Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong's Upcoming Patch Will Nerf The Difficulty In Certain Areas

Brumblescope

@Denoloco It's interesting. Neither of these bosses were that difficult. The hardest fight for me so far was the red ant with the flying, spear-throwing ant in the same room. I may just be remembering things poorly, or maybe the difficulty ramps up later (I haven't made it into the citadel yet), but I remember Hollow Knight being harder and much more frustrating for me. Maybe I've gotten better at games since then, but I haven't gotten stuck really anywhere in Silksong yet.

Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

How are they screwing us? Pro 1 controllers have by far the best battery life of any controller I've ever owned. I've had mine since 2017 when the Switch came out and have never had stick drift or needed to replace the batteries. So far my experience with the Pro2 controller is more of the same except even more comfortable. Not sure how anyone could call the Pro2 a piss poor controller - except... oh yeah. it serves their business and drives clicks. As someone with actual experience with the pro 2 controller and repairing my own devices this video makes me lose respect for ifixit, not Nintendo. So many on the internet that try to make of buck by being critical of other's success. It's tiresome.

Re: Poll: So, What's Your Favourite Course In Mario Kart World?

I really hope they patch in a classic mode down the line. I think they left it out to try to push the new Knockout Mode, which is great in its own way, but like so many people posting here, I miss three laps on a single track. The new format is growing on me though. The buildup of getting to the track makes that one lap feel important.

I don't mind the new format and the push towards a different formula. But I really hope they give the option of a classic mode in the future so we can really appreciate the tracks themselves.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Comments On The Possibility Of A Playable Zelda In The Future

Swapping protagonists just doesn’t feel like a Zelda game to me. I love the concept of the player being linked to all these adventures by the hero, Link. It’s a huge part of the charm of the series for me and I hope they hold fast and never make Zelda playable. She isn’t just a random hero that appears when needed in Hyrule. She is a part of Hyrule itself and holds a unique place in the lore. I think it actually cheapens her to make her playable in a mainline Zelda game. The player doesn’t get to BE Zelda. I’m just a kid with a wooden sword who wakes up in a world that’s bigger than me, full of magic and a timeless war between good and evil. Zelda is an essential part of Hyrule and the fight against that evil. She should never die on screen because a player messed up and ran out of hearts. She is not just a damsel in distress. And she could never be a voiceless protagonist that serves as a stand in for the human player. Link is flat because he’s the link between Hyrule and the world of the human player. We recognize him, not because of his personality or his character but because he has a green tunic. Zelda should never be reduced to an avatar that way. She’s more essential than that. She’s the reason we care about Hyrule and enter into it to join her in the fight against evil and Ganon. If they wanted to do a spinoff or something that could be cool. Different gameplay. Different mechanics. Different themes. But otherwise, I hope they stay true to the lore they’ve established in Legend of Zelda series.

TLDR: Noooo, Nintendo! Don’t do it! Zelda’s too big-time to be played by us! ;D

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW

I simultaneously love TotK and miss BotW. I feel a little bit of a letdown traversing the map in TotK because I’ve seen the landscape before. The sense of challenging traversal and discovery in BotW was such a great time. Now I just hop into the sky and fly wherever I want… it kind of feels like cheating. I love TotK and agree, its a 10/10, but discovering Hyrule for the first time in BotW was the most fun I’ve ever had in a video game.

Re: When Does The 3DS And Wii U eShop Close? Nintendo eShop Closure Guide

I spent way more money this weekend than I thought I would - grabbing games that I won't get to play otherwise. I love my 3DS and I'm actually pretty bummed to see this happen. Logged onto the eshop on my 3DS when I got home from work today, thinking I'd maybe pick up one more game... nope! It's done.

But wow, so many great memories and more great games to play.

Some games I picked up that I look forward to playing -
Persona Q2
Etrian Odyssey IV, V, and Untold 2
Stella Glow
DQ VIII
Radiant Historia
and
Kirby: Planet ROBOBOT!!!

Happy gaming 3DS'ers!

I have loved my time with this game. I can understand calling it an 8 in terms of the size of the game and that it isn't taking the genre into a new direction. The game's description as a 'casual' game fits.

All that said - personally I have loved my time with the game and the quality of the experience makes it higher than an 8. I'd give it a 9 because of the pure fun I've having with the game. The progression loop they've created is tight - not bloated or overly complicated - and blends skilled gameplay with the anticipation of getting the items and drops you're hoping for to make a great run. I love this game!
