenianJedi13 Its you. For me it was the opposite. Wasnt really hyped until I played the demo.
@ArmenianJedi13 For me it was the opposite, the demo made me want this game. And I never played a musou game before.
@SortingHat I think it's great to be me, actually. I get to experience the game how I prefer any game: as a complete package. I like musou games and don't find it to be "repetitive button mashing," at least not in the derogatory sense that you seem to be suggesting. As for your claim about them changing leveling up in an update... source? Perhaps I missed it but that's a baseless claim, especially since the assumption you're basing it off of is centered on a game developed by an entirely different company. Even if we go along with the hypothetical, I figure whatever design choices that the developers make for launch day are the ones they intend and thus what I want to experience. This can be for better or worse, but it's something I value.
Anyway, it sounds like you're about to play a game you're not too excited about. I'd say it more sucks to be you. I'm super excited for the game!
Lots of eBay sellers always used to have titles early and would ship by special delivery. I remember getting Metal Gear Solid 4 and Modern Warfare 2 around 4 or 5 days early but this rarely happens now.
Frame rate fixed? I'm bying it then.
@SweetOnion I agree. I wanted to see how the demo played because I grew very tired of the mechanics of Hyrule Warriors Defiinitive and wanted to make sure they changed things.
@SortingHat You do realize this is a Warriors game right? Its basically the first Hyrule Warriors but based on BotW, if you're going in expecting an open world or exploring then you're really going to be in for a shock..
@TheFullAndy Yes same for me. I wanted to like it because of the source material, but I just can't get into the warriors style games. Finding out the story elements are the only pull for me. Glad others are looking forward to it though
@Snakesglowcaps
Is it just a button mash against hundreds of opponents? I just don't find much fun in that to be honest. I'm sure it is a lot deeper than that at times but I'm pretty sure a good amount of these types of games are 500 on 1 fighting.
The game hasn't leaked, it's likely someone just dumped the pre-download using homebrew tools, and this will happen with every game that has a pre-download. Not that I condone piracy, I'm just pointing out that dump the image of a pre-download is something anyone can do. I can't seem to verify on twitter if this version has already a day1 patch or not thou, which would be a welcome relief. But I guess day 1 is in two days anyway so we'll see if they solved the frames issue.
@SortingHat They aren't games focused on exploring, in fact they aren't similar to Zelda in most aspects. These games have more common with Devil May Cry than BOTW. As I said I have no idea why many people expected a Zelda game. It's a Warriors game with a BOTW theme.
About BOTW 2, it will be like the first one. No doubts about it.
I literally pre ordered this yesterday after playing the demo again. Looking forward to Friday, something extra to get into over the weekend along with Sniper 4, NMH enlisted and DMC 5 SE. I rarely look up more info on games I am about to buy/play, the odd review perhaps.
@SortingHat I did play the demo on hard difficulty which would make the fights last longer,so tedium did set in quickly because of that for me. I've never really been interested in the warriors game design and gameplay so its no surprise I didn't take to this either, despite the interest I have in the story. Still,I'm glad there are many people looking forward to it
@SortingHat I am usually pretty good at keeping a game I am bothered about spoiler free and actually "new". Resident Evil 4 being a prime example, there were videos of Japanese versions spoiling it all. Safe to say I hadn't bothered with them and was amazed every few hours at how much awesome they crammed into that game back in 2005. As for Amiibo, that ship has sailed, if there's one I really want I usually buy them on the restock. I got Bayonetta because I voted her in, and Star Wolf because I've blown him up so many times in Zero. Not actually that fussed about the champions, at least not at the moment. Cheers though
@PlayedNSlayed hard in a warriors game is tedious at low level because it takes forever to kill anything. Start on normal, then once normal foes can be "one shot" up to harder levels. Warriors games have never done difficulty well, it just increases hit points and armour and makes them attack more frequently.
@SortingHat no I meant the Amiibo ship for myself. I am fairly content with my current Amiibo collection.
@SortingHat for Amiibo, alot are fairly cheap at the moment. Be clearing through stock as sales will have dipped dramatically. I may pick up the Metroid ones, Dark Samus etc.
People just can't wait for two days, can they.
@FargusPelagius I can agree that may be the case that it gets tedious on higher difficulty because of being low level, but as I say,I've never taken to the warriors style gameplay. I'll give the demo another go on lower difficulty maybe. Like I say,I want to like it because of the source material and I'm sure it will sell well because if that anyway
@ArmenianJedi13 It's almost like the people who don't like Warriors games but were hyped and themselves over it being BOTW canon played the demo... and remembered it was still a Warriors game.
Considering that the game takes place a century ago, I'm surprised it didn't leak sooner. 😉
Not gonna look up spoilers (though I am happy to hear that the framerate is a bit better)
@PlayedNSlayed yeah it took me two tries to convince me I would actually enjoy it. I really enjoyed Impa'a style and the fact the shiekah slate gives each character variations of the abilities, injected alot more experimentation on the second try. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it improves on the previous Hyrule warriors in alot of ways. Good luck and happy gaming regardless on wether you end up enjoying it.
That explains the thumbnails I've been getting on Youtube.
@SortingHat I'm used to 60, 90 and 120 FPS on PC and frame drops on anything less than 60 fps is highly noticably for me.
Especially in a 30 fps game dropping to Playstation 1 frame rate. 15-20 fps.
This is the wackiest game ever. I wont spoil it but you will be yelling at your switch with all the BS that happens. So many lore contradictions is all i'm saying
Not watching them vids cuz i dont want spoilers
Didn't we know its release date...
I'm just glad about the tweet that the frame rate has been improved. Hope to find a copy tomorrow at a store.
@SortingHat Just bought Age of Calamity in local store.
There is no frame rate problems at all anymore, and works fine in portable mode too.
It's much better than the demo.
@SortingHat Perhaps they updated the demo already when you tried it.
