@kobashi100 Yeah. Trials is one of the few games which really used analog triggers. Shame Switch isnt part of the beta program so players can share their thoughts prior to release.
@Rika_Yoshitake While BOTW is undoubtedly the better overall game the world and characters felt felt very flat when compared with those in HZD. Obviously a technical limitation of the Switch but how I wish for the depth of BOTW with the visuals and character acting or HZD.
@mazzel Team 17 did not publish Overcooked or Yooka-Laylee in the traditional sense as they did not pay any development costs. They handle the distribution of the game and marketing and take a percentage of the sales.
Importantly, they didn't have influence during the development.
Seems like people are trying to use 'indie' to describe a style of game - but that will never work because small independent studios can create massive games - take No Mans Sky for example.
Much better to use it as a term that describes the distance between the team making the game and the money people pay for it.
The problem with this approach is it creates a race to the bottom. Devs have to create games with no barrier to entry (cost) so need games that rely on repetitive gameplay loops that encourage micro transactions.
No smaller studio is going to strive to create games like Octopath Traveller in a marketplace where they will be swamped. The flip side of this is the stuidos that can market games like OT see the money going towards the free to play games so start making those.
The part where you question nothing left in the tank... while listing games that are ports of games that existed on other systems 12 + months ago as evidence is quite funny.
@mazzel @Shufty is correct. Does not matter how big a studio is, nor the style of game. If a game is created without investment from a publisher it is independent. Look at Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice for instance.
@Stocksy I could easily do this too and I have never cheated in a game or hacked one. Not saying I am clever and thats the scary and annoulying part. Nintendos lack of forsight when it comes to online is quite astonishing, especially when you consider they will start charging soon.
Only gripe I have is when you have a non-story / speculation article.
Would love to see this replaced with coverage of eshop titles, if nintendo are serious about flooding the eshop with indies we will need help spotting the good games.
I would love to see the game expanded and have an even longer life but you need to deliver that content to ALL players. Split the player base and the game will die.
Now the game is a year old I would be fine with paid for cosmetics being added as long as we saw consistent updates to gameplay.
@ClassSonicSatAm No. There is to 'to be fair' when your sending abusive messages to a human being because you want a character to appear in a game.
There are plenty of ways to be heard, this is not one of them.
Nintendo are now in the situation where they should not put Waluigi in the game becuase it could encourage this behaviour towards their staff in the future.
@frogopus I dont believe this has been mentioned but servers can run anti cheat measures (like VAC) this is often a game of cat and mouse BUT if Nintendo banned hackers it would essentially block the Switch from playing online which is a much bigger risk to a potentially hacker than having to set up a new account.
@Yamyum The cross play / log in issue seems to have been confused which is a shame. The log in lock is a serious consumer issue that needs to be addressed. Players should have been warned when linking their accounts that they may be stopped from using that account with other third partys.
@Fist_of_Belial I can see the logic in Sony trying to protect their generation winning lead. But dont forget that Microsoft were ontop at the end of the last generation and made some very non consumer friendly decissions just as Sony are doing now.
I think its shortighted and will harm their brand.
I know it was only 5 seconds but if your 2018 E3 presentation has minecraft filling the numbers something is wrong.
The lack of third party support was very sad to see after such a great 2017. Starting to think Wolfenstien is going to be the last big mutliplatform game.
@Cosats Actually a really good point. Trials is one of the only games i've played where you use the analog triggers to their potential. Expecially on the top tier levels.
Didnt enjoy fusion as much as the first 2 games and the blood dragon cross over was awful. Hopefully this is a return to form as its a perfect game for Switch.
Not going to be shelling out for early access but it will be nice to have a team fps on Switch.
Played it on PS4 and PC and had good fun but I eventually went back to Overwatch because there were some pay to win mechanics that made me feel it was not all skill based.
I've been playing online with my friend for almost 15 years over various platforms.
We both own a Switch and when we see each other playing Mario Kart / Splatoon we DON'T play together.
It baffles me that Nintendo shows you that your friends are online, and you can see what their playing, but you can't even send a simple text message to say 'hi'.
@Joeynator3000 Mostly good. The reason for the new version is it shares the same code base so updates will reach all platforms quicker. It also allows for cross platform play AND purchases.
Bad because it means this is the same code as mobiles. This hasn't gone down well with the xbone community as the crafting interface changed.
@McHaggis Wow. That is terrible. I can't help feeling that rather than adding value Nintendo's is purposefully crippling there system in order to sell it back to us.
Really think they priced this wrong. Can't help thinking the model should have been you could buy each item seperately at a much lower price and the software be free.
This would give a much lower barrier to entry , a potential system seller and Nintendo would literally be selling cardboard boxes.
People will say 'oh you would just use your own boxes...' but you would still need a switch!
@BigCoqSurprise Your splatoon experience will not improve. Splatoon 2 (and all other online Nintendo games) uses peer to peer networking. Meaning one of the players becomes the server and everyone else connects to them.
See my previous comment about what you actually pay for (for MS and Sony anyway - we still don't know what Nintendo have in store.)
@dunnyone A common mistake regarding paying for online is 'it pays for the servers' - it doesn't. When you play GTA5, Fortnite, Overwatch, COD etc. you are paying on servers provided by the developer at there own cost.
What you are paying for is the service that connects you together so you can easily join your friends in these games and communicate with them.
@Tulio517 I don't understand why anyone would pre-order a digtal copy of a game. It is not like they would run out of copies. Is there a reason I haven't thought of?
Sorry. Hope to be proven wrong but this looks dull. All thats shown is enemy appears - enemy is shot - repeat. I like the idea of a top down shooter on the switch but this doesnt look like it will be a hotline miami beater by a long way.
@justin233 If you have an iPad check out the demo. It has 3 gadgets (think of these as instruments that are made to be played on electronic devices) and will give you a much better understanding than any text.
I doubt you will be able to export. May come in the future.
I use it on the iPad to create loops which i play along with on physical instruments.
Hope its a good port because the PS4 version was a buggy mess when that was released. The only game I have ever asked for money back on. Game play seemed interesting but 20% of the time the screen was a flickering mess.

Re: Ubisoft's Trials Rising Secures February Switch Release Date And Special Gold Edition
@NintendoKnight I think its the lack of opinion people react to. Whats the point in making a comment that adds nothing to the conversation?
Re: Ubisoft's Trials Rising Secures February Switch Release Date And Special Gold Edition
@kobashi100 Yeah. Trials is one of the few games which really used analog triggers. Shame Switch isnt part of the beta program so players can share their thoughts prior to release.
Looking forward to some more trials though.

Re: Super Rare Games Announces A Whopping Nine Physical Switch Releases
@mazzel But it is the correct definition. It should not be used to define the size of a studio or a type of game because those things are subjective.
The companies you mention own development studios so those studios are not independent.

I had a mechanical problem after about 12 months and it was due to dust getting under the stick. Can of compressed air sorted it out
